Of ALL the videos I get in my INBOX . I have a few go to's .. YOU .. YOU are my New GUY .. Awesome tips .. So well presented .. Easy to follow .. AWESOME results .. Excellent .. Thank YOU Matt
Matt i have struggled so much in bunkers for years having watched your video you have eliminated all fears and gave me amazing confidence .all fear gone completely.just amazing.thank you.Des Ireland.
Mr. SG, Took this tip to the practice area and it worked immediately, just needed to take it out and hinge up. Went to the course and was 3 for 3 exiting bunkers. Gave me a lot of confidence. Thank you.
Love the bunker tips! Wide stance and accelerate through the ball as well as quiet hands. I got out of all 4 bunkers the other day thanks to your tips with no practice. Just execution of your tips. Now I hit from one to another because of a sidehill lie but that can be fixed with setup. Love the content!
Super thanks! I'll try it. I litteraly poop every time I get the ball in the bunker! Ruins my hole!! I'll over your grip video. I can't believe how helpful it was. Helped me fix a 5 year slicing problem!
I struggled a few rounds ago getting out of the sand and realized I jut don’t have any kind of technique for it so went to my dude Mr. Short game ! After this video I went out and did much better out of the sand and actually helped me tie my best round ever ! I still have to adjust for distance but u definitely helped me get out the beach on first attempts ! U da man 👊🏼
Wow! It worked! I used a bunch of your tips today and shot an 80 from the closes tees. Shot a bunch of shots I dont normally shoot on my home track. Big confidence boost. I enjoyed it so much I'm going to do it again this time I will break 80.
You are so right Matt. I am so obsessed with cupping my wrist and how open the face looks in the backswing that it messes me up a lot. I'll try this and I already know it is going to free me up for better bunker shots. Thanks.
With out a doubt these are the best videos I have watched for teaching and most importantly understanding what to do on the golf course. Love the energy and enthusiasm of MrShortGame. Can’t get enough of them.
After watching your videos as a beginner golfer I am really learning a lot and enjoying my golf. Battled with my short game and bunkers shots but your videos are great and helping me a lot. Robin from South Africa
Like the simplicity of your explanation. Will try these tips. Wide stance with weight forward, ball position forward center, hands even with club lean or slightly behind (not ahead), face slightly open, not a huge back swing, hinge club but be mindful of not using too much hand or wrist motion.
Matt, Thanks for the great video bro! Could you please cover the technique for hitting out of hard packed sand vs the plush sand trap you use in this video? The technique you show here works great for me in traps with plenty of sand 👍but when there's little to no sand, this technique causes problems.
I'm not a pro but I've been told by my coach the only adjustment you need to make is swing the club a little slower and don't take as much sand. I tend to move the ball back in my stance relative to the soft sand, but I still open the face just a touch. I'm sure this isn't a hard and fast rule but it's worked for me. I actually find firm sand easier to hit off of than soft sand because it's really hard to leave the ball in the bunker when its firm. I've fatted soft sand shots and left them in bunkers more times than I'd like to admit...
Agreed. Hard bunkers are quite common in Arizona, especially at the muni courses. Also, a downhill lie in the sand would be helpful, at least to touch on what the recommendation would be.
I like these tips. Wide stance because you don't want to rotate hips. You want only vertical wrist hinge, and you want to deliberately swing over the top. Saying your name is something new. I will try it.
Matt, I love bunker shots but I’m not very consistent. There’s a pretty big difference in your instruction on blade position on bunker shots from this video and the one a year before this. You state in the first one to open the face “completely” where the ball will sit on the face. In this one you say to open open slightly, one little notch, not too much. Did something change your mind or are there variables you’re not telling us?
Hi from Montréal canada, u are an incredible teacher u gave me great tips that saved my short game i finally elimineted the chipping yips that i had for almost 2 years Thanks To you for that, now i can enjoy the game again
Best entertaining instructor for golf. Just listening to his tips has taken 10 STROKES off my golf game. I feel like i owe him some ca$h but I will probably purchase some of his gear. Love that hat too.
Great video Matt. I was hinging a lot, so I'll try calming that down. My real problem is bunker shots from maybe 30-40 yards to the pin. Maybe someday you could give us a video about that. Thanks for your videos. Very easy to learn from!
For distance control, use the same technique and swing speed as Matt is advocating but switch clubs. 60 degree for 10 yd shot, SW for 20 yd shot, gap wedge for 30 yds and PW for 40 yds
Thanks Matt for the video and all the time u put into making them. Query.....how is the bunker shot finish in relations to the hands and wrist. I was always told it was like flipping the club. Is this correct?
Great tip Matt and it sounds so simple, just loving your tips they are very well explained, you're a excellent player, very consistent and the bad shots are still pretty good, I'm a low low marker and watching your tips make more sense than some of the coaches I've seen, cheers Aussie Mark
I was thinking about why students don't like to practice bunker shots. I did an informal survey. These are the reasons students don't practice: 1. Hard to find an area to practice in. 2. Hard to find the time. 3. Huge variation in bunker conditions. (meaning what you learn won't be useful on the actual playing course). 4. I get worse with practice.
I'm good if the bunker has sufficient sand, but many courses have VERY LITTLE SAND in their bunkers it's hard pan with 1/8" of sand so I really struggled to get the ball up & out 😩 need to get it up 3' but I'll hit it up 1' so stays in the green side bunker😡 please could you do a video on those conditions
Greetings! Any hints on really short bunker shots out of deep bunkers (deep, high edge, short distance to flag)? Thanks! BTW, you kind of remind me of the actor playing "Andrew" in "Love, Victor" 🙂
Ok first time viewing this video. I like the idea of saying your name s ball contact. Can I or should I try this name calling with iron and metal wood shots?
How do you quiet your roll with your left hand but still manage to avoid slicing? I just had three lessons at a PGA store in Dallas where they worked on my slice by telling me about a stronger grip combined with a left wrist or left knuckle roll. I’ve been hooking it to break my slice habit, and now I’m starting to adjust some things to straighten it out. But when you talk about reducing that wrist role how do you avoid bad aim?
When we open the club, the club then facing more to the right. Is it normal? Or we have to adjust the address little bit to the left of the pin? Thanks Matt
In one of your sand shot videos you say don't open the club face hardly at all and in a second one you say to really open it up a lot. I have tried both your suggestions and found the really open club face works the best. Why is their conflicting advice Matt?
Still, as a beginner, it gets confusing. If you watch Paul Wilson's Bunker Shots video, he does everything opposite of Mr. Short Game. Both are great teachers/golfers. I guess I will have to try both methods out and see what works for me.
I like the simplicity of what you teach here but am confused about one thing. In your May 15 2019 bunker video you tell us to open the face a great deal "really open the door" and here 4 months later you say "open it just a notch". What is best???
I don’t know if you are doing this or not but when you are hitting in the bunker you never actually want to hit the ball. You actually want to hit under the ball and use the sand to pop it up
Not that I'm a pro, ...but what I do is Make Sure your shoulders match the tilt of the hill. Match the angle of the hill with your shoulders and then swing normally.
Yeah on the “#1 Problem with Sand Shots” vid it’s the main problem he cites. Clubface not open enough. On this one it’s to only open it a touch. Personally, I find opening it more works a lot better. Just curious why Matt had differing opinions between these two videos.
Best teacher on TH-cam that I’ve actually gotten improvement from
Thanks for the “ love you guys” at the end of each video…makes it more “personal!”
Tremendous tip for free! I go to the range and hear/see these golf instructors blah blah blah, you are gifted brother!
Thank you Matt. I'm going to the course now to practice this tip for the bunkers.
Great lesson. I will focus on the hands more now than before I saw this video.

