    Way to go keeping your distance. I don't care what kind of rope or chain you're using you stay out of the way, especially with that amount of force. Anything breaks and it's like bullets. A lesson my dad never let me forget on the farm. Especially if you don't know the guy pulling you out. Getting our 8550 stick back in the day required a dozer usually, just weren't big 4x4 tractors around at that time.

    The Welkers in Montana have three Big Bud articulateds. Two pull their seed drills and one stands-by as a dedicated rescue tractor. They have alkaline patches and can sink in to the axles or deeper. Their heavy floater spray-truck also serves as a rescue puller...and it goes 50-mph.

    5:10 In aerospace we have "connector savers" , an inexpensive adaptor that's used on connectors that are frequently (dis) connected. The replaceable adaptor then takes all the abuse instead of having to repair or replace the permanent connector.

    How are those straps holding up for you guys? They look like the same ones we use and the ring in the end ends up cutting the eyelet because its too small. Those dont stretch much. We rip 4 or 5 a season and they arent cheap. I run into a guy around kindersley sk who makes 3 ply 10 inch wide rated for 300,000lbs made out of nylon which stretches 20% compared to 2 or 3% stretch on those red which are polyester. He triple layers the eyelet and warranties rips IF you use a 2 inch clevis on the eye. We put in a 6 strap order for 2021 seeding run. I would cut the ring out of your current straps if thats where they are failing for you guys and use at least 2 inch clevis which typically has a 35 ton rating which is easy to max out by jerking. Shes a dangerous game coming to the end of that strap with a 30 ton tractor or tractors in some cases lol. Cheers

    Mike, I have a question? if all the fields are plowed and the soil itself becomes soft, there will be no dams in the middle of the levels, it will just absorb the water and the fields will even come out
    now this water is not absorbed by the soil because you use only 10cm maximum depth and only tamp it? and the soil cannot absorb the water.
    did you try it with plowing?

    • @mikemitchell2554
      @mikemitchell2554  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mike, I’m sure you guys have tried everything, I was thinking that maybe if you ran a flat roller over the straw when it’s wet ,it might help dry out the wet spots enough to get them planted, but not

    • @mikemitchell2554
      @mikemitchell2554  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would pack the ground too much

    • @1214101
      @1214101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean roll it in the winter early spring when the ground is wet, it will mash the straw in the mud. It will let those areas get more sun and dry up better by the time you’re ready to plant. I don’t think the packing would be a problem, and it help with the rocks too

    • @Bit01
      @Bit01 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will mash the stubble on top of the mud, insulating it from the sun and making it take longer to dry out. Then you'd have to plow it again anyway. Using a disc to break it up would work better, but with 40k acres that's a lot of extra work, time and fuel.

  • @pietervandervyver516
    @pietervandervyver516 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    at 21:08 you say "let's pop it out then we can continue seeding"

      Different crops, different soils, different climates, and different pest control methods, all have requirements for dealing with the planting methods.
