    Hi there. I am south African and live in Cape town, have a very simple home and is looking at slowly redoing the kitchen which is as when we bought the house 7 years ago. So I've been watching and subscribing to many interior design idea channels. And just recently stumbled across yours and is so absolutely presently surprised that i don't feel intimidated by the glamour or that i have to be rich to include good design. Your advice is very functional and practical. I especially like this fung chui introduction. Gives feeling and soul to interior design instead of it just being practical, materialistic and glamourous.

    WONDERFUL, I can't wait for the ENTIRE series - LOVE it! I tried doing this on my own, and gave up! I'm going to decorate our home in a Parisian design, and I'm so happy you said it's OK to add mirrors above our night stand, because I was going to do just that, with beautiful pendant lightings.
    ***Also, as we go upstairs, on the landing we have a 12' T x 4' W window with a GORGEOUS view of a national park with tall mountains, and beautiful trees (I'm having a reading nook built in on the landing.) As we turn our back toward the window, and continue to go upstairs, and we arrive on the second floor, we are facing an empty wall. I was thinking of adding a big beautiful mirror above a console, or a full length mirror with a thin gilded frame (think Parisian) facing the window and reflecting the view back at us, hoping to recapture that beautiful view once again. Is that good feng shui? I believe you said yes.*** Thank you!!! 😊🌷

      Thank you ☺️. It’s special! It deserves to properly be acknowledged 😁.
      I just REALLY admire anything of beauty (design, art, architecture, nature etc.) along with being pleasing to look at, it speaks to the great deal of effort and care that was put into creating it.
      And in this case with your hair on top of looking great, it’s so unique. And that just adds to how wonderful it all looks.
      I LOVE “different” and variety in general. To me hair like that is an expression of someone’s individuality. It’s so fun and stylish. Along with being something awesome you don’t see everyday.
      So yeah I was definitely transfixed on that hair the whole time. So good ✨

    • @seagal-1
      @seagal-1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lovelymemarie An entry hall without a mirror just doesn't look right to me. I have always been interested in feng shui and find a lot of it is common sense, but I am most interested in design that creates ease of movement and functions well for me. A mirror in the hall is convenient as you can make sure you look "presentable" before heading out. These usually work on the side wall heading toward the door where a small table is also convenient. Some things feel right and some things don't. My dining room has art in it as I would rather look at that rather than amplify people eating. That would look too busy to my eye.

      Hi Carolyn, I covered both topics in this video. As long as the mirror doesn’t face the bed and it doesn’t interrupt your rest, mirror in the bedroom is Ok. Mirror not facing the entry door is fine too, mine is next to the door on the same wall, but a perpendicular wall works just as well.

      Yes, placing a mirror where you're reflecting the neighbor's home is not the most auspicious location for it. You will simply be bouncing all your good chi back out. You'll be the best neighbor though! lol, but I don't think that's your intent.

I don't know why I have this aversion towards mirrors, but all the mirrors in my home are purely functional and are mainly in the bathroom over the sink. I do have one full length mirror in my basement which my son installed for himself. It is tucked away so you have to make a special effort to look at it.

    Hi, I recently started to rent a guesthouse which have a big sectional tile mirror, amber colour, in the foyer/ reception area that covers almost the whole wall with a big frame around it. When you open the front door of the entrance into the foyer, it looks over the parking area towards the entrance gate and to the street. It is a corner yard at a t-junction, so there is a stop sign just next to the entrance gate. When you go past the reception area you turn into a short corridor that leads to the dining area to the left and lounge to the right. That short corridor also has the same big sectional tile mirror covering the whole wall with big frame around it at the end of the corridor. It receives natural light through a skylight in the roof that actually lights up the whole corridor which is quite dark as it does not have any windows.
    That is the only fixed mirrors in the house.
    The bedrooms has mirrors inside the cuboard doors, which is fine. The main family bedroom has a dressing table with mirror facing towards the seating area. I suppose that is fine. Can you give your input upon the entrance and corridor mirrors please.

    • @JulieKhuu
      @JulieKhuu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tile mirror is not a good idea for Feng Shui because of the broken lines/ grid Marie. The entry mirror will bounce back the chi coming into the home. The corridor mirror is bringing light into the space, but then again it’s also tile. If you replace the corridor one, look for a solid piece of mirror- no grids/ tiles.
