"Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score? Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Or would you rather be the architect of what we might create?' The entire song has some amazingly quotable lines, but the chorus is my absolute favorite. Basically it's saying "are you going to watch your life pass you by or actually take hold of your future?" I. LOVE.THIS. SONG, in other words.
for those who don't know, this isn't rise against stealing from against me!, it's rise against making a response against 'teenage anarchist' by against me! by referencing the lyrics. (too many 'against's in that sentence)
The older I get, the more this song means to me. So many people are conditioned to believe what their parents and grandparents grew up with. One day when you realize how bad a lot of old ways were, you just snap and realize it's up to you to help make change. It's just a shame more and more people are too afraid to change.
The most influential band in my life that has always said to me lyrics in a song mean everything. Rise against; You're my hero in the war of music today... Keep fighting.
Zack K this was actually the first of their songs i listened to back in the day. I myself first discovered them cuz i found their band shirt from the flea market and thought it was cool. lived in finland so i had never heard of this before. Now it’s my favourite band, largery thanks to this song.
does anyone else think that this song is kind of a respond to 'I was a teenage anarchist' because of the same line at 2:05? Cause I think that the speaker in teenage anarchist has grown up and lost his beliefs and wishes he had (idk why) and in architects, tim is asking this person why he gave up and that you should stick to your beliefs or something.
But against me explained the song, it's not the singer talking about herself but asking the listeners.Teenage anarchist is about people who were punks just because it was cool and rebellious but didn't actually believe in the ideology.
This song reminds me of my Dad. He used to be a punk, full of energi and life. Now he is following the lead of the people he once stood so proudly against. I don't want to be the same as him. I will stand up for all my life and be proud of who I am. Thanks Rise Against.
@Nickkyyy17 This song is a shot at the lead singer of Against Me! from what I understand. That's why the line that follows "Because I still am, and I still do." It is a shot at him not still standing up for what he believes in. I could be wrong, since I don't know if the lead singer of Against Me! is actively involved in any causes like Rise Against is.
I ripped my CSGO folder apart to find this song. A community server i played on used this as a custom song every time a round ended. After searching through countless sound files, I finally found it! Definitely worth it. :-)
Anyone agree with me that Madden 12 was the LAST good madden game? Always my favorite feature of the Madden series was create a team, I called them The Las Vegas Vipers. Now that's its gone, Madden to me, is going down hill...
I first learned of Rise Against by Playing Prayer of the Refugee on Guitar Hero 3, I then looked them up on youtube, and I now own all off there album. They are now my favorite band of all time, I've listened to them nearly every day for years, and I own all of there albums.
"Yeah will it be the cynic, the critics galore, clice apathetic, face down on the floor, or the trustee complicit we'll collectively ignore?" Definitely shows that they know how to use words.....It's quite a mouthful when you're singing it.....
idc wat game u herd dis song from, this is a great song and a great band theyre trying to make a difference in this world and theyre insperational so i give it two thumbs up
This song is a calling. That our generation has to realize the world is changing quickly and the people running the world now aren't progressing in the way we'd like. That we must step up and change things ourselves if our nation and this world is going to be a better place.
Lol awesome, that starting pic is my phone wall paper, anyone who uses android phones just search rise against in google play and you'll soon find the app, there's also a really great app that brings all of rise againsts online media straight to your phone.
I'm here for rise against, guess what ass hole If it wasn't for WWE 2007 I would have never found this incredible band, My first song i heard by them was Survive, i loved it the first time I heard it, its my favorite song, since 2007!
All those that vote thumbs down, are probably just people that can't achieve the succes of this great band. They are nothing more than poor souls that didn't achieve succes when they were 12 years old and started their own small street band.
I am afraid that one day someone will hold Rise Against at gun point and tell them to make a bad song. It will result in their demise because it is impossible for them to not make a great song.
I know what the song is about -.-.... The lyrics are incorrect... Jesus, the people on TH-cam who want to show everybody they know everything there is to know about everything...
i was a huge Rise Against fan, back when the Sufferer and the Witness came out. Thats still my favorite Rise Against album. But, since then, my music taste has changed a little bit. I have gotten into much heavier stuff. i heard a few of the songs from Endgame when it came out, and I thought they sucked. But, when I heard this song on Madden 12, I realized that this song isnt so bad. Now, I find myself listening to more Rise Against.
Listened to the lyrics like 10 times. Actually a rapper Canibus use to have my fav lyrics, but after this, survive, re-education, drones, ready to fall, give it all...RA takes the cake because they are way more postive and empowering, not just interesting!
I love this band so much. But god they have a childish fan base. Over half of them are "edgy teens" who don't even realize that they are a political band....
+ryanfronheiser I saw them live a few month ago and....I agree. MOST of the audience were below 18. I was with my boyfriend there and we felt a little bit awkward (especially when support played but that's other story).
@sebbster2000 I don't think they're try to make a response AGAINST that song. Tom Gabel said that song was about him wanting to make a difference in a world he saw as unfair, something many of those icons that mellow with age were once trying to do. If anything, Rise Against is using Against Me!'s lyrics to try and stir up the revolutionary in those people.
"Don't you remember when you were young and you wanted to set the world on fire." That's most likely a nod to Teenage Anarchist.
They've confirmed that it is, and I love it.
That whole second part I thought was another song
Against me is Rise Againsts biggest influence....
That goosebumps section, I know we feel it
@@toryswanson8229 lol no they're not, not even close. This song was actually anti-against me!'s message

Before MXvATV:Alive
The drums are so original and FIRE!
After MXvATV:Alive
OH MY GOD THE BIKERS ARE FIGHTING
we've been living a time of revolution in Brazil and this song fits perfectly! I just recorded a cover of it :)
@aryy estamos na desgraça hahaha. Letras do Rise Against nunca foram tão necessárias ❤️

This almost made me cry, such a beautiful and inspiring song. I want to be the architect that seals my fate and take back the world I know and love.
very very deep Rise Against fan, and i would've never known about them if it weren't for this song. Thanks Madden!

This sounds just like Rise Against to me, the guitar the drumming, the heart, the lyrics. THIS IS 100% Rise Against. Kick ass, and pure rebellion.

12 years later, do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before?
Lyrics are wrong on the chorus. I've got the album & in the cd booklet it says "Are you out there on the frontlines or at home keeping score!"

I just wanted to point out the reference Rise Against made to Against Me! on this song c': bloody beautiful c:
No words can be used to describe the perfection this song has achieved!
Here's to those who never lost their ideals, who fought against hierarchy till the day they died.
Amen brother, very well said!
one of their most underrated songs

I actually think this is the best Madden song ever
this song and satellite are my two favorites off this album because help is on the way and make it stop were worn out by radio stations
Ik this is 10 years late, but we sadly don't really heat Rise Against on the radio anymore...
This will be the anthem when we all wake up.

Who is 'we' you masked up clown? I am a bloody anarchist and I don't give a fuck about your in-group/ out-group rhetoric.

I dont see whats wrong with discovering a band through a game, you got to discover a band some how
Lyrical genius as always.
the lyrics actually make sense, unlike most bands these days. The Architects and deaf havana are a couple of only a few epic remaining bands.
Madden anyone?
I'm still young, and I still want to set the world on fire!
I love rise against. I heard this in madden 12 and was like OMG RISE AGAINST!
Oh Yea, this kicks ass! 🤘
