    I am Japanese. His choice makes sense. If you live in a prefecture near Tokyo (Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama), you can live in a quality apartment for about half the price of Tokyo. The suburban prefectures are, dare I say it, similar to New Jersey next to New York City. It is possible for you to find a newer apartment like his for 500-800$ for a 1ldk for one person. However, landlords often have some concerns when renting an apartment to someone from abroad. You will need to show that you have the ability to pay properly. Providing proof of income, account balance, and place of employment (school) is a major plus point. Also, if you are a problem person (e.g. a drug addict), the landlord will refuse to move in with you. Show that you are a person of integrity. If you take care of these points, you can live a comfortable life in Tokyo for about 1/3 the cost of living in a large American city. I have also been stationed in major cities overseas, but none of them were as comfortable to live in as Tokyo.

      I’m asking because I really want to consider moving to Japan, are there conventional ways to buy THC or Delta 8 THC marijuana carts legally? How does Japan stand on that?

    • @tmyuitan
      @tmyuitan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@itshollywood0726 I don't think there is any way to legally buy THC in Japan, and CBD is only available in some government approved products. If you want to smoke marijuana, go downtown and You can easily find a pusher. But let's be prepared to get arrested. Japan is very tolerant of cigarettes but very strict about marijuana and drugs. Buying these illegal in Japan can lead to social elimination, so if you really want to live in Japan, you should stop.

      @@mahmodmahmad8565 if you mean to buy all the furniture, I already had a few of the items like the TV and some desks/shelves. The most expensive items were the sofa and the dining table set. Also bought a new bed. In total all the furniture was probably around 200-300k JPY. There was also move in costs which is common in Japan, that wasn’t cheap either I think the move in fees (including 2 months rent) totalled around 400k yen

    Amazing apt for the price! Just a note, it's not a 2LDK, it's a 1LDK.
    1LDK = 1 bedroom + living room + dining/kitchen space
    The number in the front only refers to bedrooms....

    • @Retro-Japan
      @Retro-Japan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for watching! I’ll have to take it out with the housing company then as it’s listed as 2LDK. This kind of design is pretty common though with a separate room behind sliding doors. I used to think it was basically a scam to have 1 big room with sliding doors in the middle but I get the appeal now after living here

    Chiba was the one area (That I went to) that I really felt like I was unwanted as a foreigner. Got a few death stares in Chiba park and a lot more confused "what the hell are you doing here?" type stares when walking around...
    Hope the situation for you isn't like that but just be fair warned that Chiba seemed to be not a foreigner friendly area.
    For reference, wasn't allowed in 2 bars in Sumida aka "No Gaijin" and shooed away so just be warry of where you're at!

Chiba city is pretty bad tbh I never go there, there’s just nothing to do there. There’s almost no foreigners in Chiba either. I think it just depends on the people you come across but I’ve had more death stares back in my own hometown in England haha

    Honestly, I feel like even if people will always see you as a foreigner, if you know the language well and know or can adapt to the culture fast, living there is probably ideal if you're in a western nation. If I rented an apartment that size just outside a city - but with easy access to transit (train or bus) that is right next to a supermarket - I'm looking at a minimum of $1200US a month. And you'd have to be lucky to have a job that covers that. Of course, in Japan, you'd definitely need to find an accommodating job, too.
    Hopefully your rent situation stays ideal, especially after the recent market crashes that hit Japan.

    I'm moving back to my hometown soon from australia back to german and i'm looking at rooms in a flatshare and they are like 500eur for 16 square meter, so your apartment is really affordable!
    are most appartments in japan around that price if they aren't in central tokyo or other major cities?
    I've been to japan before this year for 5 weeks and i always wondered how much people have to pay for rent there

      I would say most apartments outside of Tokyo are this price or less. Super affordable. Even houses are fairly cheap to buy too

    How do you spell the area? I'm hoping to move to japan but obviously rent is a worrying factor, as I'll need somewhere affordable until im finacially on my feet. Any tips would be excellent ❤

    I like apartment tours, but I'm struggling to get into this one because having two cameras filming you, with one basically filming the other, is just jarring. They're both also waving around, while quick cuts take place to remove every slight pause. It's not natural. One camera, film, let it happen as natural, so much better.
    Kudos on the bed toy, though, not that I do that myself.... (ahem) 😁

      Depends where you are coming from. All trains across Japan usually run until around 12:30. If I was coming from somewhere like Shibuya I could get a last train around 11:30 or so. If I was somewhere like Asakusa it might be a bit later. If I’m more local in Chiba my last train would like be around 12:15

    this is soooooooo cheap comparing to London and surrounding areas, I live in Zone 6 East London/Essex border, in a fairly modern apartment block some 30 min to central London on Elizabeth Line, very similar flat to this one, and pay £1350 p/m plus bills, and its very cheap for here as same flats as mine go usually for £1400-£1500 or more. I used to pay £1000 p/m for a room in a shared flat a few years back in Zone 2
