    Brilliant listen, as always!
    Two-Car Garage:
You are an International Man of Mystery.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to follow a suspicious Swiss money launderer who spends their time between Geneva and Monte Carlo. With the cover of a rogue financier, you must gain their respect and overtime infiltrate their dodgy dealings… However, we are in a cost of living crisis. MI6 budget cuts have axed any future £3,000,000 Aston Martin prototypes like the DB10 or Valhalla. As such, you need to scour the used market (though Collecting Cars, of course) to find two second-hand motors to fit this persona, yet not upset Vesper Lynn and her Treasury colleagues. Depreciation is the name of the game!! One car must be a slice of opulence and extravagance for Casino Square, whilst the other must be a 4-wheeled business express for the drive to Geneva. Both must be potent enough to drive your way out of bother yet be bought within a £250,000 budget.
    The best of luck.

Chris’ comment about Italian radio is exactly why I love using the analogue tuner. You’re much more likely to stumble upon a niche, local station playing something brilliant. There’s also those hilarious moments when a snippet of string section from Radio 3 will momentarily interrupt your favourite south London pirate jungle station.

I was sold a car by an old guy who insisted that I start the car, roll a cigarette and get it drawing well before setting off otherwise it would stall or grind gears. I didn't smoke. Fixed the cold start issues and replaced the clutch as it had worn out , changed the gearbox oil as it was low and never had to smoke, just hop in and drive.

2 car garage: Your an Aussie sheep shearer with a burning passion for cars that's hotter than the Outback sun. As a kid, you'd tear up the dirt with your matchbox cars, but as a teen, you stumbled upon racing games. That's when the Gran Turismo franchise became your Bible. Fast forward and you're a 48-year-old turbocharged enthusiast with $100K AUD. But hold onto your Akubra hat, because Aussie car prices are relatively high. Find 2 cars that'll make your heart race faster than a V8 engine. The first, a daily runabout - a family-friendly juggernaut that can haul tools, beers, and tow a jet ski. With whatever cash you've got left over, it's time to fulfill your dream. A ride that'll dance through the twists and turns of the Great Dividing Range. The decision is yours, mate!

Lewis in the Ferrari would be ace. Looking at Mercs - Toto's - comments about the car and this promise of a brand new car etc.. but then turns around and says "I'm glad AM were fast now we know the back end, gearbox, suspension, etc is fine", makes me feel like we're just going to get the W13 mark 3 again and Hamiltons request to sit further back will be ignored again. Hamilton would have won a race in that Ferrari I reckon. Or at least been on the podium a hell of a lot more. I know Ferrari have a good line up, and I like Sainz, he's a racer. LeClerc is quick but is a bottler, even with the car to match MV he won't win. MV is in his head too much, let's himself get bullied and driven off the track on every start staright. Anyways, yea LH at Ferrari, I wouldn't be angry at him for giving it a go before he retires. However, he's embedded all this "we rise together" marketing so much that he'll damage his image now if he leaves Merc. And knowing his luck the car will suddenly be quick the year he decides to bail haha

I have 3 cars pre 2005 that are my daily drivers. They all have hydraulic steering, manual gearboxes, NA engines and one has wind up windows. The cigar lighter is my life line to the digital world. I have a wireless adaptor in my cigar lighter socket which Bluetooth connects my phone to my analogue radio. This means I don't need DAB or a fancy head unit as I just listen to my Deezer / BBC sounds or any radio I want via my phone to my radio. It works perfectly and better than the DAB in my 4th car, which i never use as its rubbish so i use my phone as radio even in my DAB equipped McLaren.

F1: as a lifelong fan, I totally understand Neil’s instinct to switch it off and watch the football instead. It’s a total mess.
I also agree with Chris’s “maybe” prophesy that Lewis won’t win again in a Mercedes. Which only adds fuel to my fire of discontent. Not because I want Lewis to win but because the sport is not serving up a competitive grid. It happens but it’s not helped by all the guff that has been created to make the sport “more interesting” when, in fact, all I want is good racing.

