Your videos remind me of when I worked in a craft store. We had endless supplies to work with in our classes and kept $ale$ up by 40% just showing people what they could do. Soft selling is what we called it.
Because of these types of videos I am now saving backings off of everything. They are so very useful and come in handy for many different things. Lovely video.
Your cards are beautiful Gayle...love how you used up those tiny scraps. I love your folders with all your fussy cut ephemera, you’re so organised! 😊 TFS 💜
My son Bradley has just turned 20 and I have him so trained to watch for cool packaging and tags from clothes he now comes home from friends houses with tags off their new clothes! Lol. True love
I loved this. I also tear up collage sheets. Lots of people using the same papers, it is nice to create something unique too. And the texture is a big part of it for sure. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to get more packaging used up! xx
Thanks, Tracie! Big hugs, my friend! On my to do list...playing with the new journal card kit you and Andrea made! All printed and cut and ready to have fun with!! You two are genius!! 🤗😘❤️
I just adore how you have organized your ephemera into books you made with tons of pockets!!! awesome ... why did I not think of this? you rock. your voice helps calm all the Covid/election noise in my head. THANK YOU !!!
Hi! Maybe you could put a nail polish drop on one side of the handles of the cropadile🤔so that you know on the spot the way to put it back in the box? 😀Have a nice day!
Always love the scraps & packaging tutorials. It’s one of my favorite parts of creating tags & journal cards. I believe the crazy weather is partly due to all of wildfires. Please have the West Coast in your prayers, we are getting pummeled with all of the fires. Many thousands misplaced due to the fires. I did see parts of Montana also got hit with fires in parts too. Thank you for sharing your creativity
Good morning....I’ve been watching home decor vids since our move to Texas~getting ideas for our new home [been here about a year now] & I’ve missed so many of your vids, however I’m back!!!! Missed you Ms. Gayle! ... here in Texas, we are having some rain § cooler weather ... sending you happy hugs!!! ❤️🐞
Gayle. My first chance to say a big thank you for the shoutout and sending all the lovely crafters my way. I've had to restock my shop. Thank goodness lockdown here in the UK have me chance to make.😂 xxx Catherine
I am glad I’m not alone using up packaging. I know I’m new to this whole junk journaling thing but when I first started buying Timmy stuff I thought wow these packages are great for bases for journal cards etc....woot! Today my hubby went to throw away his tissue box and I thought ....tear that box apart. So I did and got two belly bands, several tags, a few journal card bases and all out of ONE box. I don’t know if you’ve tried that but thought I’d share the idea to you and your followers. Hugs. 🥰
We had that same weather in Texas last Wed, Thur and Fri. I sent it up to you...lol. We’re now in the lower to mid 80’s. Love it. I’m sitting on the back porch right now.
wow Gayle your weather makes some huge drops in temperature bbbrrrr 🤔 🥶 I always save the packaging and tags from clothes also. Yours are looking awesome! 🌺💕
Love watching you work, because I often take handfuls and just throw them away to handle too many scraps. Here I am watching you decorate clothing tags. Laughed at myself because I buy way too many clothes to do that. I’m still working is my excuse.
Really enjoyed watching this video. I save Packaging and also save the political flyers I get in the mail since they are like cardstock. They are great to collage and cut up for journal cards.
As someone who creates collage pages for my Etsy shop, I fully expect people to tear them up for their own collage. Collage pages in my opinion are almost like sampler sheets and can be used in multiple ways.
Yep , that's kind of what happened to us here in New Mexico. Monday was 95 degrees, Tuesday was 46. We had really hard winds and Tuesday evening large parts of the downtown area of Albuquerque lost power and IU t was out for almost 30 hours. Lots if rain which we did need. Brought all of our plants inside. And because of the fires, today was actually the first day we had sun.
I collect all the marketing "postcards" (?) I get -- from political campaigns, window & siding companies, and realtors. They're slick, but they take paper and glue really well, so when I get a bunch together, I collage them like you do your your running book pages. Because some are much larger than others, I wind up with a huge odd-sized rectangle and I cut that into bases for tags, journaling cards, belly bands, and pockets/tucks. Keeps them out of the landfill!
We went from the high 80's to a freak windstorm last week that dropped our temps down to the 50's. Also have had a thick layer of smoke from the Oregon fires. Supposed to rain tomorrow...hoping it will wash the smoke away!! Love what you did today. I also have a basket of packaging I need to collage on! Great ideas...💜
Loved how you used your packaging, just perfect! I have a bunch that needs to be used up too! Hey big sis You can always just send me those huge flowers, they are fabulous and I would be happy to give them a new home… lol! 🤣 everything looks so pretty! Great job! It was 114 degrees here one day then dropped to 64 degrees the next day… talk about confused plants and pets… so crazy! 🤪 Have a great night! Love and hugs! 🤗💖🤗
Hi and hugs Gayle :-) all the tags you made are adorable, especially love the smallest one. we had the same weather visit us after you. 4 inches of snow at the house! i put the heated blanket on the bed and we were nice and warm ;-) earliest i can remember-not complaining, i for one am ready for fall/winter. stew sounds yummy, we had chili. tfs and being here xo
I’ve taken some scrap paper pieces and made a cute little nest or stack like old loges. Then I’ve put a small layer of wax on them, tie them together with some twine. Bam... used them to help light the fireplace.
