    I know that Stephanie's work is directed to Black women but this old white woman has been following Stephanie's words for years! That is how I ended up moving to Mexico!!!

      Your color means nothing to us. My grandfather was from Scotland, grandmother looked like driving with daisy, and she did not like dark skin people, and hated her mulatto son marrying my beautiful birth MOM.

    My mother taught for 35 years, turned 62 in December, died in April of the new year. Only got 3 ss checks. She taught me a lesson she doesn't even know she taught me. I quit my oppressive job 3 years ago and never looked back.

    ❤ I’m currently in Iraq, I’m a Federal Government Employee for over 35 years (to include 4 years of Army Service). Now, I’m on a 10 month deployment, over 5 months into it) I’ve been in the war zones 14 times.
    As of yesterday, I have started what I call “Operation Time to Return HOME”. My health, mental and spirit is breaking day to day. God has shown me that it’s time to leave this toxic job and environment. I can’t see myself completing the 10 months, I am ready to go home to begin LIFE again with family, friends, travel, rest, exercise, fast, all that I dream of when feeling like I’m imprisoned in the deployment position.
    I’m 55.5 years old and have 60 years in my current position plan to retire. But, I may do it at 58…. We shall see 🙌🏽🙏🏽
    Thank you beautiful ladies for your inspiration ❤❤❤

    TH-cam suggested this video to me, and it was a good choice because I'm also a Black woman from Brooklyn (originally), I love to travel, and I'm an independent thinker. I help seniors navigate the health insurance maze (for a living), so I know all about the high cost of healthcare in this country.
    I loved every minute of this interview!
    And when you mentioned Dr. Uche Blackstock, I told my husband, "Oh my gosh! I used to babysit Uche and her sister Oni when they were 6 years old! :D. What a small world.

    Stephanie gives you truth reality up to you if you want to do a sabbatical or leave work forever and travel home sitting aboard or in USA. I'm 61 retired in December 2023 from job of 23 years CALL CENTER working from home since the pandemic. It became so exhausting there was nothing i needed wanted from them tired of the calls ears started ringing arms hands swelling stomach ache to wake up to alarm clock to login and work was stressful. The culture changed. Not friendly fun. I don't have to worry about PTO. Now, I don't have to worry if I can travel or be off. Freedom

    Rashida was featured on CNBC and retired with close to $1M dollars. Stephanie goes back and forth to her parent’s house when she feels like it. In many ways they’re selling a dream without providing all the details. (This is an FYI for those that don’t know.) You need to plan financially first. Anything is possible with a plan. It may take a year or several to get there.

    • @blackboomerbestiesfrombrooklyn

      Good for them! Actually you (Black women) can get all the details and then some from the ExodUS Summit FB group. But the longer I've been in practice (more than 20 years) I'm learning that I need to put my oxygen mask on first. Good luck my friend

      Thank you!! Wow. I started independent practice 2004 and so 20 years here as well! I’m an anesthesiologist and decided to dip my foot in via locums; if I’m out for 3 months it’s difficult to obtain hospital credentialing , so I’m cautious to the point of paralysis.
      Thank you for being a guide. Out of curiosity, are there any black women who focus on physicians who are doing (coast) FIRE?

    • @blackboomerbestiesfrombrooklyn
      @blackboomerbestiesfrombrooklyn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey colleague! I'm an anesthesiologist too! Have you checked out the recent video we posted about anesthesia fears? Here is the post link- th-cam.com/video/5fblZqKIdBE/w-d-xo.html. I think locums is a great option for us as we can easily dip in and out of work between longer gigs. I wasn't aware of the 3 month restriction though- maybe it would help to be out 2.8 months at a time then (LOL). I'm not familiar with FIRE. What is that?

    • @jaxonwilson4722
      @jaxonwilson4722 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2.8mos😆. I think FIRE was started by hospitalists decades ago to obtain Financial Independence Retirement Early (F.I.R.E.), it’s now in many segments of society. The younger generations have perfected it. They will save up to 70% of their income for 10+ years as early as possible and by any means necessary. They place their savings into any vehicle that has a compounding interest component. If they start at 30 they are done by 40 etc. I have been following it for a bit (not at 70%) but the best explanation I’ve ever seen was from Our Rich Journey. That family has been insanely successful with it. Really really enjoyed this podcast:-) thank you all for doing it.
