For people like me who only discovered this video in 2022, just so you know, if when you are trying to format the SD card you do not see a FAT32 option but instead exFAT, it is safe to choose exFAT - I formatted my SD card using exFAT and the camera came back to life. Thank you so much for this video.

With this Nextbase as the FIRST troubleshooting step - just press and hold briefly the reset button on bottom of this camera. You will need something small like the tip of a pen to do this. If you wipe/format the card as your first troubleshooting step, you will lose all existing footage on the card. Also you don’t have to go to the hassle of involving a computer as a first step. I also recommend the Sandisk ‘max endurance’ card. I have this camera. Resetting it by pressing the button as explained above should be enough in most cases.

If one has a proper card, then it’s probably best to try reset button first, as this is the fastest solution and it’s likely a software issue requiring a re-boot. Many thanks.
My Nextbase GW522 started freezing from the start of every journey. Tried everything to resolve without success. Went out and bought a replacement (same model) Same thing happened. Started to wonder if it was a faulty rear camera as both worked fine until I connected the rear camera. Fault turned out to be a loose rear camera lead connection! Pushed it home and now no problems. Worth checking rear camera cable connection for anyone with a freezing camera problem!
Hey our 522 didn’t have a rear camera connected. Sd card is fixing most people’s issue after a full format however software does play a part in this issue.
These fixes don't work for me unfortunately with a nextbase 422GW. I have tried formatting on windows and the same issue reoccurs. My dashcam will record 2-3 3 minute segments of footage then it stops recording. I click record on the camera and it does 1 second then stops this keeps happening until i turn it off then the same process of 2-3 3 min recordings then it stops. It is so frustrating as it used to be fine. I have tried multiple u3 high endurance sd cards to no avail there is clearly a problem with nextbase cameras
1. The User Guide specifically says "Format SD card in camera only..." - not on an external laptop etc - are you saying disregard this instruction? I just had this camera (including matching rear camera) installed in a brand new car by the supplying dealer... it doesn't work! 9 times out of 10 when camera boots up it is frozen (no access to Settings 'cog' on screen) and if I do manage to get into Settings it says 'No rear camera connected'... I have reformatted the supplied SD card and replaced it, as well as hard Reset the camera numerous times - nothing has worked. Every time it powers up the touchscreen is frozen!
Formatting memory card on PC/Laptop has been shown to be more effective for a fix than formatting on a dash cam itself. Please note formating in any way doesn't solve all issues as there may be hardware or software issues at play.
My one is hardwired into the fuse box so haven’t experienced bad battery. Most of these cams have poor internal battery unless you buy external power supply
Hi there, Thanks for the video. I will try your fixes. Currently I have upgraded my firmware after getting White screens and a purple/pink pixelated screen. The firmware update has got rid of the white screen, but this morning i got the pixalated purple screen. Then all ok, through the day. Will let you know once ive formated and or upgraded my Micro SD

looks like you've got the same as me 522GW with rear camera attached. I've extensively tested this over the past 6 months trying to figure out why it freezes every week or two. Loads of forum discussions, I'm using a nextbase 64gb card. Camera works 100% fine no freezing on it's own, it's when the rear is in use that it seems the camera cannot handle the processes. Latest test I have is everything switched off, dual format recording off, parking mode off, all assistants off, just purely getting it to record a front and rear video file. Hardwired, cigarette lighter both tested. I'll give this a go formatting on my pc, if after all these tests it doesn't work then I'll just get another camera such as a Vantrue E2. Can't keep having to check this 522GW if it's working, and the day I may need it it's not working isn't a great thought.
How did you get on? Just bought mine and first day of using it it froze mid recording while driving to work.. can see it becoming more of a hazard constantly looking over to check if it's working!
@@SuperMads123 so far so good after 8 days of running front and rear recording. Dual file turned off, no Alexa or any app stuff. But I also formatted the nextbase card on my desktop PC, doing a full slow format that took about 45mins. So far so good, I'm keeping an eye on the recording light aswell as you are which is annoying. To be honest fi you're able to return it, I would, my other choice would be a brand named Vantrue (on amazon)
Unfortunately we don’t have a rear so don’t think there’s a correlation between the front and rear. A high quality memory card after full format should sort the issue.
I'm experiencing the same as you, my rear camera suddenly stopped working after 6 months or so. I'm using a Nextbase 64gb card (after the 32gb card pinged out with such force and got lost somewhere in my car!), and since then the rear camera hasn't worked and after formatting and resetting it freezes as soon as everything is connected. Occasionally, the rear camera pops up, flickers for a few secs and then the screen freezes. I should have stuck with my trusted old DrivePro. I'll brace myself and go back to basics with the 522GW, as you have done and will see if I can get the rear camera to work again. Thank you for your post, and thank you @cardcoresecure for the video.
hi great video but you didn't add the link to the micro sd card that you recommend. I have a nextbase 622gw. Do you recommend sticking with a nextbase card or is there a better option? Also I see a lot of people complaining about this unit on your video, should I return this unit for a different brand
My wife slammed my trunk that has a rear camera mounted in it. The dash cam froze. I've tried everything. Formatting which worked after doing it a few times for one drive then stopped working, resetting the camera didn't work, nothing was a permanent fix. Please help. Cobra sc200d
You are absolutely correct. 256gb will work fine. Next base recommendation is a 128gb limit. I have tried and tested 256 myself. However, I have updated the link to a 128gb for anyone else concerned. Thanks for looking out.

