PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL MAJOR PLOT POINTS IN YOUR COMMENTS (or at least start your comment with "spoilers" so I know to avoid it)! It takes away the point of future reactions if you just tell me everything that happens later so instead let me experience it during the process of watching Hamilton myself. If you see others leaving comments that include spoilers please reply to it indicating that it has spoilers so I know not to read it, thank you in advance.
Part 1 of Hamilton was INCREDIBLE but TH-cam was shooting me like Aaron Burr over the music AND the visuals, so I had to make a few cuts to the songs & cover it with text 😭 I posted the entire intact reaction (full songs, no text covering the visuals etc.) on my patreon here www.patreon.com/posts/hamilton-part-1-112171090 if you’re interested, but if not I’d suggest pulling up the soundtrack & playing it own your own so you can hear the INSANITY of what I’m hearing in full lol. Anyways make sure to subscribe not to miss future parts! 🦁
P.S. This was the least intrusive editing method I could find that they’d accept. I submitted 14 DIFFERENT versions of this video to TH-cam and they blocked them ALL! None of the typical methods were working; I was out here fighting for my independence against Disney for a week to get this video out to you guys 💀

Love it! You’re doing them in order too!! It might be fun to revisit the first song as a reaction after you are done with the musical. This musical has “dual casting” for four actors. They will switch to another role in act two. If you go back and watch their introductions in the first song you will discover that all four actors are talking about both characters that they play when they describe their relationship with Alexander. Yet the sentence they say means something completely different depending on which character they are referencing. The opening number feels completely different after you go through the events of the show.

His mother wasn’t a sex worker, but she ran away from an unhappy marriage and had a long term relationship (including several children) with his father, who she was never married to.
He was born and grew up on the Caribbean island of Nevis. The island was hit by a hurricane and he wrote so eloquently about it for the news that the other residents of Nevis took up a collection to send him to New York to be educated, and we might assume that they assumed he would come back and use that education to build his home community, but he never went back

typing along to the video, so this might get very long and a bit confusing:
    1) this show prides itself in representation. They cast purely based on personality and song/rap sskills.
    2) The historical accuracy if this show as a whole is a bit iffy, but the intro song is historically as accurate as you can get. In regards to his mother; she was a whore by profession.
    3) this is a case of self-casting. The person playing Alexander Hamilton is also the person who wrote this entire play (mostly on his own)
    4) if there's anything you should know, is that the Hamilton fanbase is borderline crazy. you could make an 8 hour video analyzing 3 lines in a song and we would watch it all. So don't worry about the length of these videos
    5) the attention to detail in this musical is insane. Like you pointed out with the coat becoming a new man. Every line has meaning, every visual tells a story, every sound is relevant. It's common in musicals, but this one takes it to a new level.
    6) the rhyming schemes in this show get REALLY complex and deep at points, which is really cool. the Aaron Burr Sir scheme is only the beginning and relatively shallow compared to many upcoming parts.
    7) characters: french accent is Lafayette; he's a French soldier who went out to help America with their revolution. The dude in green is Hercules Mulligan, a tailor and arguably one of if not the most important player int the revolution, and the third character is John Laurens, big name in the anti-slavery fight. All 3 are big players in the revolution. And then we have Aaron Burr, also a big player in the revolution, but also in more things.
    8) the animosity against Burr, sir. It's noteworthy that, at this point in the story, Burr is very much still an anti-violence person, preferring to take things the more strategical and political way.
    9) transition between songs is occasionally so smooth, it's hard to tell you're already an in the next song. In this case the "who are you, who are you, who is this kid, what's he gonna do?" is the transition point between Aaron Burr, Sir and My Shot.
    10) the rhyming schemes are dope, especially the internal rhyming it has. It also plays a lot with timing.
    11) worth noting: one of my personal favourite production elements, is the rotating floor. They make some great use of it.

