*Totally pathetic and 100% biased, anti-Arsenal refereeing*
If you look at it in cold hard facts, then preventing a freekick is a bookable offence.
*_But there are so many mitigating factors to why this was_* *NOT* *_a bookable offence._*
1 - Rice was walking away from where the tackle took place.
2 - Veltman put the ball down and kicked it at Rice who was some 10 foot away and walking away. So you could easily say, the freekick had already happened. Rice didn't even see Veltman had kicked it. He just felt the ball hit his legs. Rice just tapped the ball out of play.
3 - If the freekick had not happened, then Veltman kicked a moving ball from the wrong place where the foul had happened. And that's not permitted to kick a moving ball at a freekick. The ref should stop play and the freekick should have been retaken. _If that had happened near the oppositions 'box and a defender had caught the ball in the penalty area. It wouldn't be a penalty. But the freekick would have to be retaken._
4 - Veltman knew exactly what he was trying to do and that was to get Rice booked and sent off. Just look at his reactions when the ref came over.
5 - Veltman should have been booked for unsporting behaviour. It's like waving an invisible card to the ref after a tackle. And then Veltman should have been booked for a second time for kicking Rice. Or maybe he should have just been booked for kicking Rice, regardless?
*But with all the other incidents that happened against Brighton, then it's obvious that this ref does not like Arsenal and that the Manchester born lad, even though he's never said who he supports, is a fan of a North West, Premier League football side and should therefore, not be involved in any games where any of the top clubs are involved.*
A- Hinshelwood should have been booked for grabbing Saka's shirt and dragging him to the ground just outside the Brighton penalty box in the opening minutes. But only a freekick. No booking.
B - Pedro should have been booked for kicking the ball all the way down the pitch, when the ball was already 30" off the playing surface. If he thought it was still on the pitch, he wouldn't have booted it away as he did and then just stopped running.
C - And Raya's booking when the time at 90+4 mins was very harsh. He hadn't even been warned for any such slow play before that. I've not seen that before. _Refs always warn a 'keeper if they delay kicks, they'll get booked._

I've watched enough games this weekend where the only person who got a card for delay of game was Rice. If the guy tried taking the free kick from where he was fouled instead of throwing it onto Rice's foot then he would not have been able to tap it away. Ref should have used common sense...Brighton had no shots on target up to that point

Every thing on Sterling is good. Only that his final product at times is disappointing. The card issue for is uncalled for. The rules are you don't take a kick on the rolling ball. You pick the ball, place it at spot and then you can take the kick. Instead of kicking the ball, he kicked Rice. But the ref was already biased in the way he officiating. The Neto deal is class also.

Declan Rice’s second yellow card was justified, but the problem is the consistency. Joao Pedro should’ve gotten one as well for kicking the ball and he received nothing. As for Raheem…great signing for very cheap and for a highly experienced England international. He will recover his best form at Arsenal and provide cover on the right wing and up front.

Declan Rice : The ball was moving already so the ball was not active for the next play. So no matter what - the ball / play is dead. Declan had turned his head and didn’t know their next move. That referee is junk. Freeze him . Raheem Sterling on loan and The Arsenal pay half his wages - excellent bit of business. Sad to see Aaron go but Neto is a good 2nd option after the Ramsdale business. Yes.

The weird thing is that players who tackle opponents at ankle height get away with it. It should be straight red. Then you have a player who cuts a ball that is in motion, he gets a yellow, his other yellow. Refs, sharpen yourselves, cut the bangs so you get a bit of vision and be consistent, but look at the context before you pour out unnecessary cards in autumn's colors

He's already worth some £34 million. So regardless what he does now, he's already vastly wealthy. And if he turned down that alleged £650,000 per week deal from the Middle East, then it's enough proof to me that he wants to win at Arsenal.

I rewatched the Declan Rice Red Card incident several times. He barely clips the ball. Also, the Brighton player knew what he was doing too when he clobbered Declan Rice. I dont think Rice deserved a 2nd yellow for that. However, by the letter of the law, the ref was within his rights to give him the yellow. Having said that, there were 2 other much more obvious incidents of game delays that went unpunished. 1 from us and 1 from Brighton. Refereeing consistency would therefore have dictated NO card for Rice. But, and here is the big but, If you do what Declan did, you are gambling that the ref wont penalise you for it. Declan bet on the wrong horse and lost. He shouldnt have got a yellow for it, but it was ultimately his fault. Rices statement after the fact has made no difference to my opinion. I thought this before the statement.
Clearly Rice didn't know what he was doing after already being on a yellow card...

Poor inconsistent officiating, but yeah, Rice gave the referee a chance to send him off (Interesting that the ref took that opportunity.....). So both can be right at the same time. Sterling - great business for me..... at a great price. For me though, we need to replace Granit Xhaka - that is the secret to why Martinelli is looking off the pace.
Hopefully merino will do similar to what xhaka was able to with Martinelli as he likes to play the cutting through balls to the left winger which Martinelli will thrive on 🤝

So the ref that issued the red card has now been suspended. A clear acknowledgment that his decision was clearly incorrect. We dropped 2 pts very likely to incorrect ref decisions… does this mean that the red card will be rescinded? Because it should!

Sterling had the same amount of goal contributions as Trossard last season. He’s still 29 yrs old. He’s not at the age of retirement. He had these many goal contributions in a washed up chelsea team. He can also beat a man when one on one on the wings. He’s still got it. Martinelli does it but no output. Trossard can’t outrun but gives the output. Sterling has both. Also, this would help Saka get some deserved rest when sterling fills in. On top of it we pay 1/3 of his salary. Nelson on 100k a week out on loan for a year and sterling is better than him for the same salary per week for a year. Think about it.

Since last season we knew we needed a striker, what did we do? We got defenders. Even at 10men, we should have won againat Brighton if we had a good striker. Squandered 5 clear chances. Sterling is a good addition.
Since I have followed Arsenal we are always 1or 2 players off winning the EPL. Arteta is just like Wenger but at least Wenger gives the youth a chance. Bellarin, Iwobi, Nketiah, Fabrigas are example of Wenger giving youths a chance