I had a 1960s Alfa which had a strange cigarette lighter - you pressed it in to start it up, but instead of lifting it out and offering it to your cigarette, you'd put the fag into a hole in the centre of the lighter (which was fixed into the centre console) and it would light the cigarette in situ 😯😯

DAB. No no no. I usually don't like the new stuff, EVs, disc brakes on push bikes etc but DAB does work - it just depends what car you're in. 1st DAB car I had was 09 Ford kuga - worked brilliantly, my other half's focus is the same, and my 14 plate citroen picasso never misses a beat. I have a Norfolk built new sports car and DAB isn't as good but then I'd rather listen to the engine anyway!

    2 car suggestion?..
It's time you lost your safe, conservative motoring inhibitions and embrace the eccentric motor car ownership status you've always known you've harboured. Throwing caution and common sense out the tinted glass window it's time to risk a family and friends intervention on your new way of burning through your 2 children's inheritance. You have £150k to spend on 2 left field cars that you couldn't possibly recommend to anyone to buy but have wanted all your life. 1 will be your daily, the other utter self indulgence. To celebrate your time on this earth, at least 1 must have been on sale new on the year of your birth. Both will be a conversation starter at every stop.
Cheers lads, don't take anymore weeks off...

F1 World Driver Champion explained - You go to a track day with 19 of your friends. You all hire the 20 available cars. There are VW golfs, BMW M3's, Mazda MX5's, Porsche 911's, one Ferrari, one Lamborghini and one F1 car. You all have a great time, and the friend in the F1 car says he is the best driver in the world. Is he better than the friend driving the golf, or the mx-5 ? This fits the real F1 season, where possibly the best driver in the world is driving a Williams or a Hass. To claim that the guy driving the fastest car is the best driver in the world does not compute. Only if all the drivers , drive the same car could we know who is the best driver in the world. In Formula one, it is only clear which team makes the fastest car. There is no point awarding best driver, based on him driving the fastest car. Remove the world drivers championship from formula one.

    2 CAR GARAGE
You are having a mini midlife crisis, you are a petrolhead but haven’t been able to scratch that itch due to financial restraints and family commitments. For the last 20 years you’ve been driving mundane used family cars and MPV’s, but after receiving an inheritance you now have £40,000 to spend on your 2 car garage.
Now here’s where things get interesting as you have an eclectic taste in vehicles as you like American vehicles, hot hatches, estate cars, large luxury saloons and coupe’s all from the mid 80’s mid 90’s.
Now one car needs to be American and both need to be something obscure yet exciting to drive but you can take your grandkids (and future petrolheads) out to your local car meet and get the attention of everyone there.
Don’t forget they must be from mid 80’s -mid 90’s!
    Good luck gentlemen.

Neil looking like a cat burglar, love it. F1 again - the track gets too narrow through the "street circuit" bit of Abu Dhabi so any gain through the straights there's no room to actually make a move through the technical section if you've got the better balanced car.

Totally agree with Neil Clifford…Bo!!ocks. F1 has become about minutia which is distracting from the racing. Haven’t watched a full race since Lewis was robbed, watch Moto GP instead( which is slowly going the same way, tyre pressure monitoring and penalties, it’s not what the paying public / viewers want. My first actual go was when Jo Siffert won as a privateer…

Kit Car Idea: Hello! So you are a passionate kit car enthusiast of many years, but the catch is you have yet to personally own one because of the constant dilemma of accommodating my dog. So despite enjoying a life behind the wheel of home made cars. It has been a life of Audi& Mercedes diesel estates, I've recently hit the 50 milestone and finally have a garage, prompting me to consider a kit car purchase. Im exploring options and reliability isn't my top priority in this endeavour BUT Customisation potential is paramount. Any recommendations?