Appreciate the long comments so keep 'em coming!
      1. I think the representation is really cool & was quite unexpected
      2. Well luckily for me I have forgotten many of the small details of Alex's life so I likely won't notice the historical discrepancies lol (unlucky for me, this will also cause some people in the comments to act like I am unintelligent for not knowing the details of history as well as they).
      3. As he should! If you can do it yourself then might as well flex on everyone how multi-talented you are! Lol
      4. I appreciate that! And for something this good I totally feel like being crazy about it is warranted (projecting forward for what I haven't seen yet of course)
      5. Yeah I can see how detail it's going to be just off the small stuff I'm picking up on, & I'm sure there's plenty of stuff I'm missing given I'm only hearing/seeing these things for the first
      6. I am excited to hear it! Can't wait to hear something that could make the rhyme schemes here seem shallow
      7. Names I have all heard before (for example I know Lafayette also played a role in the French Revolution) but have mostly forgotten about in the years since but I am happy to learn or relearn about them as we move forward through this journey!
      8. Which is a perfectly fine strategy BUT eventually there must be action to go with that strategy
      9. Yeah I missed it at the time but wsa able to figure that out by checking out these songs on the soundtrack on spotify and was like ooooooohhhhh okay that's where lol
      10. Yeah I am seeing that! Probably my favorite bit so far
      11. I don't think I even noticed that bit, maybe I thought it was the camera rotating or was distracted by some musical element when that happened

I enjoy both. The less talkative ones are nice to see for reading the subtleties in their body language. It probably takes more effort on our, the (meta-)audience's, part. It's something. Spelling out your thoughts verbally is a great means of adding to the content to make it more than a reuploading of copyrighted material, though, and I don't have to pay too close attention to reading your eyes.
Honestly, though, I think people complain about frequent pausing because they're just looking for background noise, and the pausing keeps distracting them, stealing precious attention from the tasks they're seeking distraction from. Reactions probably aren't the thing for that job, so it's a little silly to blame the content creators. Either that, or pausing breaks up the pacing, making it an impure experience, but that can be dangerous thinking, trying to control another person's experiences. Art is created in its subjective observations, not just in its physical production.

As someone who married a Musical Theater girl (who also got me in to Stray Kids LUL), let me help out a little on this
    - Broadway has got a LOT more melanin than you might think now (and not just in the Lion King)
    - Lin-Manuel Miranda Wrote the musical and was the original star of Hamilton so you were right to think he looked familiar
    - Hamilton was Born in St.Kitts and Nevis and the intro is accurate (Note "Trading Charter" is a tricky way for them to not have to say slave shipping)
    - Lafayette (blue Suede coat) is played by Daveed Diggs who is a rapper in the group clipping, he hadn't acted much before this but has since been in the movie Blindspotting and the Snowpiercer TV Series
    - Some of the songs do flow kinda seamlessly as the musical is "sung through" so it doesn't have non-music based dialog to add to the storytelling
    - All of these dudes were obviously white but some may have had some Latin or Creole heritage - Laurens however was a noted abolitionist and one of the strongest voices for it during the revolution
I do not know how far you have got through your overall watch, so I wont spoil anything but I am looking forward to the rest of the videos!
If after this you decide to try another musical I would suggest Sweeney Todd (not the movie) but the filmed stage version from 1982 which is on Apple TV+. Stephen Sondheim is known for incredibly lyrically dense musicals which may suit you, also the Jesus Christ Superstar Movie from the 70s is an incredible Rock Opera with a diverse cast and some incredible vocal talent.

Musical theater girls are amazing! You made a great decision! 😤👏 Hope you guys have MANY more years of happy marriage & if she keeps introducing you to fire music I expect that you will! 😹
      - Broadway got some melanin on stage!? Might need to catch a play! Wait musical? IDK which word fits broadway performances better... 😅
      - My guy really said "I will wear all the hats thank you very much". As someone who wears all the hats for his own musical endeavors, I respect that majorly!
      - Yeah I figured that if he worked in "trade" in the Caribbean in the 18th century, he probably wasn't trading mangos 😭
      - I KNEW that the baguette with a bun was a rapper! I felt it in my bones! The flow was too clean!!! 🔥
      - John Laurens the GOAT!!! And because of the work of he and many others, me and many others can do things like play characters (including him) in plays even though we are bit more tanned than his portrait lol. 🐐
As far as reacting to another musical, I'd be down if people were interested in it. You know me, I watch what the people want me to.

