I think this is one of your best (and that's saying something). My wife and I were born in America of Irish and English parentage. This video means something to me. Without fail, the music and narration bring on the tears. One day, I hope to travel from California to the watch makers themselves and purchase a Dunlaing watch and a Nomadic watch from their places of origin. If that happens, I can thank your video for the inspiration to turn ideas into reality.
Oisin. I have just order my new watch. VERTIGO PILOT ONE FULL LUME. Vertigo Watches is a private company. It is not part of a larger publicly traded corporation. The brand is known for its exclusive, high-quality timepieces, this is Italy brand. 🇮🇹🙂
I think you have just done so much for both brands and if they had commissioned an ad agency they wouldn’t have produced a more effective product. Fantastic tone and storytelling. I can hear the Marais and Dunlaings flying off the shelves as I type!
Also a proud owner of a custom engraved Nomadic Marai 401… a fantastic film that speaks to the history and culture of Ireland, the birthplace of my Great Grandfather.
The Dunlaing looks beautiful and original, the Nomadic looks well made but essentially it’s a Black Bay 58 wannabe, it’ll be interesting to see where Nomadic go from here. Gorgeous video Oisin, superb cinematography and story telling, nobody better at this on TH-cam
From the comments, I’m not sure everyone gets what Oisin has put together here. It’s meant to showcase a beautiful watch that includes a feel for Irish culture including the music, struggles and Irish people. Is the Nomadic a completely unique timepiece with no comparison or influenced by the Rolex Submariner? No. It’s not. Was the Sub unique and developed in a vacuum without influence from the 50 Fathoms in 1953? Everything begets something else. Enjoy a product on its own merit and decide whether it stands on its own. It’s a beautiful watch. That’s enough sometimes. At least it used to be.
I love the look of the nomadic. I think I will buy one. I just have a hard time pulling the trigger without ever seeing one in person. But it definitely has some influence by the submariner.
Beautifully done! Brilliant. Poignant as well as informative! As an Irish American, who loves both Ireland AND great watches ... this piece of work, really hit the spot. Cheers, mate!
@@Abefroman-lq3md To be fair, Paisley also insisted on calling it “Ulster”, artificially inflating the counties in his perceived fiefdom by 33%, and claiming _even more_ stuff that wasn’t his. Beautiful video, always enjoy the production, content and opinion! As a proud Norn Ironman I bought one of the first Marai. Nice scéal, but there’s no link between Harland & Wolff and a poor ripoff of a Black Bay. Must check out the Galway crowd, though. There are chancers both side of the border for sure 😂
Beautiful video, been interested in the Nomadic watch since you showed us about a year and a half ago. I'm interested in the crimson red date or no date is my conflict.
Both ok but, like I see in many micros, they just don't look quite complete, they are 85-90% in many cases but just missing the fine details that make a watch look 'right'.
They tracked down the steel deep ocean blue with date for me, they are incredible! I'll probably get the black grey gmt as well. Love my old rolexs, but very excited about what Nomadic is doing right now!

@@JakobMtn I love the blue! And yes, the black & grey GMT is one of the best! I'm reviewing that next.
A very emotional thought out video @Oisín I grew up in Donegal in the time of the “troubles “. Sitting in the back of my mums car going across the border to get cheaper fuel/shopping , going through the checkpoint at Belleek and soldiers with guns pointing at us , Honestly it was just normal to us kids because nobody told us anything different. But when the borders/checkpoints came down when I got older I would return home for a holiday with my kids and tell them about the checkpoints it was surreal . Bomb scares, separating kids in schools because of their religion was inexcusable, but it happened and shame on them, Kids never forget and these war criminals need to remember that!! Love and peace to all ✌️💚
Beautiful video as always…but my god does it give me anxiety when you put the watches on their sides on concrete/stone paving slabs!!! Do you put anything under them like tape etc to avoid picking up unnecessary scratches?
As there is a history theme to the video for anyone who’s interested in some of the images Oisin has included in the video The little kid with the dark hair is booby sands son Gereard at his father’s funeral . Bobby sands was an IRA man who went on hunger strike in protest against British rule in the north of Ireland, he lasted 66 days and died he was the first of 10 men to do so , these are IRA men in uniform next to him The older women giving the British solider a flask of tea or food was mostly likely a Catholic Irish ☘️ women in Belfast . I would disagree about Stephen McGonigle’s Magon brand being the best Irish brand. I would take one of his brother John McGonigle’s Oileàn HB-1 Triple-Date / Chronographs over a Magon Watch in a heartbeat but, then, I’m not a Rugby fan. Respect for mentioning Bryan Leech’s Sidereus brand. I’m wearing my Sidereus ‘Knowth’ Watch on a Magon Tweed strap as I type this. It was my 50th birthday present to myself. I shall treasure it always and it will never leave my collection.