Going to be trying this in the morning thanks
Great and entertaining video. Your energy level and excitement are infectious! Nice!
You have helped my golf game a ton !
Matt, you make so much sense and connect with the average bloke. A great teacher.
Thanks for all the good advice you’ve really helped me with my game and you are a very likable character keep it up buddy

i watched this months prior and this has saved many so many strokes....THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for the wider stance tip, really works. Using my name hitting the sand is great for practice.
I just started watching your videos and can’t wait to get these tips on the course
Great stuff. Really like your tips. The name at impact drill is very clever. Thanks.
Matt,
Thanks for the great video bro!

yes, this is what i would like to see
Another vote for nothern, hard packed bunker differences

Very good ...thanks
Great video I have used all of your videos to help my game went out and dropped 10 strokes off my game. Your the man
Good video as usual. Thanks Matt. 👏👏👏👏
You have made a huge difference in my game
Saying your name at the bottom of your swing is a good tip. 2 for 2 on sand saves last round.
Thank you so much!
Thx Matt went out today and all I can say is that your tips for bunkers WORK!
I always struggled with bunkers, but not anymore!😁
I like these tips. Wide stance because you don't want to rotate hips. You want only vertical wrist hinge, and you want to deliberately swing over the top. Saying your name is something new. I will try it.
Thanks Matt. Great video!
grazie sei molto chiaro e divertente nei tuoi commenti davvero molto utili. sei una bella scoperta per me
Fantastic love your instruction, best on youtube
I pretty much blade every bunker shot, so this will be useful. Thanks.
Love your tips, best I’ve seen