Been a Hamilton fan for years, always great to see someone discover it for first time. There are so many entry points- musical theater buffs, history buffs, the rap/hip hop aspect. There’s something in it for almost everyone. Just fyi, while liberties are taken in some aspects of the characters’ personal lives, most of the big events (particularly historical events) are relatively accurate.

@@AmariLeone Not really. Part of the point of the musical was that Hamilton was sort of the forgotten Founding Father. They spent way more time in schools teaching about Washington, Jefferson, etc., so very few people grew up learning much about Hamilton. All most people (and even then, only people old enough to remember the "Got milk?" commercial from 1993) knew about Hamilton was that he was shot by Aaron Burr. I researched AH's story (it might surprise you, but we don't get taught American History here) and then researched LMM's work after hearing all the accolades it received. Rap is only one of many music styles used but it is essential to the story (a young country fighting for a new identity) and while I probably won't get turned onto Rap as a genre, this one gets me in the feels.

a rap musical about the founding fathers seems really bizarre conceptually but the creator, lin manuel miranda, has spoken about how hamilton's story stood out to him when he read his biography as a distinctively hip hop story. the way that he was dealt such an unfortunate hand but literally wrote himself out of his conditions rings true with so many rappers' stories, the rebellious nature of rap sits in perfect parallel to the rebellion of the american revolution, even the through line of gun violence that literally colors the show from the moment it's mentioned in the first song. lin read a book about an old white man and to him it was the story of a rapper and it's a testament to his genius that the themes remained so strongly tied to the genre.

The second song, called "Aaron Burr, Sir", was that tiny bit in which Alex was asking Burr for advice up until they then enter the bar and Alex asks Burr what will he fall for (and the other guys ask who's is this kid). That's the end of the second song. From that moment on, it's the third song. It was so seamless that it looks like a single song.
Fun fact: The third song, "My shot" took Lin Manual Miranda (the guy playing Hamilton) 2 years to write. He wanted the first time Alex actually talks to the audience to be perfect, and imho, it is.

I love rappers reactions (I’m not a rapper, I can’t even talk normally without biting my tongue sometimes😂), because rappers always pay attention to everything! And for me lyrics (here obviously, but I mean lyrics in music in general) are really important because is the message the singer want to convey so I always pay attention to it and some reactors sometimes get caught in the melody, the vibe or something else or talk without pausing the video and they miss a lot. All of this just to say I loved your reaction, already subscribed and I hope to see your next reaction soon 💜 sorry if I misspelled something, English is not my first language.

Yes! Lyrics are INCREDIBLY important to any rapper worth half a grain of salt because it is the bedrock of the art-form we do, especially if the rapper in question doesn't also sing. As for me personally I just really like to take in as much info as I can we consuming something so while I miss somethings as is human nature I do my best to limit what those things are. As for the talking without pausing thing that connects to this as I HAVE to pause so that I don't miss anything (because you absolutely will miss things if you talk over them while they're happening). Anyways your english is great (shoot it's better than mine lol), thanks for subbing and Welcome to the Leone Pride 🦁❤️💛

Something that I think will be interesting for you as a rapper is identifying each character’s style. In My Shot, Hamilton’s style is very current to show that he is thinking ahead and a trendsetter. When Washington comes in, his style is more reminiscent of an 80’s style of rap to show he’s more “old school.” And Jefferson’s introduction is a jazz song to show that he’s stuck in the past.
There’s also a lot of references to look out for like Biggie’s Ten Crack Commandments.

Also, part of the genius of this musical is that all throughout you here references to other musicals. Like when Burr says, "You got to be carefully taught (if you talk you gonna get shot)" that's a reference from the classic musical South Pacific. The song "You've got to be carefully taught" is about why racism exists.

