thekrazycouponl... Watch as Heather Wheeler from TheKrazyCouponLady.com, takes you along (coupons and all) to Shop at Walgreens! Watch as we roll our Register Rewards and save almost 90%!
Hey Heather, I'm a Walgreens store manager and I loved watching this! I like how you're well-prepared so the cashier is not confused or having to spend a lot of time figuring out the coupons. Great deals for you, and no hassle for anyone else. Awesome couponing!
It's annoying when people don't know how to put items back where they got them from; like the plastic spoons...it's not that difficult to hang them back on the rack
Those asking about filler items - this is when you have 10 items, but you may have twelve coupons to use. You need to have at least 12 items, since you can't have more coupons than products. So she was showing to pick up some small, inexpensive items to allow all the coupons to go through. I am brand new at this, but I've been studying up and I love these women! I used the KCL tracking last night and overall I've saved 44% on my purchases! I recently stocked up on cold meds, due to all the coupons, rebates, etc. I ended up paying $.50 per item, where normally during cold season I would shell out $7.99 because we needed it. Planning ahead and being prepared is key! Thank you KCL!
being a cashier at Walgreen's, I just want to clear up a rule about Register Rewards that most of my customers get confused about. RRs are good one per offer. let's say, for example, the Colgate is free after RR. if you were to buy two in the same transaction, you will only get one RR. this also rule also applies if you try to use the RR on the same product in separate transactions. if you buy the Colgate, get the RR, the use that RR on the same Colgate in a separate transaction, you won't get the second RR because the system recognizes that you already got one. Also, (now that I am thinking about it) RRs are manufacture coupons, not store coupons. I hope this clears things up for someone out there and makes it easier to work with the system. I was kind of surprised she didn't mention it in the video. Happy Shopping! ^_^
I don't understand where these couponers get $3 off coupons. That's rare... Usually you get 75 cents off TWO items that cost at least 5 dollars anyway... Good for you, though. Glad you have those high priced coupons.
Learned a few extra tips. Took some notes. I just started about 3 months ago. Single mother of 2. So every $$ really counts for us. Love it!! Thank you.
Thank You For This Video..I Have Already Started Using The Envelope System..It Really Helps In Not Having To Search For The Coupons I Need When Checking Out..Organization Is The Key To A Successful Shopping Trip.*
wow..great job,but seriously this is not the norm...especially with people in line behind you...I would be a nervous wreck, you have to have nerves of steel...I fall apart.
I'm a cashier at Cub Foods and usually the $ big $3 coupons are from the customer calling the company and complaining about the product or its packaging. You may be able to sign up on their email list. ;)
Thank you for the great tips! I am the mother of 5 active teens, and have started my binder, and clip coupons daily! I did not know you could do the separate the rewards and use them for the next transaction. I have to shop when it is not busy.
@mynameisnterin I live in Oregon and we have 0% tax so when I get free stuff, it is really FREE!! @TheKrazyCouponLady you are awesome! Love your videos!!! : )
Register rewards are not good on "anything in the store". Prescriptions, gift cards, alcohol, health care clinic services and tobacco are a few things ineligible to use a register reward on.
Also, a good thing to remember is that you have to present your Walgreens balance reward card to get their sales prices and this was not mentioned. It gaurantees the lower prices and accumulates points from specific items stated in the circular that you can use like money towards a future purchase.
I am new at this and am really trying to follow along :) but I am wondering how you keep it all so organized??? I always leave a little frazzled!! Lol!! So do you use your Wallgreens card? I didn't see you using it and I wondered if that affects your rewards?
Most places don't allow customers to do separate transactions as it's against store policy. Was she allowed to do this just for the video? Most couponers have to go to more than one store. Btw, is she/are you foreign because maybe I'm dreaming but I heard a slight foreign accent?
I just got out of Walgreens and the cashier said I could only use my RR as my first coupons instead of last, as I handed her my in store and other manufacturers coupons first. .. is this true? I thought RR coupons should be used last. She was going to have to void something and re do the order so I said forget it ughhhh
@BeckyTeddy thank you for explaining that, i didn't know either. After readin this and watching the video, it means if you have multiple coupons (store/manufacture) for a single item, you have to have other items (you called fillers) to even out the coupon/items bought ratio. right? such as the little caramel thing at the counter.
That was awesome. It sure helped me. I did a CVS yesterday and came out almost crying. I dud get the bengay from 5.49 to ,49. And I got 2 of them. The rest....not so well. Not to mention the fact that my coupon book fell off the cart, with the help of a 2 year old, and busted open. Than God the cashier was so friendly!!!
It's good you had the cashier to yourself because at my walgreens is always a line a long line so people would get mad if you do more than one transaction at a time guess I'll take a friend with me I love walgreens!
Just discovered your channel and website... Absolutely LOVE!!! You explained things so well and answered a lot of questions of mine. I'm just getting started with coupons so it is overwhelming at times. I will definitely be recommending your videos and website to friends and family.
At my regular Walgreen's store, on Tuesday is an extra discount for 55+ and AARP members - 20% off any regular priced item as well as having extra unadvertised specials. And remember you cannot use bonus rewards on the same day you earn them, like on a second transaction. The program ( computerized) does not add them immediately to your account.
I am a bit confused when you said the Nivea wash was 3.75 and you had a $3 off coupon , so does that mean that one coupon works with all the Nivea washes that you bought or you have 3 Nivea coupons ?
