    It also depends on the style of head strap you use. If you use a halo style like bobovr or Jayol (which are much more comfortable as they completely take the pressure off your face) you may want to look at the AMVR. It has a pliable rubber-like surround and 2 "leather" pads that are thinner than VR Cover or Kiwi so you get a little better FOV. The thickness of the pad is less important for comfort as the halo style strap lets the headset float in front of your face instead of being smashed against your face like the stock strap or any elite style strap.

    The new upgraded Kiwi one with the sports pad is fantastic. Though I find it a little too thick and the nose light blocker almost does nothing for me. It does absorb sweat well, is machine washable and keeps your face cool.

I really liked the last of the 4 that you showe. the VR cover that also mates up well with the Meta glass spacer. My queston(s): I have a Quest3. Quest 2 facial interfaces will not work with the Quest 3 as it's a different shape. You will need a Quest 3 specific facial interface, like this one here that I've already reviewed -> th-cam.com/video/9domR0GYZWs/w-d-xo.html 😊 The glasses spacer is built into the facial interface of this one!

    i ended up using a comibnation of three different products, mostly because of the fact that any silicon or leather-type pad just lets the sweat drop down your face after a while, especially if you play sports games. Also for me, it just doesn't feel comfortable at all and i can't stand feeling leather on my face. Also i wear glasses and i have to be as near as possible to the lenses, which was only possible using a very thin pad and the interface that puts me as close to the lenses as possible. To make this all work i am using the cotton cover from VR Cover to put over a bracket from VR Cover and a thin pad from AMVR. Since i am using a modified headstrap too with additional pads at the top and back the headset almost fits like a hat on my head, so i do not feel any weight of the headset at the fron at all. It took me quite a while testing tons of interfaces, headstraps and additional items to figure the best fit for me.

    • @MyTechGearGaming
      @MyTechGearGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a lot of trial and error but sounds like you've finally got a setup that works well for you. You might want to try prescription lenses as then you can ditch your glasses and get even closer to the screen if you wish. I have a review coming out in a few days on the new Fitness Facial interface from kiwi design that might just be the answer to your prayers too. Keep an eye out for it when it goes live at the weekend.

    VR Cover's $30 Fitness Interface. End of story. 🤷‍♂️
    And if you happen to also want maximum FOV at the expense of some comfort then you get VR Cover's optional $20 "Minimal Foam Replacement Set" as well, which has even THINNER foam pieces than what the interface comes with for basically the highest FOV you can currently get out of a Quest 2 atm.
    (The smaller foam from the two piece "Minimal Set" brings the Quest 2's FOV up from about ≈90° when totally stock, to a hefty ≈100° which cuts the real-world/measured FOV gap between it & the Index LITERALLY IN HALF!!! O_____O)

    I'm very happy with the VR Cover Standard facial interface with their inexpensive eyeglass spacer (stock Q2 spacer does not fit) and their Cool pads (nice memory foam, same as supplied with the fitness, and I use the thin one). I removed the nose piece because I VR a lot with flight sims and I like to be able to peek a a little at my controls/keyboard. As long as I don't have strong lighting I don't notice any extra light leakage and it completely eliminates fogging. I also found that this has about 3mm more side clearance than stock so it's much easier to put on/off with my glasses.
    I have not tried the Kiwi one but their Q1 version worked very well with my old Q1. The VR Cover Fitness one is not recommended for glasses wearers because the spacer causes too much light leakage.
    I did get the free silicon cover for my 64Gb Q2 and tried it out. However, not only did this not fit very well, it made me sweat like crazy.

    • @MyTechGearGaming
      @MyTechGearGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like you've got a great set up that works really well for you. I did try the VR Cover Fitness one with the stock glasses spacer and didn't notice any light leakage issues myself. I do like that they've made it so that it works with the default spacer rather than having to buy another. I'm not a huge fan of silicon covers either as I think you sweat more with them on too. However, it's better than having the foam from the default face cover direct on your face. Happy Questing Tom! 😊

    I face the an issue with all of the alternatives, and that is it's like sitting bare-legged on a leather chair (in a car) in the summer. It's just causes sweat pooling/rash. Whereas the foam interface does wick it away. This can be gross if not cleaned, however feels much better and doesn't cause the skin irritation that all the smooth non-pourous interfaces cause. This causes me to need to remove any of these interfaces within a half hour to wipe down my face and the interface, however with the straight foam (no silicone sock) I can play for 8 hours on end without issue or needing to take off the HMD. (It does not feel wet or sweaty when I'm finished either).
    It is possible that I may have a mild allergy to whatever common element exists in the silicone sock and all the (faux) leather surfaces, however it seems to me that the issue is they are smooth and non-pourous.

    Is there any without that little nose bit I find it to be uncomfortable I like the normal quest padding but yet agian its foam I tried a face pad before but there was a bunch of light leak everywhere and the nose peice was flimsy

    • @MyTechGearGaming
      @MyTechGearGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      the nose guard is optional. You don't have to install it. It just means that there will be more light leakage from underneath if you don't use it.

    • @G8tb
      @G8tb ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess. but with the default oculus facial interface the padding goes all the way around instead of stopping near the nose. I like that on the default one because it's not annoying on my nose and I blocks a little more light than if there was nothing there.

      I haven't tried it myself. It's an active rather than passive cooling design. Personally I'd rather have passive cooling so I'm not adding more weight to the front of the headset with the fan unit and also having another thing I need to charge.

      After reading the reviews I don’t think as of right now it’s the best option. A lot of people are saying that it’s really bad with quality control and then it falls off if you get a bad one. Plus you have to charge it every once in a while was just leaves an extra hassle

    The one thing I want to know is whether or not there is a difference in comfort. The original interface feels kind of hard and non comformative on my fave when I tighten the headset enough for active play. There are pressure points especially on my cheekbones. I would love to know if the alternatives solve this problem.

    • @MyTechGearGaming
      @MyTechGearGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do find the alternative facial interfaces softer and more comfortable than the original one. You don't say what headstrap you have though as that can play a huge role in comfort too. Both the facial interface and the headstrap are 2 things I think are critical to upgrade to get the most comfortable setup.

    I ended up going with VR Cover's version. I have yet to receive it as I literally just ordered it, but I've heard more things about it and as you've mentioned, the customization of the interface is more appealing to me. I have read things about the nose guard not working properly for people with small noses, which could end up being a problem me. I also read a very miniscule amount of reviews sayings it's not overly glasses friendly, but we'll find out. At least I'll have a backup option if things are not to my liking. Thanks for the reviews.

    • @MyTechGearGaming
      @MyTechGearGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends which version of the VR Cover one you talk about. Definitely their first one had issues with the nose guard and it didn't have a glasses spacer. However, their new fitness facial interface has fixed alot of these issues with a redesigned nose guard and it's now compatible with the default glasses spacer that comes with your headset. Have fun when it arrives!

    • @TheSilentCheetah
      @TheSilentCheetah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyTechGearGaming Yeah I got their new Fitness Facial Interface. I knew it was compatible with the glasses spacer unlike their previous one. Sill, I read just a small amount of reviews that say that even with that, it's still not overly friendly. Definitely not a majority issue, but even with that, the glasses spacer for me personally never seemed to actually work well. I found that on occasion they still pressed up against the lenses. No scratches thanfully. I just bought Kiwis lens protectors as an extra precaution though since Oculus (or Meta now) doesn't offer lens replacement of repair. Better safe than sorry.