I flew from UKRAINE to see it live getting those expensive-ass resale tickets. Unfortunately it was with only half original cast and without LMM but it still was worth everything to me. I had to get a totally new job as an interpreter for the political party delegation that was flying in to meet new Trump administration just to get a visa (basically zero chances for a young woman to get US visa otherwise). Miranda has described Hamilton as "America then, as told by America now." It is his stock answer when people ask him about all the non-white actors playing the roles of the founding fathers. You also might be interested to know that Miranda worked on the writing of My Shot for a year. Part of his purpose was to demonstrate through the brilliance of the lyrics and rhyme schemes that Hamilton was a brilliant thinker. He wanted that established early. My Shot serves as the "I want" song for Hamilton. Don't worry if you don't remember much from American history class. You know the basics from that and this musical will provide the rest of what you need to know to follow the plot. I enjoyed your reaction. This is a great musical - if history were taught this way, we all would remember a whole lot more!

Born out of wedlock in Charlestown, Nevis, an island in the Leeward islands, later called the West Indies, he was orphaned as a child and taken in by a prosperous merchant. He pursued his education in New York City where, he advocated for the American revolutionary cause. He served as an artillery officer in the American Revolutionary War, served for years as an aide to General George Washington, and helped secure American victory at the climactic Siege of Yorktown, and was the first U.S. secretary of the treasury from 1789 to 1795 during George Washington's presidency.

Lin Manuel started writing musicals because he wanted to act in musicals but, as you pointed out, there aren’t a lot of roles intended for people of color. He didn’t want to be Bernardo in West Side Story for the rest of his life. His first show took place in his home neighborhood of Washington Heights and was entirely cast with people of color, and when he wrote this show, he wanted it to also reflect his America.

I only say this, since you're obviously good with music and how things intertwine. Great reaction. I am a big fan of Hamilton and it is fun to see it through the eyes of someone experiencing it for the first time. You did a great job picking up on the rhyme schemes. The edit was great. Sorry you had such a hard time getting a version that didn’t get flagged. I am excited for part 2. The Schuyler sisters is coming up. Rewind is so cool, the king is great with You’ll be back and my favorite is Guns and ships. Have you done any Harry Mack reactions? He is a freestyle rapper that takes random suggestions of words from stranger and creates whole songs. I will look through your video catalogue and maybe do a different comment with a specific video link for you to react to.

@@AmariLeone thanks for replying to my comment. I am subscribed so I can check out part 2. Harry Mack is a freestyle rapper who makes up whole songs on the spot with words people suggest on the fly. It is truly an amazing thing to watch and I love how positive he is bringing so much joy to the strangers he meets. His community is very friendly and welcoming and we love seeing new people react to Harry Mack content. The fact that you are a rapper and were picking up on the A B A B rhyme schemes makes you a perfect candidate. Also the nice thing is you don’t have to worry about your video being flagged for copyright. Harry wants people to react and share. You can play the whole thing and have the video up the whole time and will have no issues, I promise. All his beats are ones he creates or picks ones from creators that done get flagged. The last thing I will say is his videos are usually 15-20 minutes long. His fans will want you to react to the whole thing and pause and discuss your thoughts throughout. It is not uncommon for a reaction video to be 30+ minutes. If you only want to react to the first encounter and song to start with that is okay. It is only about 5-7 minutes. Don’t skip the discussion beforehand and don’t skip the adds he raps the adds. Omegle (pronounced Oh-me-gull) is a website where you can go to be paired with a video chat with a stranger. Either person can skip at any point. I think it is shut down now. During the pandemic Harry blew up with his Omegle bars series. Omegle bars 45 is my favorite. There are so many to chose from, you really can’t go wrong.

Lin Manuel and Daveed were in a freestyle group. When Lin asked Daveed if he wanted to do a run through on the very earliest version on Hamilton, Daveed was a substitute teacher. "Do I get paid for it," Daveed asked. Yes! lol so he was in.

Someone possibly already said this, but some of the "songs" are just transitions. In this case, it's the short dialogue between Burr and Hamilton before we meet John Laurens, Marquis de Lafayette, and Hercules Mulligan. I, along with everyone else (I'm guessing), can't wait until you get to A Winter's Ball and Guns and Ships!

The musical styles for each character matches them. The king is a British pop band, George Washington is more like 80s style. Oh Hamilton was born in Nevis.

Common mistake, but the saying is not “the full gambit” but “the full gamut.” As in, “Hamilton was going through the gamut of human experiences in his childhood.”
“Gamut” means “the complete range or scope of something.”
    Keep up the great work!