@julian262004 Yes, you can use it the same day. You can use as many RRs as you want, as long as your ratio to coupons (including RRs) and items is equal.
@couturelover1000 Fillers are inexpensive items you purchase at Walgreens so that you have the same number of items and manufacturer coupons, including Register Rewards. SO, if you are buying 1 item and you use 1 manufacturer coupon for $1.00 off 1 AND you want to use a $1.00 Register Reward that valid off ANY purchase, you would need to add in a filler item so that the register doesn't reject your second coupon.
Using a credit card like Upromise will give you extra savings for college. Upromise.com. Also use paper bags instead of plastic or recyclable. The American paper industry is dying. They grow pine trees in farms, replant multiples for each one cut. Paper is compostable and recyclable.
@TheKrazyCouponLady Okay its only 2 and a half where i live!!! and Heather and jonie I love you videos watching them got me started coponing thanks soo much!~!!
I was only able to roll over 1 RR per day, according to the cashier. Is that only in my store? Or is this a new store policy? I can't seem to find a concrete answer. Manager said same thing, 1 RR per day. Thank you.
Filler?!??!????? what is filler and why... your website dose not cover this is the in the "learn the lengo" section of "thekrazycouponlady com/beginners"
My family has 9 kids, and in 2005, my mom spent around $20,000 a trip. Since we now coupon, we only spend around $200, while we still have 15 carts to push around the store. Couponing is great, regular transactions of $100 in my family would just be 1 day meals for everyone, now it lasts us around 2 weeks!
I really like the helpful tips, but could you please put things back where you got them. Or if it's too hard to remember where you got them then hand the item to an employee.....and guess what they are coupon cutters too so try to be respectful of their time and energy that goes into making your trip easier.
I can understand wanting to save money. But geez, I wouldn't blame the employee if they had a bit of an attitude. That's a TON of extra work. But like I said, definitely can't blame people for saving as much as possible.
@couturelover1000 at Walgreens u can stack store coupons with manuf. coupons but you cannot use more coupons than you have items. for example If I buy bodywash on sale for 3.00 and have a walgreens coupon for $1.50 off and a manuf. coupon for 1.50 off I can use both of the coupons together. but I would have to buy a filler in order to do that because I would only have one item and two coupons. So you can buy like a .25 piece of candy as your filler to use both of your coupons. HTH
@bigbuggie5 Because she was getting register rewards on different items, and they can only be used for the next transaction. So by paying for some of the items in 2nd or even 3rd transaction, she was able to use the rewards and get the cost down really low. Also on some of the items that had transaction rewards, she was only able to get one reward per transaction, so to maximize savings and stock up, she would pay for the items in separate transactions to get a reward on each.
@couturelover1000 At Walgreens , you are suppose to have the same amount of coupons and the same amount of items. So if you have 10 coupons and 9 items, you would have to use an item to fill it up (filler item) Adding the filler item would make 10 coupons and 10 items, that makes a successful transaction.
Can you go into more detail as to why you had to do three transactions? Also, do you ever get any flack for splitting them in one pass through the line?
@couturelover1000 Filler items are items you don't get register rewards (RRs) for, but are still cheap. This is to make it so you use all your register rewards on one trip without paying too much. For instance, lets say on transaction 1, I pay 10 dollars and get 9 dollars in register rewards. Filler items are the items that would add up to 9 dollars, but not give me any more register rewards. I hope this helps!
@marygolddk yes they can, if you only pay .99 they modify your coupon to sale price. what you want them to give you money for going into their stores???????? get real.......
@couturelover1000 Here is an explanation from another coupon blog " You have to have as many items purchased as coupons (RR is considered a coupon)! If you bought one Olay and tried to use a coupon and a RR to pay, it would not be accepted. You would need to buy one more item so you have 2 products and 2 coupons." Basically if you buy 10 items you can't have 11 coupons (including RRs), if you buy 3 items you can't have 4 coupons, etc, etc...
Im new at couponing and the past 2 times i went to walgreens I bought items that were supposed to print register rewards it didn't. I bought 2 bags of twizzlers on sale for 2 for 3 and had 2 coupons for .75/1 and the other time I bought hair scunchis on sale for 2 for 3 . Anyone know why they wouldn't print. Thanks
Just a reminder if you have a Walgreens Prescription Savings Club card or WCard, you get a 10% rebate put on the card for your next purchase. So if you were to buy the filler that was mentioned on the clearance rack (the Walgreens brand plastic forks), you would get $0.05 on that card to use the next time. So Walgreens brand is a good filler if you have the card!
@couturelover1000 Fillers are when you have an overage after using your RR and coupons so you don't lose the money that you would get back if they gave money back on your credit,, so instead of losing the overage..also at Walgreen's you can't have more coupons than items purchased..the reason you see her pick up the candy at the register.
been couponing for a little bit - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE - but I am missing something... what is a filler for??? Feel really STOOPID - I've read a lot and I have NO CLUE!!! Maybe I should wait the 2 days it's going to take for your book to get to me..... nahhh - WHAT IS A FILLER??? Thanks!! Christy - Will Shimmy for Coupons!!!
did they shut down the whole store because of her making this video. cant see any other customers?!
Hey Heather, I'm a Walgreens store manager and I loved watching this! I like how you're well-prepared so the cashier is not confused or having to spend a lot of time figuring out the coupons. Great deals for you, and no hassle for anyone else. Awesome couponing!

