if you wanna know what they think about people who move to a rival club, just look up what Barca fans did to Figo or what Tottenham fans did to Sol Campbell. Some derbies go way deeper than just football, a lot of politics are involved like Barca/Real and Celtic/Rangers
There are two main types of rivalries in football. First, you have the 'Clásico,' which is not unique to Real Madrid vs Barcelona but represents a clash between two of the biggest clubs in a country's history (like Manchester United vs Liverpool, Bayern Munich vs Dortmund, or PSG vs Marseille). Then, you have the 'derby,' a rivalry between two clubs from the same city. Both types of rivalries are usually equally hyped up.
sometimes in football, there's more than one rivalry. you got one city rivalry like atletico madrid vs real madrid. one country rivalry real madrid vs fc barcelona . and even european rivalry like real madrid vs liverpool or vs bayern munich.
A derby is two teams from the same city , a classico is usually the 2 biggest clubs in the country which they could happen to be from the same city also in some cases, and yes you can have more than 1 rivalry ,I mean London for instance has like 6 big teams so there are a lot of derbies and rivalries going on there
@@pauloe.8593 I doubt that, a rivalry of biblical porportions perhaps, but try Israel vs Palestine, a match never played due to the hostility, same goes for Croatia vs Serbia or Armenia vs Turkye and I can't wait for Russia vs Ukrain...
Keep in mind vids like this are mostly made by or for Americans and thus focus mainly on the Premier League, but most of those rivalries have fade out due to commerce and globalisation, nowadays a Man.Utd vs Man City or Arsenal vs Tottenham have become boring, expensive, passionless touristtraps.
A very British-centered list. So many other great rivalries in European football (In Serbia, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, etc), and of course in Africa (Morocco and Egypt are wild), Asia, and South America.
Of course you can have many rivalries. You can beef over many different things (for example, local/regional/national/international or religion/class/history/politics etc). You can also have many derbies, as big cities often have many clubs in the top division.
a derby and a rivalry are not the same thing. they have many similarities but derby's are often location based... like two clubs from the same city or something... while rivalries can arise from different things like politics, achievements, events that happened in the past etc. For example in the Netherlands you got the derby feyenoord (based in rotterdam) vs. Sparta (Also based in rotterdam) .... but feyenoord's actual rival is Ajax (Amsterdam)
Real Madrid is fighting to be the kings of Madrid against Getafe and Atletico Madrid, they fight against Barcelona for Spain and Europe. Then certain rivalries is created from something more deep rooted that goes beyond sports, doesn't mean city rivalries is not a thing or the opposition would go soft of them because they have another rival.
All these derbies are nothing compared to derbies in Southeast Asian football, especially Indonesia, there is the fiercest derby from a club called Persebaya vs Arema Malang... Thousands of lives were lost, yes people died for the football club, the players must be guarded and used military vehicles when entering the stadium,, it was like war when they played,, but the world doesn't show it because they are only a club from Southeast Asia

R9 was in Barcelona in 1996-1997 and he was in Real Madrid in 2002-2007. Even though he played for the opposite team he is still a loveable guy.
Can't say the same for Figo 😂

Where is Bayern and dortmund rivalry
Not a good rivalry because Bayern always win the league
It's Dortmund and Schalke not Dortmund and Bayern
Gotta watch the Netflix La Liga All Access for some Barca-Real Madrid, Sevilla-Betis and other rivalry stuff.
Most rivalries bégu like the club of the bourgeoisie Vs the club of the people. If they are in the same city…it’s even worse
