It took me a little while to get “in the groove” on this one, as you’ll notice my initial strokes still leave kinda fat blobs instead of thin lines. But then I got the hang of it. I also realized after editing and uploading this video that for popping bubbles, I could have used a long-neck lighter, which wouldn’t have added much heat so might have avoided any swirling. I’ll keep trying!
Having a definite allergy to mixed epoxy fumes, I also wouldn't do the "breathe on the bubbles" technique either. I tend to wait about 30 minutes for the epoxy to get good and sticky, then come back with a flame and pop bubbles. That said, I'm also pretty much okay with not getting ALL of the bubbles. The micas are shimmery enough, they tend to mask the micro bubbles that are left behind. **shrug** Thanks so much for you video!!!
Heyyy this turned out pretty great! I put my color(s) in tall little cups (dollar tree shot glasses) so I can load my paddle pick up higher onto the stick and then it falls off into a thin longer line . bc there’s more up on the stick and gravity slowly pulls it down & off. I gotta give you full credit for your immensely great ability to keep trying on this. If something doesn’t work out for me I usually quit after twice and move to something else 😂. And you’re so right- the long lighter was the thing. The end result is really beautiful 😻 Bravo for staying with it lady!!! 👌💯👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for all your help!!! I’m not usually known for my stick-to-it-tiveness, but there’s something about this method specifically that makes me want to keep trying. So next time: less resin on the base, load the skewers higher, use the long-neck lighter. And 🤞🤞🤞🤞🙄🤣 Thanks again!
Random question! I’m kind of new to this, and I have decorated my cup using mica powders, it’s set. I have my decals on, but something is missing. It needs more black.. can I add a few stripes away from the decals without doing a thin layer of epoxy over the whole cup first? I’m so scared if I do a thin layer first then added the black it will swirl on to my decals. Tia!
Good question! I have added extra color by putting on a full layer of resin and being extremely careful where I put just a few extra drops of alcohol ink. But I was worried about the same thing you are. Another possibility is to paint some black on the dry cup as it is now, with alcohol ink or acrylic paint or even using a paint pen or marker. Then when the black dries, seal it with clear spray, then put a layer of resin over the whole thing.
Great question! Actually, chameleons are a specific type of mica powder, as are chromes, auroras, holographics, and some even newer types. They’re all mica powders, but with more specific properties - chromes are super shiny, chameleons change color, etc. And there’s still plain ol’ mica powder, which is a shimmery ground up stone mineral.

A sheer curtain over your window would make it like a softbox. Even sheer fabric from JoAnn would do it. Much softer light, but still bright.
I love how it turned out
Thank you!!

Gorgeous!! I can't wait to try it...thank you for showing how to do it
Thank you! Have fun with it! 😁
Try spritzing the cup at the end with a mist of Alcohol , it will get rid of all bubbles.
Thanks! That’s what I do now, but back when I made this video, I hadn’t learned that trick yet😊
The colors are great - I liked the last cup also lol - this is very pretty
Thank you!!

@@Luxinda ok perfect! I wasn’t sure about those ideas either! Thank you! I will that!
Whats the different between chameleons and mica.powder
