good series
Great video. Thank you
Thanks Nicholas, much appreciated. All the best, laters, Matt.
Double boost makes the spanner for your chuck matt. Good luck dave from worden
How do Dave, Buy one? 😂 I’ll draw one and get it laser cut…. Much cheaper!! 😉. All the best, Matt
@@MattChiversWorkshop i forgot about that option. But it's reminded me to sort my pc out. Then I can start do stuff again
So nice to use new chucks on a lathe. When I was working at the trade it was just get it done quickly in the shop and the equipment took an awful beating. One time when I had just graduated my apprenticeship and was working on the main toolroom floor I spent half a day trying to true a piece up in a four jaw chuck till one of the journeyman told me I could never do it as the machine spindle was bent.

Hi Dick, Hope you're well sir. It makes a huge difference with the new chuck, much better to machine with. Good grief, that must have taken some mis-use to bend a spindle of a lathe, wow 😱. All the best, Laters, Matt
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching. 👍
thumbs up, looking forward for some tinkerbell updates.
Didn't mention before, I once drove a tinkerbell here in Germany. Needed a shoehorn to get me in and out, but it was much fun... until i hit the dirt due to a misalligned point. But lucky me (and the engine) she kept upright and could be brought back to rail very quick.
Since that experience, I', pretty happy with my 1 in 7 scale narrow gauge on 5"-gauge track ;-)
Thanks Waldbahner, much appreciated. I have to admit, I've never sat in one, so hopefully I'll fit! 😂. I love your 5" gauge engineering, very inspiring and your model making is amazing!!! All the best, Laters, Matt
@@MattChiversWorkshop Thanks Matt. I try hard in model working since 25 years now. And I still improve and learn new things. Maybe one day, I might even learn welding 😄
Cheers, Gerd
Nicely set up ready for the off!
Most definitely, can get some important stuff machined now!
Hiya Matt. Have had a 6" Vevor chuck for a while, together with the 5" that came with my Chipmaster. I must admit that I made the register on the backplate a "tap on" fit to the chuck and was amazed that it was within a thou and so i left it at that. 2 years on, with heavy Grum use it is now around 5 thou which personally I think is amazing for a cheap chuck. If I need repeatability I just use a collet. Looking forward to seeing your Tink up and running in the summer. I won't suggest which summer though.
I'm really pleased with it, obviously if it goes out I can adjust it. I need to save up some pennies for some of these collects!!
Tink up and running for summer 😂😂, with no boiler maybe!! All the best Buddy, Laters, Matt
Hi Matt I was a little shocked that you failed to place some protection on the ways. Some 12 mm ply or 20 mm timber would do very nicely. Now that spanner for the chuck a man of your talent should be able to knock one up as hammer the head nut is something for those Chinese back yard boys not a English man. Keep up the good work.
RB, I know, I keep forgetting about it, I’ve got the materials to make one I just forget! 😂. Maybe a video on drawing one and getting it laser cut! All the best, Matt
You could protect the bed with an wooden board, if something falls ...
Hi Josef, in over 30years of mucking around with these things, I’ve never damaged a bed. All the best, Matt.
Nice one Matt
Has xmas come late or early!!!! Laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
take care
Kev
Now then Kev, Its come late really, I needed this a while ago. Now we are go go go!! All the best, Laters, Matt
You buy a brand new chuck and brand new backing plate but you can't buy a proper spanner wrench? 😂🤣🤷🏼
What can I say….. buy the wrench first or the Chuck?! It’s like the chicken and the egg all over again 😂😂. Real reason, this is a poor man’s workshop and funds only stretch so far, we’ll get there in the end. All the best, Matt.
@@MattChiversWorkshop I'm in the same situation at my home shop, my shop isn't even in a garage! It's under a patio in the back yard 😂🤣🤣
