I don’t care much about this specific case with Koichiro Ito, but I personally can’t stand misandrist creators. I find it impossible to separate them from their art, as their misandry often seeps into their work.
Also reminds me of how some Gundam fans think that Amuro isn't in the new Gundam show (that's set in the alternate UC) because what his voice actor did. Which I think is a stupid argument. Why wouldn't they show Amuro anymore just because what his voice actor did, they probably just replaced him in future appearance anyways since his voice actor is old.
agreed at the end of the day u never really know the person , u only know them through their talent . that doesnt just apply to anime but music/ films and books , if we were to look at the controversy of every musician/actors we'll never enjoy anything .
The way I operate is by simply not directly financially supporting the creator(s) if I find them to be morally reprehensible. For example, I will eventually read or watch Ruroni Kenshin, but I sure as hell won't be buying the Blu-Rays or the mangas.
The funny thing is that as bad as the anime community is with this issue, the "real art" community is much worse. A painting is only valuable because of who made it. If today they found out 1 of Van Gough's paintings was actually done by some nobody, it would lose all worth. The same way someone could "find" a missing painting from Edvard Munch and his name alone would make it worth over a million.
I have no clue about the "real art" community but if that's the case "real art" seems fake to me. I appreciate manga art if it's high quality no matter who the artist is. I can't deny that Oda's art (and writing) got progressively worse just because his name is big.
In 99% of cases i can separate the art from the artist. But i just cant bring myself to listen to the band Lostprophets after what the lead singer did, even though they were my favourite band when i was growing up.
I don't know what the "Executive Producer" term exactly entails in the anime industry, but in cinematography and television production, it's a catch-all qualification for people who wants to be credited as involved into the creation while only having a secondary role in the process. They're more like the guys taking care of the backstage logistic, making the effective production less of a headache for the actual creators.
Current reminder that godzillas creator was a Japanese nationalist who served in ww2 but that hasnt stopped people from china, asia and the rest of the world from enjoying Godzillas content.
What if people like you, who made ped0 authors rich, indirectly enabled those authors to use their money to access children eventually? There's a reason why boycotting exists and should be taken seriously.
Reminds me of a certain situation with john k creator of ren and stimpy that john k was a pedo but it did not affect peoples likeness to ren and stimpy they still loved ren and stimpy but they hate john k.
Once again remind of the classic Raymond Chandler quote: "If you liked a book, don't meet the author." It's incredibly stupid for these people to take it out on the writing/product because they were too naive or not self-disciplined enough to take that advice.
it's true tho Creators taste shouldn't ruin fondness of a story/show- IF it was good to begin with. If Ehasz was outed as some trafficking dealer, that wouldn't make Avatar the last airbender bad overnight. Now If we're talking 'your name or silent voice, then nah, taste was never in the equation, tweenage trash this is not surprising, just look at the culture these boys come from. I'd easily take entertaining wokeness over the crap they've been on for the past 30 years.
wow what crazy news did i woke up to i was never the biggest fan of the guy but i found some of his work like "5 centimeters per second" and "garden of words" to be some of his better stuff unlike that overrated hotmess that was "your name" what a shame who's next mamoru hosoda?
You're mistaking two different people, who you're thinking of is Makoto Shinkai while the one who has the problem is Koichiro Ito the producer, basically the one who got the money and hired people around. It's like blaming the carpenter when the hiring agency is the one who got involved in a crime.

@ Yeah that's the same in the anime industry, a person who works on the "business side of things" rather than the actual creative work itself.
Doesn't effect me. I still loved your name and weathering with you eventhough the writing wasn't good. I still enjoyed the feels it gave.