Amazing video !!! Thanks for the tips
widening my stance has really helped me improve bunker shots so thankyou Mr Shortgame
Great content brother!
Mr. Shortgame, your videos are superb! This one really helped as I have been struggling lately in the bunker. All your videos are excellent!
Great stuff!!!!!!!!
One of the best ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so good these tips
Best entertaining instructor for golf. Just listening to his tips has taken 10 STROKES off my golf game. I feel like i owe him some ca$h but I will probably purchase some of his gear. Love that hat too.
Nice video, I think this will really help me with my bunker shots.
Concised life saver drill! I can use it to alleviate my pains in the sand! Thanks.
HERO!
Good video for fluffy sand. What do you do if the sand is rock hard.
Always good. Just want you to address how to control flight distance in the bunker. Thanks.
so good man !!
great info, thanks
As always I enjoy your tips practicle and easy to follow I have learnt a great deal in a short time since taking up the game again
Great video Matt. I was hinging a lot, so I'll try calming that down. My real problem is bunker shots from maybe 30-40 yards to the pin. Maybe someday you could give us a video about that. Thanks for your videos. Very easy to learn from!

Great video, the forearm rotation, are we to avoid that on most shots for consistency?
Thanks Matt for the video and all the time u put into making them. Query.....how is the bunker shot finish in relations to the hands and wrist. I was always told it was like flipping the club. Is this correct?
Does the name thing work for all shots? Thanks for the videos
Great tip Matt and it sounds so simple, just loving your tips they are very well explained, you're a excellent player, very consistent and the bad shots are still pretty good, I'm a low low marker and watching your tips make more sense than some of the coaches I've seen, cheers Aussie Mark
Will try. What is the most effective way to remove the chance of skulling it? Always has been my problem.
I was thinking about why students don't like to practice bunker shots. I did an informal survey. These are the reasons students don't practice:

great vids thanks
Love the video's man. so entertaining and tons to learn, you make the lesson so easy to understand. brill
Ok first time viewing this video. I like the idea of saying your name s ball contact. Can I or should I try this name calling with iron and metal wood shots?
Could have used this earlier today! 4 shots to get out....yeeeesh!
So I should use my pitching swing and hinge my wrist only to keep my arms from moving around? then come back more aggressive on the down swing?
First shot demonstration of a bad shot is better than any bunker shot I've ever hit...
How do you quiet your roll with your left hand but still manage to avoid slicing? I just had three lessons at a PGA store in Dallas where they worked on my slice by telling me about a stronger grip combined with a left wrist or left knuckle roll.

Another great video 👍🏻✌🏻
Love your videos and your personality. Love to play eighteen with you.
Say my name, good. Thanks Matt
Top tip
Great video. I’ve been struggling in the bunkers with my new wedges so this is right on time.
Same technique for mid-fairway bunkers? Say 200+ yards out?
Course not
in a previous video you say to open the face in a more extreme way. why did your opinion change? was it because of a change in equipment?
How bout wet sand? Great vid
Matt are you turning your shoulders rather than swinging your arms on the down swing
In one of your sand shot videos you say don't open the club face hardly at all and in a second one you say to really open it up a lot. I have tried both your suggestions and found the really open club face works the best. Why is their conflicting advice Matt?

What’s about hard packed sand, more like dirt bunkers?
I like the simplicity of what you teach here but am confused about one thing. In your May 15 2019 bunker video you tell us to open the face a great deal "really open the door" and here 4 months later you say "open it just a notch". What is best???
Wide stance can on sand trap cause my back pulled my muscle . Am i doind something. Wrong
Sand & down slope lyes?
Great video Matt,W I’ll go and try this out once the Ganges are open - or even in a round.
👍👍
My problem no matter what I do is hit the ball thin, and sending it over the green. Any ideas?
I don’t know if you are doing this or not but when you are hitting in the bunker you never actually want to hit the ball. You actually want to hit under the ball and use the sand to pop it up
Why is the stance so wide for this shot?
Biggest tip someone told me, after the fact, when hitting out of a bunker is to make sure your mouth stays closed. 🤦🏻♂️
👍💪
It’s tough when your name is Rumplestilskin.
Me, sand... there’s issues, I have issues, yes.
So it's almost like a flop shot?
Matt thank you - you make it look easy. When you have time, please do a video on the downhill bunker shot which sadly is blade city for me
Not that I'm a pro, ...but what I do is Make Sure your shoulders match the tilt of the hill. Match the angle of the hill with your shoulders and then swing normally.
On this video you contradict yourself on a previous bunker video when it comes to opening your club face
Yeah on the “#1 Problem with Sand Shots” vid it’s the main problem he cites. Clubface not open enough. On this one it’s to only open it a touch. Personally, I find opening it more works a lot better. Just curious why Matt had differing opinions between these two videos.
@andreww8678 I can't get out of bunkers even when I just pick it up and throw it, it still comes back lol
