Funny thing with the bath scene, one of my favorite scene happens in one of those: in the lead up to the final fight after the gang return from their 3 or so years of training in hell they are full of confidence they are stronger than ever and also acquire the elemental spirit, but then Yoh nonchalantly destroy all that by saying something like _yeah, but Hao also train in hell for 900 years_ ... like damn, that was brutal...
Funny thing is that Project ARMS also had the main characters going on a road trip across the US later on, and Hayato ends up aggro some black harlem thugs at one point. Though it had this blind mystic named Mama Maria who plays a part in Hayato's and Violet's character arcs. Yet ARMS never really caught any attention here.
There were like 3 small channels hyping it up but they very quickly turned on it when it turned out to be terrible. Also, I believe Takei just has a thing for feminine boys. Ultimo has 12 of those who wear no shirts and a villain who is an effeminate boy who is also the reincarnation of an ancient consort of the protagonist's previous reincarnation. Thus, the entire conflict comes from a spurned lover turned spurned homosexual for the author's fetish. Oh, and Stan Lee was involved in it for some reason.
Oh.....that manga. I started out being so hyped when it first came out. But the problem as usual with the writer is that it gets convoluted and messy.....then he gets burnt out and the story gets cancelled. Making it a slog to read even if I at the time liked the art. At one point Yoh comes back from Hell and says he could have gotten even stronger than Hoh but if he beat Hoh all that would prove is that only power matters. The manga would have been better if Yoh tried to defeat Hoh using the power of friendship instead of brute strength, especially since Hoh tries to win using the latter and dislikes the former.
I was interested in Shaman King's anime as a kid never watched it cause some older family member hated it for no apparent reason and I decided to not watch it because of the occult undertones, know let me watch my Yu-Gi-Oh! (that was me as a kid).
I have watched the anime adaptation. I have similar experience with, I really like the beggining few episodes but find the rest dull. I dropped it so I never know the ending. My favorite character and only character I have great interest in is the blacksmith spirit that was fused into a notebook pc and was the spirit partner of the schoolmate dwarf, but he was not utilized much and becomes almost extraneous later on which contributes to my waning interest.
