A lot of people have problems with not just their jerseys but just their apparel in general. Colors fade, emblems and numbers fade or fall apart quickly
I'm in my 40s, and a Fanatics Blue Jays t-shirt has been one of a handful in my life that developed holes in the arm pits. And it was after a couple wears/washes. Any other brands, including fast fashion "low quality" have lasted much longer. Never again with Fanatics for me.
Two washes on my fanatics shirts and the letters and number already have multiple cracks. And this is knowing their shit so light wash on cold and mostly air-dried.
As a hockey and nhl jersey fan myself, this was an awesome video. From my experience When washing my nhl jerseys, i've always used put my washer on gentle cycle, cold water a little of your favorite laundry detergent and then let the jersey's air dry. They come out perfect every time. Would love to see a video of how you would take proper care and maintenance of your jerseys. Thank you a lot. Love the channel!
You know why I loved your channel so much for so many years now, you're just a guy with a board and his jerseys who knows his hockey! You're the best Shannon!
I removed the crest from my Starter jersey because of the bubbling issue. Discovered that they use felt behind the logo to give it that puffy look/feel. If you wash those jerseys in a machine, the felt moves around behind the logo and bunches up. You can't iron that out, but you can fix it if you remove the logo, fix the felt behind it and stitch it back on.
Oh, the current Mitchel and Ness, they look okay in certain pictures, but in person, they are as bad as or worse than some fakes I’ve seen. I saw a Hull Blues clown jersey by them at the team store, and I could write a dissertation on all the things wrong with it. And they were more expensive than the CURRENT NHL jerseys.
Exactly why I didn't buy the '06 Brind'amour jersey they did. Jersey looked OK, but the crest, numbers, nameplate, and patches were cheaper than anything Reebok did. And they wanted $250-300 for that thing.
Mitchell and Ness have gone downhill ever since Fanatics brought them. They used to produce really good and authentic retros, especially the MLB jerseys.
Maybe don’t wash your jerseys every single time you wear them? I wear my jerseys a lot and the only time I actually wash any of them is if I spill something on them. Otherwise you don’t need to….
Someone should sponsor you to make a jersey handbook, with exactly this ,cleaning section, fake vs real, and a checklist of Jerseys 😊....so much knowledge Shannon tk you
When I lived in LA, one of the coolest things I did was had custom jerseys made for a Beer League team I founded. The jerseys were made by Bobcat Athletic, who at the time had the contract to make jerseys for several NHL teams, including the Kings and the Lightning. Bob was an awesome guy, and the quality of the stitching was superb. My jerseys got delayed because he was making jerseys for both teams playing in the playoffs, so he never charged me for the work (only the materials). Absolutely stand up guy. If you're in LA and need jerseys, check out Bobcat Athletic, I heard Bob is still making jerseys.
The reverse retro 1.0 & 2.0 editions for the teams waa fun. There might be a 3.0 edition but what else can they think of? You can't top that idea, so it's a bit downhill from here. Crossover with another sport, perhaps something else???
I own the coat of arms LA Kings away and home . I am very intrigued about the scotch brite method you mentioned as they are my favourite jerseys . Will have to attend a meet up and get more info on that
I have two cats that I very much love to have on my lap at night, but I had to implement a hard rule of no cats on me when I’m wearing a jersey. Too many have gotten pulls on them from the slightest movements. Finally completed my 32 team collection, (no fakes as well) but will need to add Utah soon
I agree on Reeboks snagging bad. Had a nice thread pull in my Canes og black. I'll also add that they can get bubbles. I get plains to wear to games. Customs are to wear around or closet fodder.
@richardferguson6893 Shoot, I haven't washed any of my Reeboks and they got air bubbles in the crest. I haven't had issues with my Adidas ones. I have washed Nike NFL and a few Nike and Adidas college jerseys with no issues, but I don't press my luck with them lol.
Honestly basically just never wash it lol. I pretty much use my jerseys as outerwear over hoodies, so as long as you don’t spill shit on it it should be fine.
I have aero ready and primegreen home Stars jerseys. The aeroready one definitely has a nicer made logo than the prime green. I got a Fanatics version of Tampa's new third, and the front logo on that one had layers and texture. A lot closer to an Adidas. It and the nameplate were sewn on, but the numbers were that flimsy material.
I recently bought a Canucks skate jersey in white and the guy washed the jersey. I couldn't stand the smell of the detergent they used. It was so strong! So I sent it off for dry cleaning and it came back amazing! I dry clean all my jerseys.
Not a jersey collector, though I have a couple, but just wondering why, if the "authentics" are supposed to be the same as worn by NHL players in NHL games, they can be worn and washed 82 times a season in NHL games, and take the beating they get in NHL games, without falling apart, but if a fan buys one and washes it a couple of times, it does fall apart.
@@fantasticvoyage262 So that means "authentics" really aren't authentic. I always took "authentics" to mean exactly the same as the players wear, in games which is why they were so expensive. I guess not. I have one "authentic" that really seems to be authentic. I got it out of pure luck because I was in Boston shortly after the Gardens closed and they were trying to get rid of the stock in the fan store. I found a Ron Francis Pittsburgh jersey for $25 and it was so beautiful I bought it even though I'm not a Pens fan. I mean, for $25 how can you go wrong? It had the fight strap and embroidered letters & patches on the shoulders, but I've never washed it because I've never really worn it. Maybe once or twice in 30 years. So I don't know how it would stand up to washing.
@@RRaquello Correct as far as Adidas goes. Everyone before them made the on ice jersey that the players wore. But Adidas refuses to sell them. The semi authentics they make are still fairly good quality. But not what the players get. Fanatics will sell pro stock this year.

Bauer and SP made beautiful AHL jerseys. However, their jerseys with silver thread do not age well. I have a Hartford Wolfpack jersey with a wolf head done in silver thread. Over time the thread has actually corroded and my favorite jersey is unwearable.
