This game: you see a face that is mysterious in many ways, a figth that is beyond your knowledge. You see Yukari's true nature as the Youkai who lives in the Boundary of Everything
Actually she's calling upon the Lovecraftian gods using the "invitation letter" Yuyuko received. The silver key danmaku Yukari used is also a nod to Yog-Sothoth (The Key to the Gate) And if there's a sequel, I have a good hunch that the mastermind is definitely related to the Great Old Ones/Outer Gods O_O|||
i'd say yukari's take on a horror move, jeez those danmaku were terrifying af. who knew yukari could do this, oh wait we all did, yukari can do anything, she is one of the great 3 gensokyo sages
I would say it's the worst nightmare because you play as Sanae, which have the worst shot type in the game (almost impossible to capture the last spellcard of the 1st stage boss with barely 1-2 seconds left before the spellcard ended)

I'm starting to see a patterns in FDF games. -Stage 1 boss looks similiar to original one, but is still different -They swap out one character with a midboss or boss from another stage and put boss of one of stages as playable character -on stage 6 you will face stage 1 boss as a midboss -extra stage has two midbosses
So Yukari is the KeyBlade Alien Queen. Eat your heart out, Nue. All the alien spells are fine, but that spiderweb with eyes is downright terrifying. I think running away from Yukari slowly approaching while being trapped in a spiderweb with eyes is more terrifying than eyeball tentacle monsters.

ok seriously, FDF Is really well done. Yukari and Yuyuko's spell cards are absolutely beautiful. you really felt the "eyes" of Yukari's gaps with these spell cards. and the pell at 13:10, that really puts the ''spider'' in Ya''kumo'' now doesn't it? assuming the character for ''Kumo"" is spider
The fight is very creatively, and aesthetically well done And the music as well, they managed to arranged all of her themes, aka Evening Star, Necrofantasia, and Necro-Fantasia , and it's very creepy and intimidating in a good way
Is ran throwing fried tofu. Also, this was like, one of the only videos where more people are talking about the actual bullethell design and concepts rather than how hard it looks and such. So props to the team who made FDF on that one, but also, huge respect to actually being able to beat that stage, because jesus christ those non spells look like hell.
Wow. The danmaku festival games are top notch! I've always thought of Yukari as an eldritch abomination. To see that incorporated into a fight...to take the sugary sweet, moe, feudal japan fantasy land and make it scary...my hat's off to this game. This is officially my favorite Touhou fight, and it's not even canon!

I think the spider thing is kind of a pun on her name Yakumo (八雲). Kumo (くも) can mean cloud (雲) or spider (蜘蛛). She even has a spell called "Yakumo's nest"

The non spell in late game is complete BS, my friend told me it is streamable but the only path is so tight and you are probably not going to find it with everything happening on screen.
So far, I only got up to Yukari's second-to-last spell with Reimu (I know, but please throw me a bone here, I'm not that great), so I had to stop the video before you got to the end of that one. Can't spoil the final attack for myself, if I got so far. But yeah, definitely a game I was addicted to during the last week, especially trying to beat this damn stage for the last few days. I'm sure, I'll finish it some time in the near future though, altough it certainly will not be a really nice run with me often bombing and breaking those borders, even though trying to capture certain spells. As for the spells, I'm surprised, that I usually don't have much problem capturing certain ones. Like her 1st, 3rd, 5th or 8th spells are usually (but not always) not that bad for me. The others however... truly nightmares incarnate.

Honestly her damage output just get worse after fdf 1. And her shot type is literally "homing projectile-looking but it isn't" it's just a ball that deal low damage

Honestly her damage output just get worse after fdf 1. And her shot type is literally "homing projectile-looking but it isn't" it's just a ball that deal low damage

Can someone tell me what special trait does Sanae have in this game?I know in part 1 , If you bomb without focus you only deplete 3 bomb piece instead of 1 bomb.

Peculiar Yukari's spells are supposed to be mostly butterflies and those blady things she used in the original PCB
