Coming back to this song 7 years later and 1 year out of a miserable and abusive relationship, Kimbra's verse hits me in a deeply relatable way. It's a side of the relationship Gotye's character doesn't tell and he ends her verse by cutting her off with the chorus. I can't get over how nuanced and powerful this song is.

Because the industry is so oversaturated with songs about romantic relationships, failing or otherwise, it's easy to minimise the significance of the emotions surrounding such things. Maybe I'm the only one that does this, idk, but we're at our most vulnerable around the people we like, even more so around the people we're emotionally invested in. The song does an excellent job of capturing how it can feel to have someone disappear from your life and to have all those great memories be replaced with bitterness, discomfort and oftentimes malice.

Yeah if you listen closely his tuning is modified in the form of vocal overlay where you take multiple recording attempts and overlay it over the the one you want to be heard the most. Of course, this method doesn't work for people who don't have any talent with singing (this man clearly has talent), but it can make the track seem more clean and polished than it actually is.

@@libitina27 theres 2 main ways. using an app to isolate vocals (it sounds a bit more poor quality and wouldn't sound this good) OR you can basically hack and leak the different vocals and instruments of the song which gives you really clear vocals. this isnt really ethical and it happens to a lot of modern vocal heavy artists like ariana grande , demi lovato etc

Yeah if you listen closely his tuning is modified in the form of vocal overlay where you take multiple recording attempts and overlay it over the the one you want to be heard the most. Of course, this method doesn't work for people who don't have any talent with singing (this man clearly has talent), but it can make the track seem more clean and polished than it actually is.