I live in California. Air is bad from all the fires. Very sad sky. Today I’m working on my altered book like you made. Just taking me longer. So far I’m happy with it. 💕
I too have tons on saved packaging. I love the Tim Holtz packaging especially the Halloween and Christmas variety. I would like to see some version that shows the packaging through on the front. I like the odd shapes of clothes tags and love your clothes tag sample.
Scraps are never ending lol. I used to quilt and I would swear I was not going to buy any more fabric until I used it all🙄 well that worked for about a day. I am finding the same is going on now with all this paper. But paper is a lot cheaper then quilt fabric!
Beautifully made as usual! It is funny, it feels real good to use your last bit of scrap papers to make room in your craft room only to turn around and fill that space you cleared with more crafts supplies because you have an empty space! lol. This happens to me over and over in the past. Now most of my craft supplies are boxed up, I am missing them terribly and holding myself back from replacing them with new supplies!.
Thank you. About recollaging digitals, I tend to collage with pages and images from books along with book page text and dyed papers. Actually I haven’t bought any digitals yet. I do have a pretty large selection of books to chose from. I also have images from public domain to play with.
I watch u on the fire stick some times and my husband came in I said I’m watch Gal you want me to go in my craft room he said know you can watch here . Lol he said he recognized-your hands lol 😂 he so funny 🤗
People collage for the same reason that quilters cut up whole cloth into tiny pieces and sew them back together... for the satisfaction of expressing ourselves. 😁
Gayle, always love watching your videos. You mentioned having some flowers you may never use, and it reminded me of a recent video Rachel at Roxy Creations did collaging with only flowers. It looked so cool and fun to do. It would be fun to see your take and may help you use up some of those larger flowers.
We're getting the same weather in Northern Wisconsin. One day there's frost on the pumpkin and the next day we're baking the pumpkin. My thoughts on cutting up collage paper is Im making it my own.
Love these as well... They come in so handy... What I would have done w/ the small Roxy tag would have colleged the other side that said Roxy , and mailed it to Rachel in Italy!!! But did like what you did to it!!!...Just a thought!!!🦋
Morning! I don't post often, but oddly enough yesterday I had gathered a bundle of packaging tags thinking I would collage them sometime soon. So this morning I collaged packaging tags with you :) I was able to collage 5 of them and decorate 1 to completion :) So perfect timing for this video . Have a great day!
Hi from Jhb, SA! We are finally starting with spring weather, just waiting for some rain. I am taking part in a swop in SA in a FB group... dangles, pins and clips. I am having such fun, and definitely including a cluster! Thanks, Gayle and have an awesome week!
I have saved packaging and tags from clothing to make tags. When you have a teenage girl in sports we seem to have many clothing tags. What a wonderful video showing how to use them. I wouldn't have thought to collage them, I would have just used one piece of paper and then decorated. Thanks for the inspiration! Our temps took a huge swing from the 90's to highs in upper 40's last week. The panhandle of Nebraska had snow but here in the central part we just had much needed rain. Warmer this weekend. Have a blessed day Gayle!
Boy that’s a huge swing on your weather! I’m so ready for cooler weather but Sept and Oct are our hottest months 😩. Packaging makes the best tags and cards don’t they? Those are lovely...especially that beautiful, big flower!🥰
My sister is constantly asking me why I don't throw anything away...well, I do. Just not scraps! I found her throwing a Cheezits box away; I ran to the waste can to retrieve it, and then I let her have it! hahaha
Montana weather sounds a lot like Ohio weather... A little bit of everything and you never no what you're going to get!!! I've been using my packaging as I go. I don't have a lot of room in my area... right now. Going to eventually have a nice craft room soon! I also like to add a bit of stronger paper over the hole. Easier to punch out later.
🎼🎵🎶Cockadoodle doo, 🎶🎵cockadoodle doo, 🎵🎶cockadoodle doooo, goodmorning rise and shine! Roses are red Violets are blue When I can’t sleep I craft with you!!! Happy Sunday Gayle! Hugz
I would swear my scraps procreate at night. And when I try to use up scraps, I think I'm only making more instead of paring down. I feel like fighting a losing battle. :( As always, I enjoy watching collage.
Me: going to use up what I have. Gayle: using what she has. Also me: ordered a bunch of digi collage sheets to COLLAGE. Me again: sigh 🤓🤓🤓 p.s. I have subtitles on. It just wrote “happy males” across my screen. Oh my....shew, not sure I have any happy males in my craft room 😎
You can purchase fabric that has a printed pattern that looks like squares of different fabric sewn together or you can make a quilt. They are not the same. This is similar to your scrap paper piecing.
