Just want to say your videos are the most helpful and useful that I have found! I have seen so many dermatologists and none have ever explained this or taken the time with me to discuss this and address my personal concerns. Thank you so much 🥰🥰🙏🏻
4:40 But my Dermat said you shouldn't use emollients over retinoids because they are thicker and lock it in hence increasing their strength and irritation
Thank you for the great info! Once tretinoin is tolerated for daily use for anti aging, is it recommended to increase concentration or is it not necessary?
What can you do on the day's that you're not using Tret. Like if you're only using it twice a week. Is there things extra that you could Do on your off days? Like you mentioned, slugging is not recommended with it. But what about the day after when you're not using trett? Are there things throughout the week? On the days you're not using that ingredient that can help your skin tolerate it better?
What can be prescribed by a dermtologist for a burn on the face from tretinoin? I accidentally combined it with something else and got a burn. Trying to use something that will help with hyperpigmentation that is there now. I know there's ointments and creams, but what would be good rx for a mild burn and scar care. I'm a medium light Hispanic skin.
Can I use the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream during the day as well? I have dry skin and just started with tretinoin. If not what do you recommend I use on the days I don’t use tretinoin and also what to use during the day in general with dry skin
3:18 to clarify, stop using other actives totally (AM and PM?) when starting or just when you’re applying the retinoid (PM routine)? If stopping totally, how long would you say until one can start it back, in the event that the skin is handling the retinoid well.
So if we have dry sensitive skin and are just using retinol for anti-aging purposes it’s better to stick with OTC products and we will get same results as prescription?
hey there dr. jenny i was wondering on nights that i only exfoliate what moisturizer should i use for oily/acne prone skin but i don't have consistent or terrible acne just here and there
Hi ! There I have a serious Question for all of u that What Do I use during the nights when I'm not using my retinol ....I m a beginner & I'm using La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser + Kiehl's Retinol Micro dose Serum + Cerave Moisturizer In Night. In Morning I use Cleanser + Paula's Choice Vitamic C + Isntree hyaluronic Acid water gel sunscreen.
Thanks for your info! I've been using trentnoin 0.025% for 8 months and I am tolerate it very well. I would like incorporate azlaid acid in my routine. I am wondering if it's okay to use both active ingredients together. If so what would be your recommendation for the percentage?
Hi, I love the La Roshe Posay cream you mentioned but when I use it with my Rx tretinoin it start pilling and won’t go on smooth. Any idea why this happens? I use non pore clogging moisturizer because I tend to get millia with thick moisturizer. What non comedogenic moisturizers do you recommend? Thanks in advance!
Thank you for explaining! One thing im confused about though is why doctors doesn't suggest people who suffer from adult acne to start on over the counter retinols? Wouldnt that be the best way to start treatment to minimize the risk of irritation and scarring?🤔
@@dr.jennyliu I see, but for the sake of making the skin used to the retinol, isn't that a important thing not to irritate? From what i understand you can start really gentle with retinaldehyde and then go for ex differin, or am i wrong?
Hi . I have a uneven skin tone and I started recently using tretinon with ups 0.05% as doctor prescribed and im having rashes and like red pimples with itchiness . The way i used tretinon by applying after face wash without any moisture before or afternoon tretinon .please let me if it is wrong way to use tretinon
So you are probably experiencing a damaged skin barrier, let me help u, so first wash it it’s a gentle HYDRATING face wash, cereve and laroche poussay has one. Next apply a good moisturizer! Something with ceramides/peptides/ even centella can help! Allow that layer to dry down, THEN ADD ANOTHER layer of moisturizer! Let that dry down a bit and THEN put HALF than a pea sized about of the tret on your skin. Let it dry down, AND YET AGAIN another layer of moisturizer! And your all done! U should see some improvements from that
I was just about to buy the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream but read ingredients and see it contains encapsulated retinol - would this be bad to use in addition to retinol/tret treatment step? Thank you!
Why this video came out so late?😭I´m suffering a terrible irritation in my skin cause I used a benzoyl peroxide cleanser when my skin hadn't gotten used to adapalene that I just started one month ago 😔
Hi there! Im using a 0.1 tretinoin but has so much irritation i only used 2-3 times a wk. in between i use the benzoyl/adapalene for spot treatment. Do u think i should stop one?
Hi Dr. Liu I understand no for Petrolatum based products, but would putting a facial oil, like Squalane, after applying my Tretinoin affect its efficacy? Thanks ! 😇
I bought the Cerave skin renewing night cream because it was so highly recommended. I don't know if they changed the formula or I got a poorly mixed batch, but it is incredibly greasy on my skin, like Vaseline-level greasy. It doesn't absorb well and just sits on my face. I was very disappointed.
My primary care physician prescribed me with Tretinoin 0.05% each night along with Spironolactone pill 25mg each day for cyst acne,Lot of facial hair growth,PCOS So how should I start as beginners I do have dry to Combination sensitive skin Which product would you recommend Cleanser,Moisturiser and spf
I always say more gentle the better until your skin gets use to it then you can certainly try changing out your products as desired. In General i recommend a cream over gels for moisturizers

You’re not supposed to use 2 actives at once, you need to use the tretinoin almost every night for 3 months so your skin can get used to it
That to much for your skin, use just tretinoin .if It's your first time to use tretinoin chose Low pourcentage 0.025 and avoid 0.1

Petrolatum based moisturizers are fine to use just don’t use 100% petrolatum. But any moisturizer with occlusive like squalene is fine too
It doesn't affect the efficacy? Everybody else says it lowers the dose... And not as Much ingredient is absorbed
