A tie between Nessa and Raihan. Nessa for that "YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" look upon defeat and it's somewhat a relatable feeling that a majority of us feel when our battle strategy doesn't go as planned or gets dismantled while with Raihan it's mainly cause while he has that "It's no biggie" look but his Rotom Phone floating next to him shows with it's expression that it knows that he's trying to hide it to look cool. But I like all these defeat animations nonetheless.

I honestly started to feel bad for hop as the story went on, over the campaign, you just see the hope leave his eyes

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I really like Leon's reaction. Looks like he's someone who doesn't handle losses well, which might be understandable since he rarely losses, but since it's to someone he knows well, he accepts it.
Seriously reminded me when I battled my friend for the first time. Since I, and I'm sure most pokemon players never lost a battle in the story, feeling the first defeat kinda stings, but I thoroughly enjoyed the battle since it's my first time battling another player, my close friend, no less.

@@alishac5540 I actually think that part was part of his act. He was still upset by the loss but he had to put on a brave face for the crowd and cameras.
If you defeat him in the battle tower, he hides his face in his hat again and you can see his fist trembling in frustration. He doesn't have a smile for you then.

Well, in one hand he's kinda frustrated cuz he lost but in the other he's proud and satisfied because he introduced a great trainer (your character) into the Pokemon world, got a substitute and a trainer to "show" the world how strong Galar trainers are.

I have heard trainers that could get past her gym are few and far between. Which means losses for her are rare therefore, she was surprised when we won.
1:07 Really disappointed they didn't make the losing animation of Allister's mask falling off, looking around in shock and embarrassment and quickly wearing back his mask and covering it.
You missed the opportunity to show our cute ghost boi his face GameFreak. Also, I know we can see his face in the League Card, I mean as in see him unmasked in the overworld.

i think thats partly the point. He's going through s t ri ct training to be a presentable fairy type gym leader so of course he now has praticed poses for every situation- Image is very important to him. The words tell you it's still him on the inside, but the outside says he's at least trying to turn over a new leaf.

I adore all these new animations/ models! They managed to pack so much character into the little things. Whether it be an animation for gigantamaxing, or a simple defeat animation!

To be honest at the beginning of the game I hated Bede, but slowly I started feeling bad for him, lol.
I also don't understand why everyone hates Hop. He's just a friendly rival. Sure he's annoying sometimes, but I did feel bad for him when I beat him every single battle.

Hop is the first rival character where I actually felt bad for kicking their butt
I’m the only who who believes that Leon (at least in his own mind) let you win the first battle. He takes it graciously, smiling and giving one last cheer to the crowd. If anything, it was his duty to pass it on. Beating him at the battle tower shocks him. He realises he truly has been beaten. He looks shocked and visibly angry, his arm shaking and he properly hides behind his cap

My favourite's are Piers, Rose's, Hop's battle for champion and Both of Leon's battles.
