What better way to get to you a new synth than to make some music!
I'm using the new Korg 2600 M going thru the Roland SBF-Stereo Flanger and some Strymon FX, in combination with the classic TR-909 and Moog Mother 32 for bass.

Electronic music is incredibly special because it adds another dimension of progression that traditional music doesn't really have -- even using a repeated melodic phrase, a story can be told just through the evolution of timbres.
Exactly but people mostly do not get it somehow ... you probably need to have gens for it I guess ...
And the percussion is different every time. For example they never repeat a 909 kick doing 4-on-the-floor. Oh wait...nvmnd.
@@dmallegro613 this is exactly what has been happening since Satie, Debussy, Shönberg, etc. electronic music isn't the way it is just because of the technology... in fact, it owes much more to the ideas laid down by composers and academians of 100 years ago, in response to the question that every composer from Bach to Brahms was trying to answer: instead of asking "where can this note go from here", the composers of the late 19th/early 20th centuries countered with the question "what can be done with this note?"
@Gregory Santone composition techniques based on timbre (tone poem, Klangfarbenmelodie) can be traced as far back as Liszt and Beethoven. expressions of those same ideas can be found in diverse examples by Cage and Reich as much as they can in Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Aphex Twin, and J Dilla.

@@horseplanetpolicedepartmen4333 well, good techno stands up but I would say an overwhelming majority of it does not. For some reason EDM has a very short lifespan and actually sounds dated quicker than other genres of music. And I'm a synthesizer nerd. But I can listen to Bach well tempered Clavier until the day I die and never get bored. Same with Aphex twin. But most EDM sounds dated when it's five years old. Take Dub Step for example. Almost unlistenable today if it was composed five years ago.
This is why I love Synthesizers… the beautiful possibilities coming out of them and the pleasure of the possibilities when playing them.
Music is the partner for life… even if it only lives inside our minds… music stays alive and will survive everything!

I'm in my mid sixties now & I have loved electronic music since Tangerine Dream & it's still to this day my favourite music

@@buggyispretty there's no such thing as "melodic techno". "Melodic techno" is what they use to avoid calling it trance - because that genre title is long associated with some disposable EDM junk-food.

I am listening to this at 07.30 in the morning at start of work. Early morning heaven! Sensitive track all the way.
I just can't take this song out of my head. Since I know about it, I just think about it like hundreds of times everyday (not joking). I'm walking trough the woods with the dogs and when I realize I'm whistling the lead all the time, even some people already asked me what's that I'm always whistling about haha.
Seriously tho, amazing jam, I just can't stop thinking how did you do that lead sequence wise.

Joris, can you please make some more of these. I find it almost impossibly to find examples of the ARP 2600 being played so expertly!