I was hoping the Albon analogy would be mentioned. If you haven't heard the full thing, I recommend you look it up. He's obviously in a unique position to make a comment on why Max is so fast in the Red Bulls, having tried it himself. It's like when you see really good Call of Duty players have the sensitivity cranked way up, so you try it yourself and end up with the lowest K/D you've ever seen.

The joy of watching & listening to you 5 continues; thank you. Totally agree with your thoughts on DAB. As high-lighted by Chris C, the clear indicator that you are "coming home" to Cornwall is when Pirate PM is picked up on the radio wave-lengths - either FM or DAB - on the A30 just after Okehampton and the other being the wooded copse at about the same time/point on the journey

Love listening to you guys. Completely agree on the F1 front. The last year was beyond boring. I've never cared for the circuit setting or the layout. I'd love to have Sepang back and I'm glad we have Shanghai back on the calendar next year, both of those are infinitely more exciting than Abu Dhabi. But as a whole, these new 2022 era cars are super dull and have yet to produce the kind of racing we were promised at least not in any kind of consistent manner and teams continue to exploit loopholes in the regulations that increase downforce and increase the wake the cars behind and basically setting things back to what they were in terms of making passing harder. Just a shit situation all around. You know who doesn't care though? Liberty Media, they are getting their money's worth and then some.

    2 car garage:
You’ve just sold your company for a jizzillion pounds. You’ve just bought a pile in the country but as you’re a practical man you decide you only need two vehicles. Your budget is unlimited - no dream is too big, but your worst nightmare is a car that won’t start on a Sunday morning, so the key question other than which two cars is, how do you keep them?

Idea for the 2 Car Garage: You're an aspiring enthusiast who has increasingly noticed that the modern design language of cars is becoming ever more bulbous and tepid, leaving you with a dull ache in your chest like the ghost of Pininfarina's past plucking at the heartstrings with muted fingers. You live in North London and ULEZ has ruined the dream of bombing around in a Classic Mini, but you yearn for an escape to the B roads with a friend in tow and the occasional track day. You have a penchant for manual transmission Hatchbacks and spirited drives, but you and your better half are touring musicians and also need a mile muncher with plenty room for all the trappings of a band. Your dear Grandparents have recently left you 30k, and you would like to have something you can rev the bee's out of on weekends, and plod along the motorway when necessary to a basement venue in Preston.

The arugment for not needing to check oil/water/pressure etc on a new car is completely flawed. All modern cars do is tell you something is wrong. The point of checking - is to not let is go wrong!
Just like your red oil pressure warning light - all that light can tell you is 'your too late'.

As ever I really enjoy watching everyone who happily sat through a formula of "tokens" which made it so no-one was able to possibly catch up with the rocketship Mercedes had built sitting down and discussing how everyone having an equal budget and Mercedes being unable to spend their way out of the very slight hole they have dug themselves into is bad for the sport!

6:09 Because it doesn't have long straights and slow corners Chris, there's only one part that is like that and it's turn 5 to turn 6. Not surprisingly that's where almost all the overtakes happen.

Ross Brawn and Pat Symonds invented a new ground effect era… interesting that Adrian Newey has been able to develop a winner with his history , shame others didn’t do their homework

If you unscrew or fold in your FM Aerial then you get the same level of coverage as DAB so that argument is out the window 🤣

Two Car Garage: You’re the stunning daughter of a wealthy foreign industrialist attending university in America. Money is no object. You consider yourself a proper petrolhead, a bit handy behind the wheel thanks to several years of karting, but above all a young woman of exquisite taste and dignity. One car will be used to commute to class in Downtown Los Angeles and the other should be a car truly befitting your status and passion for motoring.

I've never understood why they don't have "seasons" within seasons. The European season, The Middle East season, the Far East season & the Americas... surely that makes? Rather than bouncing from one side of the world to another. I suppose it's to do with weather / time of year for certain tracks maybe? Or to spread out the interest across the season.

Tried DAB for over a year. Every time I tried it, it always had silents pauses. Always. It was maddening. Kept loving FM ever since. DAB is not for me.
