    I used to be a dedicated check in flyer due to all my lotions and potions. :) Then I’d carry a duffle in my overhead and a purse under the seat.
    Silly me.
    I figured it out, finally. Learned all the tricks for packing an actual carry-on and I found a very cool Nomad Lane Origami bag that has a trolley sleeve and the hardware to turn it into a backpack for my personal bag. No more big purses (they’re tucked in my carry with a compression bag inside). Next trip in 4 week!
    Thanks for your videos!

    Hi Lori! Great video! All domestic flights in Australia have a 7 kg limit with carry on including handbags, back packs, and the airlines weigh carry on before boarding for each passenger. Always a stress and I have posted items home before return flights to reduce weight. Always a nervous time before flights so I’m not the one hold up other travellers. I have been a carry-on-only traveler for a long time now even for 2-week trips to Europe. I think your best tip is the capsule wardrobe. I struggle with taking too many clothes even though they all fit in my wonderful AWAY suitcase without using the expander. I too use a full size underseat carry-on in addition to my suitcase, but struggle with it fitting all the way under in some planes. I will try your backpack this trip! Thank you!

    Tip when shopping and researching carry on bags and personal item bags, in addition to looking for function, look at the weight of each item. Some TH-camrs in the travel domain have limits for their bags…eg. 1.5 lbs for a personal item. I don’t remember the exact weight, but you get the idea. Use light weight packing cubes, light weight purses or day bags. Put these exact items on your Christmas list if cash is tight. Over time you will have a “perfect” travel collection.

    • @bluewrenbirdie
      @bluewrenbirdie ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly it's tough at 7kg. Ditching the roller suitcase for a backpack or duffle is the best way if you're able to, as the case itself takes up a LOT of that weight. But also look at your routing to see if there's an alternative airline you can fly without the low limit, even 10kg gives you a lot more wiggle room. As an example, flying SYD-LAX with Qantas is a strict 7kg limit and I've always had mine weighed. Flying the same route on AA or Delta means no weight restriction. Same with flying SYD-SIN, my beloved Singapore Airlines is 7kg (although my bag was not weighed on my most recent trip) but British Airways is the same as checked (23kg) so effectively no weight limit.

    • @The.LifeWithLori
      @The.LifeWithLori  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI Sue - I don't think I could keep it under 7kg - and I certainly wouldn't be able to keep it under that weight combined! In this situation I would have to either fly with a carrier that allows a higher weight limit - or check a bag 😢

    • @astridp4196
      @astridp4196 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lufthansa in Frankfurt will weigh your carry on too and it’s 7 or 8 kg , no matter if you’re coming from an international flight or not, any connecting is very limited , as well as most Australian airlines.
