A first year architecture student here. We always make scale models during our first semester and now we're on our 2nd sem. This is so helpful! I've got to know different kind of materials to use since I only know sintra board and vinyl tiles.
It's been so long since I've watched your videos on time and commented, but I'm back! Thank you for this. Most people on my course develop ideas through drawing so I began to do that too, and though it has improved my diagrammatic skills and it is a lot quicker to generate ideas, I miss the my original thinking method of model making. Watching your videos inspires that again and makes me want to return to that! Thank you!
you helped me a lot make great drawings and architectural models ,and i always felt like i want to share pictures of the stuff i do , but i never had the courage , and i don’t know the place to share them . I really hope you consider this as a video idea in the future🙏🏻 , thank you ❤️
It comes by practice and team work, so you can steal the skill from your mates, personally I use pizza cartboard for study models and tooth pics and foam board for final presentations!
what i usually use back in the day when my instructor always requires a miniature for every design is "MATT BOARD". most of the time i get it for free from places that do Frames, this saves a lot of money hehehe, and the glue i used is "ELMERS GLUE" because it is so durable
I just started my second Architectural Freehand Drawing 2 class this week and History of Architecture 1 this summer semester. The drawing course is hard and since it is 5 weeks, you have to pay attention and keep up with the steps or you can easily fall behind with what is expected of that days assignment. I appreciate your videos and I enjoy watching them. Thank you.

When we do scale model before we usually go to some shop that make some picture frames and buy some of their unused or scrap mat board and sintra board this save us allot of time and we save more money because it's scrap the price is more lower well depends on the owner if how much they willing to give you but usually it's much lower ✌✌
I just want to share too that vinyl tiles may also possible to use in making scaled models it has a lot of variety to choose colors, textures and thickness .Just sharing cause it is one that I use in making my models
Dude do u know any sketchup extension that can make planar faces out of just lines in imported cad drawings? Very tedious to fill in all the gaps once i import it in sketchup...
I just explode the imported cad drawing then underlay a plane that is at the same axis as the cad drawings. then i group and ungroup them until all lines are part of the plane.
Thank for the tip.. Mag gagawa panamn kami ng scale model for finals.. Pero pwede din substitute din ang vinyl tiles for scale model cheap lang din tas may ibat ibang styles kaso mahirap lang gamitin😅😅

It may depend on the school you attend. Do your associates in architecture at a community college and then transfer to a university that offers architecture Bachelor's degrees. Good luck to you.

You look like if a new york/boston guy at work said 'I'll just ring my buddy and ask his opinion on how we should go about doing this, he knows his stuff and besides he owes me a favour' and you'd be the guy to turn up, then you'd start measuring things in proportion using your hand and you'd whip out a spirit level, measure the foundation and the terrain around it and be like '...seriously? Forget an extension, this whole building needs to be demolished and rebuilt before it's safe for someone to even be within 5 feet of it. I'm surprised it hasn't collapsed in on itself yet.' No offense lol