is there any way to fix delayed audio with these cameras? I'm now on my 4th replacement for it (with other issues mainly) and this is brand new from yesterday and it STILL has a microphone delay that changes all the time, sometimes it can lead into 2-3 clips behind with the audio, is there any way to fix it ?
I have the rear view dash cam and I purchased the pro sd card of 250 gb I haven’t seen any freezing until now I noticed evey once in a while I see the dash cam freezing for couple seconds then back to normal. Do you think it’s because that card is full and it does that or something else? Please help
my 422 dash cam has stoped working on the screen you can see red record puttom above settings button and beside it the arrow they are all frozen how con i get them to reset

Didn't work for me But it's my fault I opened it up to solder a new battery in I should have left the old battery in until the new battery arrived but i cut the old battery out and had it out for a few days whilst the new battery arrived. Ive soldered in the new battery but it's now stuck on the logo screen.
I'm just using 256GB from scandisk for 4K professional camera which is rated U3 V90 speeds, I don't have this issue at all, just wish my 622GW did 4K 60fps or 120fps though.
Yeah it’s hard to find a high resolution camera with good fps. Our top seller is the Thinkware U1000 4k camera it’s only in 30fps but you can record 2k at 60fps.
I followed the Guide that u said on your video however my camera records for about 7 seconds and then stops recording and it keeps on freezing at times.
best option to send it into warranty exchange. i have 422gw plus rear view camera and samsung 512gb evo select U3 A2 V30 class. first one didn't recorded deer incident because frozen like into the video in that moment, it's hidden away from my view behind rear mirror so I didn't noticed. a week or 2 later it started freezing during the ding dong with the nextbase logo and had to ship it for warranty and wait 2 months. the exchanged one started 2 days ago to look like working except it wasn't recording or responding to comands, only real time image on screen. missed 2 idiots that almost send me out of the road plus an unindefied object into the middle of the highway. so for me rule number 1 after starting the engine is check whether is working as something will haappen, murphy law, then either send it back or best option buy something else but not nextbase brand. first and last time.

The reset button doesn't resolve the issue unfortunately. But yes it is good to try.

Hi, the issue usually happens because of a memory card which hasn't been formatted correctly. If issue happens again then indeed it's the hardware.

got a blank screen problem with Pruveeo d90 4CH. Did everthing but still turns on blank screen.
Seems like issue with hardware. Contact manufacturer or supplier.

Reset entire system with a formatted memory card. Sometimes the unit itself can be faulty.

Hey unfortunately I don’t know exact setting. Try and change the quality of video and see if delay stays.

The dash cam has a format setting that doses that
The dash cam format setting unfortunately does not format the same way.
My Power button on the camera is stuck or just doing nothing. Annoying.

Alot of people forget to clear the memory card, i usually clear it every month or two
Yes that’s also a good way to keep things running smooth!
My camera automatically keeps recording unless you press the button to lock the particular picture/ video..
