I have a friend who used the mk1 facecam and now has the facecam pro, the grain is existent on both, it seems to be down to the signal processing maybe? I know windows isn't the best when it comes to processing video which is why capture cards can make a massive difference so it's hard to say if it's the OS or the camera itself. it's evident in well lit scenes so it's not to do with low light as such, they look good on streams as long as they're never full screen cameras. If they are paired with gameplay or reacting to content, you can't notice the grain as such
Yes, along as the camera itself doesn’t process the video the image will always have noise that’s noticeable full screen. As a simple webcam yes it can be useful and look good next to gameplay.
I bought the same camera, for a 1080p webcam it’s great and I disagree on the colors and such. Of course you’d prefer a good mirrorless camera feeding through a cam link but I’ve gotten nothing but compliments about the camera. You also need to consider using some sort of lighting vs potentially sitting in the dark. Yes there is some noise, but the better the lighting situation and you drop the ISO, the grain does go away for the most part. You need to also consider that when you stream, that grain is not going to come across due to compression. And no I’m not a noob, I’ve been in the game a very long time, you are right about the HDR mode, it’s complete garbage and a gimmick to sell the camera, you don’t need HDR indoors for most situations. I do also agree that tint should be added though. But you do want the camera flat out of the box, it gives you more control. It’s not perfect, it’s probably a 7/10.
I think it would depend on what your looking for. if your wanting a nice camera with a gimbal head to follow you around your room the Insta360 Link 2C is the best pick but from what iv seen the elgato facecam Pro still is the the best price webcam out there for image.
I understand where your coming from. I still think it might of been down to the unit I had. but from my experience with it I don't think it lived up to the hype around it. maybe if you are just throwing into the corner of your video then yes the image will look good and a 1/4 of the size. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a MK 3 in 2025 for this. or at least a pro MK2.
I couldn't agree more! I have loads of Elgato gear and they all are buggy. I have OG Facecam that crapped out after a year. Tried the MK2, that one looked worse than OG, but really it's the software issues and camera cutting out in OBS ALL THE TIME! I switched to Logi MX Brio recently and that webcam just works, it just works! I like Elgato but man there stuff is buggy!! Great video!!
Yes i think its to do with there cheap but ready to go mind set when it comes to items the people want when making content. the idea is good but the execution quite there. Yes the Logi MX Brio is a very nice webcam bit on the pricy side but good image from it. thanks for the comment man!
@@DeathFlame500 Personally I don't think its the ease of editing but the resources out there for people to get started with are simple to get hold of. @@Kristianbelle i suppose I mean software wise it’s easier and more user friendly than years ago. iMovie is great and with adobe being subscription based it’s easier to dive in than spending hundreds on software like Final Cut for example
Interestingly enough, I bought the Mk.2 two months ago. And i absolutely loved it….until recently. Before I wouldn’t have a problem using it along side discord and gaming at the same time. But now that I am playing The First Descendants it is sooooooo laggy. Now it may have to do with the game itself because from what I am told it is a very CPU intensive game. Just really upset that I can’t use this while gaming right now. 😭 also great video!
yes I under stand your problems. the camera / software is good but the camera does rely on your pc to do the heavy lifting. to its core the camera is just a one inch senor with a little control/ memory unit getting the data to your pc. non of the processing is done in the camera itself. you might find upgrading your CPU or offloading some of the other things running on your pc to somewhere else. I'm only running a AMD 7600X. also thank you for watching / commenting.
Recién la compre y la usaré para grabar videos sobre análisis políticos y la verdad para el uso que quiero darle creo que es mil veces mejor que mi anterior c922. Es cierto que soporta 120 fps?. Saludos y gran video, sigue así.
That's Great, its a good webcam for certain use cases. it just wasn't the webcam for me. The elgato facecam MK2 is limited at 1080p 60FPS but The Dji pocket 3 is what I swapped to and that's able to do 120FPS in 4K.
Yes it agree I use the wave 3 mic and it’s amazing along with there other product are good but I’m just not too sure about the cameras maybe there putting too much trust and reliance on their software to make up for the camera hardware. As I said in the video the software camera hub is amazing. Probably one of the best ones out there .
Idk man I got my settings right and my camera looks great. I did have one issue with it, but currently I gotta admit mine looks good! Also gave you a like anyway lol
That’s great man that it looks good for you I personally couldn’t get it to anywhere near the other videos out there on TH-cam. As I mentioned in the video maybe it was my unit I had I might give it another go down the line. Thank you for the like.
I ended up getting the obsbot tiny 2 lite instead of the elgato, same price range but much better quality software and image quality, also supports 4k30, but I prefer 1080p60
Nice choice yes I did think about that camera but thought elgato wouldn’t be able to stand out from the ground. Happy that camera is working out for you.
@@Kristianbelle I saw the video after about the pocket 3, that's one hell of a camera, nice pick! I think if my webcam budget was significantly higher I woulda gone for it.
@@PvMLad thanks man yes its a great camera for the price I just thought might as well spend a bit more if I'm able to use it for a lot more stuff then just a webcam. maybe worth looking into the dji pocket 4 in a few years time if they make one.
Thanks for the comment man. you just simply need the lgato epoc app on your phone along with the elgato camera hub downloaded onto your pc/ mac what ever you want to use and that's it. il be making a video about it in detail this week
@@Kristianbelle brother thanks for the answer but I also wanted to know do you get lag or does your phone heat or is there a way to use your iphone as a wired webcam like camlink or anything else
I mean, who's using webcams for anything but streaming on Twitch? Even a Logitech 920 looks great in that tiny window, and they're using OBS or Streammate to tweak settings anyways.
that is true. but as tech progresses and screens get better improving your camera for livestream to video content can be impotent. my problem was that its push to be a all use case webcam but even at its base it was falling behind. best thing about elagto i have to give them is there software. able to change setting and adjust everything within the camera hub is great giving you better control.
Believe it or not the iphone takes away the color of your skin and kinda makes you look ghostly. I like to see peoples natural complexshun. As an american trying to white out depth of skincolor to pale is, tacky af. U can tinker the mk.2 to look real good. Theres tutorials out there. Idk, im not spending 5500 bucks on a nikon n9 for a better video feed of my face. 120 bucks is fine, and your phones battery is only good for 1000 charges, so using it as a web cam will nuke the life from your battery, and if its not replaceable, then that sucks more. Just sayin. A lil noise aint a big deal when your face is like a 2x3 inch spot on a 32 inch ultrawide. And for color accuracy, youll always be off unless you got a monitor that is calibrated, and of high quality. I can tell. Also for noise as a youtuber, the difference from iphone to facecam, well, the youtube compresses the files and they have noise either way you slice it. Just sayin. Mk2 is enough unless your spending a used car on a camera lol