I've had that same question...and the same answer. But I have a new one...why use the heavy packaging if you're completely covering it...even the different shaped holes? It seems we're just adding unnecessary bulk to our books....? If you collage a book page on both sides, as you've done with the long runs of collaged pages, isn't that plenty of weight for a tag or card? My thoughts for saving packaging has been because the packaging itself can be really nice...like the TH packaging cards. So I hope to use them as a starting point/background...starting with clear gesso to dull down the shiny ones...then decorating as we do on other tags & pockets. Anyway...just sharing...we all have different ideas. That's what makes for all the lovely variety. 🙂❤
I adore recycled Art and these are stunning!!! How do you manage to do such great fussy cutting in the car? I struggle with it at home. But I'd like to carry it with me while I'm in the passenger seat. I've been crocheting tiny thread hearts, but it's hard in the heat. 🥰🐝🤗🐞😘🦋📕
I have 5 binders full of scraps. I guess I need to get busy! Each paper pad I have has 2 page protectors for scraps. I go there before I use the paper pads, but I still have tons. So I guess I will be grabbing a binder and getting busy! lol And good grief, I threw away a BUNCH of the TH packaging a few days ago, GRRRRR
Our weather in Central Oregon is... SMOKE! If we lived in the real world it would be 90 degrees today, but we'll be lucky is make it to 65 degrees. I can't go into The Laboratory because it smells like a hot dog BBQ gone bad. I can't even wish for wind to blow the smoke away because wind would make the fires worse. UGH! On the upside, my kid works in retail so I'm never at a loss for tags. (BTW, the TJMaxx in town closed down because of the smoke, as I'm sure many other businesses did.)
scraps, scraps, scraps! The other day I was trying to sort them and the piles got too numerous. I just grabbed at one of the piles and got a wad and before that little thrifty voice could yell,”Wait!”, I threw it in the trash! Whew! I wanted to look around to see if anyone saw. ( silly, I live alone.) Then I felt mischievously elated and did it two more times. Alas, there’s still an abundance, woe is me. (sly grin)🦌💌❤️🇨🇦❤️☕️❤️📚❤️🐝❤️🛌❤️💃😉😉😉
Deerheart Studio Arts As I watch Gayles videos, I keep thinking of all the packaging I have thrown away. Even just in the past week. Yikes. It has gotten so my hand hesitates over the trashcan every time. And my husband is saving empty toilet paper tools for my. Oh dear, I don’t have room for all this. I keep reorganizing. It’s so much fun. Hugs, treen 💜💜💜💜
I didn't realize "shabby chic" was a trademark. Apparently Rachael Ashwell does send take-down notices for Etsy and eBay. I guess it's "shabby elegance" for me!
Charlean Sherrod Yes I was just thinking about today when I was out shopping so smoky when I was coming home around 5:30 or six and it’s just a big orange ball in the sky. I haven’t seen a blue sky in weeks. I’m just tired of the smell I wish it would rain these fires out but we need rain with no wind and no lightning.
@@LynsAlteredArts I know how you feel Lyn, this smoke is so bad, but I did hear that it may be getting better in a day or two, I live near Sacramento, not sure where you live. Hopefully it will be getting better for you too. 🦋
I have a funny story for you! When I made you the birthday collage paper, I showed my mom the video in which you were using it to collage your template holder. My mom shrieked, “She’s ripping it up!” I couldn’t stop laughing. I said. “That’s what I made it for, she’s a collage artist!” 😂🤣😂
Can you do a video on your book that you put your Diecuts . in it I would love to make one myself or buy one and where you got your diecuts like your butterflies.
Search Gayle Agostinelli Ephemera Folio on You Tube and the videos should come up. A lot of my butterflies came from Tracie Fox at Love Junk Journals. She has a digital as donn no others on Etsy. 😁❤️
Your videos remind me of when I worked in a craft store. We had endless supplies to work with in our classes and kept $ale$ up by 40% just showing people what they could do. Soft selling is what we called it.

Beautiful tags made from packing. I love the one with the giant flower. So much fun. Tfs. xxx
Yeah that cold snap was crazy for us too. Love all the goodies you made! Hugs, Amy💕😺
The more paper we use, the more scrap we make - a continual round-about! Really enjoyed the last two videos showing how to use up scraps. Best wishes
Love watching you collage, you give a newbie such great ideas, thank you from New Zealand.
I really admire your separated stash. It gives me hope for the future.
This is such a "no waste" hobby. It is fun to use things usually thrown away and using them in making lovely ephemera! Blessings -- Cindy
I loved this. I also tear up collage sheets. Lots of people using the same papers, it is nice to create something unique too. And the texture is a big part of it for sure. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to get more packaging used up! xx

I have never thought to do this. Love it for the recycling aspect and using stuff up!
Great job. Collages are so fun to use.
Great idea, saving time in and money, best of all save the world.

Stay safe, my friend! ❤️
scraps, scraps, scraps!
We had 5 days of rain (day and night) and it was in the mid 50's every day. We turned the heat on for our sugar gliders. Wisconsin
We could use some rain and cooler weather here in California, lol. We have seen blue sky in weeks, just smoke. And an orange sun. Cough cough
Charlean Sherrod me too, I’m in Antelope.
