    Did you ever complete the in-depth review of any of the other Garmin Marq watches from the intro video?

    The Garmin Fenix is very visible in the sunlight. In fact since it has a transflective screen, the more light you shine on the screen the more visible it becomes. That makes it ideal for daylight activities and in the sun.
    So I take it this watch has a regular LCD technology ? Meaning not transflective ?

      Same screen, I think it is simply the lens playing tricks. As you mentionthe more light hits it, the easier to read. It’s been a while since this was shot but We probably used polarizing/ND filters (as there was too much light at times, blowing out the shots) and such on the camera at certain times - that might have perhaps altered the screen legibility. All I can say is that in real life I did not notice any difference with the fenix screen, not worse nor better 👍

      Actually you can buy the fenix without sapphire crystal glass witch is whey less reflective.

    The screen looks really dim in the sunlight. Is that just the camera or is it like that in person too?

      @degriff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just the camera, looks perfectly fine in real life!

    can You tell me what is the color of Paracord bracelet on Yours wrist?

    • @degriff
      @degriff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Arkadiusz, this was a chord recovered from a sailing boat locally, someone just made it in that bracelet on the spot. It was just a navy blue, with red and white accents. As far as I could tell it wasn't exactly paracord though, less threads inside than parachord if you know what I mean

    I had a montblanc summit 2 which I enjoyed, but I disliked the way in the sun, it was almost impossible to view the face. This looks the same, I want to like smart watches but I’m much happier now with a regular traditional watch that doesn’t wash out in sunlight.

      I would never wear ONLY this watch. Love mechanical watches way too much for that and they are a different animal indeed. For sports watches however, Garmin makes some superb stuff and this particular one is one of the very best. Screen visibility is no issue, rarely need the backlight during the day (you can set it to go on at the flip of your wrist, I turned it off). But yes - no subsititute for a mechanical watch 👍

    2:55 what do you mean? Did Garmin sent you the watch for review (so for free)?

    • @degriff
      @degriff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes had it for a 90 day hands-on test. This is not done in the watch world, as that is a lot of time for things to go wrong. So Garmin was clearly very confident the watch is solid. And it is, there is no better built sports watch out there right now. Mind you we never keep watches we get sent for review, everything gets sent back.
