To all the young folks out there... " Sound of Silence" was written by Paul Simon in 1964 and originally performed by Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon. A great young duo who paired up while in high school ( Queens NY) in 1957. While Disturbed did a fabulous rendition just as this Pianist , the song "belongs" to the talented original duo. If you get a chance listen to other words and songs of Simon and Garfunkel.😊🎵
The Sounds of Silence originally released in 1964 on S&G's first album which was a flop. The duo broke up. In 1965, Tom Wilson, a Columbia Records producer, overdubbed the song with electric guitar and rhythm section. It was released as a single retitled The Sound of Silence w/o S&G's knowledge. In late 1965 it was the #1 hit, S&G were back together again, and the rest of the story is, as they say, history. Though interesting, this story somewhat pales compared to the story behind Bridge Over Troubled Water.
I absolutely love the Disturbed version of The Sound of Silence. I even bought the album Immortalised on vinyl as a result. However, when you say 'The sound of Silence by Disturbed', please remember even that version is a cover of a song written by Paul Simon, very nearly 60 years ago and subsequently a hit for Simon and Garfunkel in the 60's

I gather that Paul liked the Disturbed version of his classic. I've only just found your original and now you blast me with this amazing version of the Disturbed version ! For people that love this song check out Paul playing it as he wants it played live at The Beacon Theatre ( Theater ) in New York.

Yes, Simon and Garfunkel did originally record “Sound Of Silence,” but Disturbed did their own version of it in 2015. What Gamazda is playing here is much closer to what Disturbed released than S&G, which could be why she said “By Disturbed” in the title
I did not think you could match or exceed the original Paul Simon arrangement you had done (or I had seen first), but this was also magnificent! I always find myself singing the lyrics in my head for every video I have seen. Your beauty is only matched by your performance and your music. I love your videos.

@@buddyireland2603 Indeed, from my hair color and the text of my comment, it should be apparent that I am quite familiar with the original song - and her interpretation of it that she posted about a year and a half ago. Most of my Simon & Garfunkel material was on vinyl, which is all gone now. This version moves differently, communicating more angst. I'm really happy that she has now done both versions. The differences are interesting.
My favourite S and G song of the many on that wonderful album, Bridge ... This interpretation adds a 4th dimension that few covers, if any, give to it. Superb, from a gorgeous lady with a magnificent talent.
This is originally a S&G song but the metal band Disturbed covered it recently and did an absolutely amazing job at it it’s worth a listen. She has piano covers of both versions of the song. Disturbed added that intro and outro riff that S&G doesn’t have. It also has more of a build during the song. This is a cover of a cover of S&G

Yea but this cover is a cover of disturbed. The original is way more upbeat and faster tempo.
