Thanks again! Here is what I liked most. 1) Anything with a 555 timer in a well fitted kit. 2) Errors & corrections with mood setting tune "The Merry-go-Round Broke Down". 3) A few scenes from the smooth and quiet slow orbiting camera.
Very popular, yes, but in a relatively small group of people. Back in the day, there also used to be a bunch of hobby electronics (and other hobby engineering) magazines, nowadays Make: magazine can barely keep itself afloat.
Clean tip and a good soldering iron makes a huge difference in the aggravation factor when beginning or getting back into electronics. I like these little kits for practicing.
And the tips hold up pretty well, but if one is frugal, or has a sucker with less good/heat resistant tips, a short piece of suitable diameter silicone hose pushed onto the tip, leaving a couple mm extending makes a good addition. For the cost of one 'proper' replacement tip, the equivalent cost of silicone hose makes for a bunch of protectors/extenders.
try to learn how to hold the component, board, solder in one hand. makes life a lot easer in the long run. but then I've been soldering since I was 13, so I've had 52 years of practice. 😞 the first is the only one as i don't think we can see much above 25hz as flashing
Yeah, watching him struggle with soldering makes me cringe. It is so slow! There is no need for bluetac or helping hands - just place the component(s), flip the PCB and place it down on the bench. Gravity will hold the PCB down onto the component, so you just solder the leads.
Godamn. Relaxing.. yea until you blast the random carnival music out of nowhere.. jeez. What makes people want to do that crap. Like every electronic channel does it.. out of nowhere they just blast some random free music they found..
I normally only play music over parts where I speed up the video as there is no talking. But then I have the volume down a lot lower than the speech, just to provide a little background sound. but you can't please everyone which ever way you do it. Some of us have to use free music as we get no income to support our channels. 😞 I just watch the content I can always turn the volume down my end. 🙂
kind of have to agree about the music here, there are better titles that would be suited for a relaxing video, it could not have been much worse 🙈 .. at least it was 96% relaxing :D

This was a nice kit build, really enjoyable to watch. And i could not overlook your very well groomed fingernails. I highly appreciate that. 😊
I always use blue tack when soldering boards, makes the boards look super clean afterwards
Great video and the music fits perfectly. Some people just love to criticize.
You can't go far wrong with a 555 Kit. 👍
Really enjoyable and informative video. That music was totally suitable, haha. Thanks and cheers from Outback Australia. Rolf
It's so weird that with electronics engineering and development as popular as it is, companies like Heath kit and Radio Shack have still faded away.

What better practice than a little debugging ;) Very relaxing and beginner friendly though ! Thanks for the Video :)
Cheers!
Nice. The made in Japan 'engineer' solder suckers are really good.

i was waiting for the music to start when you said C-6. 🙂
c 6 steve 🙂
would suggest the overshoot in the high frequencies is an effect of You scopeProbe
Also possible. They're not the most expensive probes.
I see it came with a 2x4 header and one jumper, probably as an option instead of the DIP switches
That's exactly what it is. Universal Solder tends to give some options and/or extra parts in most of their kits.
Could've gone for the trifecta on the chip/socket silkscreen and made the circle around the hole for pin 1 a square...
Most important question is
How was the Stout?
Very nice. I enjoyed the rest of it while editing the video.
the trouble was the beer glass is still too full.
It got emptied while I was edting the video.

In this case, I was intentionally slowing down the entire video's pace as this kit is directed at beginners.
Maybe you can put a speaker on it, cheers
You're blaming us for swapping the caps? :/
It's the only reasonable explanation.🤔😁
Are you mad.... the Dip switch is the wrong way round... On - Right, Off - Left. (but as you built it, I guess its your choice ) but you wrong....lol
It's just the way the coin landed.
But in this case I can rationalize it as on = towards the label describing the function of each switch.

@@TheEmbeddedHobbyist come on.. you can't tell me that there are no chill tracks in the free library ^^
I thought it fit the clown show level mistake I made. 🤷
@pileofstuff its great that you show the mistakes, its too easy to cut them out to shorten the video. It's how we learn😀
