      I beg to differ. The real synth icon here on this channel is Daniel Fisher. This man is a mountain of knowledge and skill-sets that today's musician-scientists are still discovering to this today.

    I've always wanted an Arp 2600. It's been on some of my favourite records and soundtracks and it's one of the few synths that has always been relevant since it came out and continuously used. It's definitely the most versatile in the sounds it's been used to create. I actually got the new 2600 M 3 weeks ago. It was great for 2 reasons, I decided to give up smoking to help save up for it.

    That intro is incredible! This is how a synthesizer should sound.

      Absolutely one of a kind. I was sold by that intro alone. This is one of the best sounding synths, if not, the best, I've ever heard.

    Sounds really beautiful, and nice composition for the piece at 12:20, Daniel! Sadly, at $400+ above the originally announced price of $1,799, I think I'll stick with my Matriarch and Boomstar 4075, which are also beautiful sounding and feature-rich synths. It's a "golden age" of synths!

    Nice to see a Korg electribe sampler (“e2s”) in the mix 😄. I got one from SW in early 2017. Still has features and specs that I wish were available on SP404mkii or Digitakt, etc.

      What astonishes me most is that there almost is only a low pass filter.
      We have other filters : high pass, high shelf, low shelf, band pass, band reject, Formant, comb, waveshaping, resonator and possibly more.
      Please include some of them in your design :-)

    Why wouldn’t they at least sell a keyboard for it if they don’t include one? Even the full size came with a keyboard. I’ve found it’s very hard to find a board that’s the exact same length as this unit to kind of mimic the look of the original system.

    If I could manage to put the 2600M into my budget (it’s never easy when you’re strictly out of pocket), my imagination tells me that I could do what I’ve done with my other analog synthesizer modules and control it from my master keyboard (a Yamaha S90XS) that Sweetwater sold me. Instinctively, that would appear to make more sense than to use the bundled keyboard that ships with it. Thoughts?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Chandeleer Jet. I'm sending separate Pitch CV signals to each of the three Oscillators, allowing each to have their own independent pitches. But it's still considered a Monophonic synth because all three Oscillators go to the same Filter and Amp.

    How does it compare to the Behringer?
    Woah, Korg costs a lot more.
    I like the Behringer because it's pretty. Lousy excuse to buy a synth, but enh.

    • @classicarcadeamusementpark4242
      @classicarcadeamusementpark4242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Korg 2600M which costs almost 4 times as much as the Beheringer 2600, so I think a lot of us would like to know what the differences are.
      Also would like to see comparisons between these and the various VST models of the 2600 from Arturia, Cherry Audio, and WayOut software version which Alan R Pearlman himself was involved with.

    • @jimolinger3149
      @jimolinger3149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Behringer has more waveforms and pulse width modulation on VCO 3. It also has sync on VCO 2 and VCO 3. It also has the LFO and other goodies from the original 2600 keyboard. It doesn't have speakers. The layout is somewhat different from the Korg. And it costs WAY less than the Korg.
      That wouldn't mean anything if the Behringer didn't sound great, but it DOES sound great.

    • @jimolinger3149
      @jimolinger3149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@classicarcadeamusementpark4242 I have the Behringer and the Arturia VST. The Arturia sounds good and includes an ARP sequencer, but you can't TOUCH it like you can a physical instrument. Mapping a MIDI controller to it helps, but it's still not the same.

    • @classicarcadeamusementpark4242
      @classicarcadeamusementpark4242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jimolinger3149 Does the Behringer sound less authentic to the original sound than the Korg? I'd imagine there has to be some reason for the huge price difference. Or is the build quality worse maybe?

    • @classicarcadeamusementpark4242
      @classicarcadeamusementpark4242 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimolinger3149 I have the Arturia and I like it. I agree having that layout would be nice. However, I do love presets and not having to take extra stuff to gigs. I have plenty of controls I can map. Still, I'd love play a 2600 in that form factor. Just looks like more fun than a lot of other hardware instruments vs the software counterparts. Seems like the 2600 would be a good one to have in hardware.

    Like movie making, synth manufacturers recycle the original designs and release the sequel. All of the old famous synths remade and reissued, Arp, Moog, Sequential, Oberheim, hey and now throw in a $15,000 special order and decked out hand made Rhodes, if you can get one! It would be possible to build a modern studio that looked 100% vintage with all of the classics remade.