I like how you just take your time haha you make it seem so graceful.. I would be all jittery and guilty even though couponing is legit.
LOL DANGEROUS COOKIES!
Learned a few extra tips. Took some notes. I just started about 3 months ago. Single mother of 2. So every $$ really counts for us. Love it!! Thank you.

really great ideas. i'm a single father so these kind of videos are always helpful. thanks
Was the store closed when you filmed this? If you try to film this in Brooklyn, they will run you over with their shopping carts. :)
wow..great job,but seriously this is not the norm...especially with people in line behind you...I would be a nervous wreck, you have to have nerves of steel...I fall apart.
What a nice clean and neat store.. I'm sure it was set up just for you.... lol Love your video's. Thanks so much, I'm learning a lot.
I'm a cashier at Cub Foods and usually the $ big $3 coupons are from the customer calling the company and complaining about the product or its packaging. You may be able to sign up on their email list. ;)
I love it when people actually show you the whole shopping trip.
Thank you :)
When it says 3.00 off the nivea and they cost 3.79 - how do you know they will take 3 dollars off of every nivea bottle and not just one?
I showed this video to a group of high school students and they loved it.
filler items are items you buy in order to cover the amount of overage you total
Wow!! Awesome!! I'm ready to get addicted! Newbie here!! ;) ~YG
Thank you for the great tips! I am the mother of 5 active teens, and have started my binder, and clip coupons daily! I did not know you could do the separate the rewards and use them for the next transaction. I have to shop when it is not busy.
Thank you so very much! I have been waiting for a video that was so clear and concise. It's nice to have a visual. Applause!!!

