- 1. *Introduction of Community Service:* The BNS has included community service as a form of punishment for minor offenses. However, the definition and scope of this punishment have not yet been clarified.
2. *Use of Inclusive Language:* In Section 2(10), the term "transgender" has been included in the definition of gender. While some provisions, like those related to voyeurism, have been made gender-neutral, proper protection for male victims or transgender victims in sexual offenses has not yet been provided.
3. *Separate Offense for Snatching:* For the first time, the BNS has introduced snatching as a separate offense under Section 304, with a maximum punishment of up to 3 years.
4. *Separate Provision for Mob Lynching:* Section 103 distinctly makes mob lynching (especially based on religion, caste, etc.) a punishable offense, with provisions for death or life imprisonment.
5. *Removal of Colonial Laws:* The BNS has removed colonial laws such as Section 124A (sedition) and Section 377. However, some vague terms in Section 152 may require future judicial interpretation.
6. *Organised Crime and Misinformation:* Section 111 defines organized crime, and Section 353 makes the spread of misinformation a punishable offense.