@mynameisnterin I live in Oregon and we have 0% tax so when I get free stuff, it is really FREE!!
@TheKrazyCouponLady you are awesome! Love your videos!!! : )
@ballamedic18 You can use as many as you want- you just have to have the same number of items and coupons, including RRs.
What do you mean by filler items?
New to this
Register rewards are not good on "anything in the store". Prescriptions, gift cards, alcohol, health care clinic services and tobacco are a few things ineligible to use a register reward on.
Ohhh how clever!! Makes me wanna go browse walgreens right now! Lol. Great video. Xoxo
Also, a good thing to remember is that you have to present your Walgreens balance reward card to get their sales prices and this was not mentioned. It gaurantees the lower prices and accumulates points from specific items stated in the circular that you can use like money towards a future purchase.
where do you get most of your coupons I want to learn how to do this
I am new at this and am really trying to follow along :) but I am wondering how you keep it all so organized??? I always leave a little frazzled!! Lol!! So do you use your Wallgreens card? I didn't see you using it and I wondered if that affects your rewards?
does walgreens accept manufacturer coupons?
I'm going to walgreens tomorrow and if my calculations are right I will save about 65%
Most places don't allow customers to do separate transactions as it's against store policy. Was she allowed to do this just for the video? Most couponers have to go to more than one store.

The monthly coupon book, can u use the coupon more than one time or u can only use it once???

@julian262004 Yes, you can use it the same day. You can use as many RRs as you want, as long as your ratio to coupons (including RRs) and items is equal.
You have to be careful though because if your 1 coupon says for two or more that counts for that many items.
Thank you your video was great because im beginner couponer in a small town where we dont really get a lot of coupons every bit hslps.
I wish I could go shopping with you! Very helpful watching you actually shop and calculate things

What are filler items?
@bigbuggie5 Because she is rolling her catalina coupons that she got from her first transaction. Its like using money insead of her own.
@LOV3SMakeup They usually have NO limit, so as many times as you want.

@artemisrain If the limit is 1 in the ad, then yes, you have to separate your transactions in order to buy more than 1.
can you use peelies and a mfc for the same item??
I havn't shopped at Walgreens in a long time. I guess I need to start going back since I can save so much.
cause sometimes the coupons let you only buy one item per transaction thats why.....
Filler?!??!????? what is filler and why... your website dose not cover this is the in the "learn the lengo" section of "thekrazycouponlady com/beginners"

thank you for making this video it's good to see how it works than just read about it. thank you ♥♥♥
What are some great stores for extreme couponing? I really want to try this because I feel I can help alot of people.
Can someone tell me why she did 3 transactions? Why not just do it all at once?
why walgreens empty they pay you to do this ?can they let you record in there?
Love MARS! My dad works for them :)

do a video at cvs
Oreos are so bloody dangrouse
Very nice. still confusing but I'll try applying this. Thanx!!!
You used your credit card for a two dollar purchase?
that might work, 50% off and sale price at wal-greens does not work.
Because Oreos are dangerous...
WOW! Thanks so much for sharing this video!!!!!!!
@mynameisnterin Move to Idaho!
@marygolddk
yes they can, if you only pay .99 they modify your coupon to sale price. what you want them to give you money for going into their stores???????? get real.......
