Awesome video Mike. I know that sleep deprivation feeling. We had Orchards and greenhouses in Southwestern Ontario. Getting up at 2 in the morning to change irrigation lines in the field. Then heading to the greenhouses to pick tomatoes. Get them to the packing plant by 6:30. Back out in the orchard by 7:30 till the sun went down. Now I am 65 and miss those days so much.
Mike the 1050 is really sounds at ease at 1500 RPM. You are a smart farmer my friend and getting things done. At least Ashtyn will have a warm cab in the morning.

I am watching you now from north Scotland is actually 23:40 and outside is not yet dark. That is the part of year when night last 2-3hours amazing.
The drill software says only a crazy person would want to start seeding at 1:30AM & thus is hesitant on working

Mike, you took the words right out of my mouth with the night thing. We're day creatures. You can call yourself a night owl all you want but us as humans are day time people. Our vision is designed to work in the light, not the dark.
You’re right, but when you run your drill 24/7 it helps to get into a routine. For us it’s usually only 3 weeks or less out of the year.
@@davidlogel2350 Doesn't matter if you're running drill, digging holes, sitting in front of a computer or sitting on the couch. A routine is always a good thing to have. Your body has a natural clock and when everything happens when its supposed, you're gonna be firing on all 8 cylinders instead of in limp mode because something isn't matching up.
@@davidlogel2350 Either way, you can't run 24/7. Fuel, maintenance, break downs, loading, traveling and every other little thing. Mike explained pretty well how even if you did try to run around the clock, you still would be short because of all those things I listed. You do as much as you can with what you got. Thays all there is to it.
@@mikeznel6048 we run 24/7 here. That doesn’t mean the drill is seeding 24/7. That means seeding and the things necessary to continue seeding are going 24/7. 6-6 one operator, one trucker. Same for 6-6 nights. The tractor is only shut of long enough after a fill once in a 24 hour cycle to check fluids. Usually less than 15 minutes the engine is off and other things like greasing or fuelling are being done while fluids get a chance to level off for an accurate check. Many other farms do the same and it maximizes the ability to seed much more than that usual 100 acre per foot of drill mark.
So thoughtful of you to keep tractor warm for your wife. That's the reason u where seeding in the night, so she didn't have to get in a cold tractor right. Happy wife happy life.
Love your energy. I'm like that too. Just don't run into anything at night. The lights of the tractors are awesome, but the problem is between lit spots.

magic mike cant beat a bit of night work , i remember many years ago like in the 80s was out drilling at 2 in the morning when suddenly all these blue lights turned up to see what the heck was going on , they laughed when saw what was going on , said to them give us a hand to load seed in the drill (cwt bags) then they helped me load ,laughed an off they went !!! just so lovely to see you out there at night & you only have to do it once , could rain for 3 weeks , like here in the UK , regards to you & ash

A Couple of years ago my neighbour seeded his whole farm with 1 section plugged . It looked terrible .He must have never checked his drill and never peed.
Probably peed on the front tiers.

I agree it’s better running hard than running over night. You’re correct our bodies aren’t meant to stay up all night. I worked the over nights for years and people on the night shift tend to get sick more also as our bodies try to get into a normal circadian rhythm. So you’ll have more people calling out sick also.

Yesterday it was turn on a dime with 7 cents change. Today it's 8 cents. Tired mike is an treat.
Not the same work as yours but can totally relate to the sleep thing. In my younger days working in commercial/industrial construction. We worked our normal shifts, then traveled to the other side of our state to do a shutdown in a hospital ER. That's when the ER goes on bypass until all work is completed. 4 crews working elbows and shirt tails. 17 hours straight with only 5-10 minute breaks, eating while you work. My adrenaline wore off while driving home. Dosed off 3-4 times while at the wheel, got home and couldn't go to sleep.
feeding the world is hard work. i hope you dont do too many night shifts, canada does need future generations of farmers ;) thanks for feeding the world, and creating future farmers, wink wink.

About the innoculant - would it help to coat the walls of the sadlle tank with some cheap bio oil? Oil repels water, which is clearly what makes the stuff stick. Otherwise; buy another broom! Place it next to the saddle tank ;) Problem solved :)

Its actually a thing. Times I've been up wayy too long, I couldn't sleep for whatever reason so I just keep doing whatever I'm doing.

I've been there as an ex- otr driver... too tired to sleep is a real thing!
I'm 56 going on 57 and can't count how many times I've gone 50-60 hours without sleep because of a situation.
Nature of the beast in my line of work, i just did 47 straight last week on a critical breakdown.

On a side note, before coming self employed I always worked the night shift whenever possible, especially in the summer

Ive got good friends that have lost kids to that shit and 2 cousins.
All of them got hooked on that crap after having had surgeries.
I've had 2 total knee replacements and a shoulder and hip overhauled and never took any of that crap.
Just what was given tip me while in the hospital for a couple of days.
I used to play a lot of football and pain is just a fact of life, good days and bad days.
Ive got RA, fibromyalgia, psoriatic and of course osteoarthritis and only 2 good discs in my back.
I've broke my back twice and my bed neck once but I keep on plugging along.
Sure, I'm slower doing some things but I still get it done and my customers are happy.
I actually feel better during the work day, it's when i stop that the pain catches up to me.
I've got nobody to pay my bills for me so what choice is there.
Not looking for pity, just sayin.
I can relate to you Mike! when you can’t get any sleep and you think to yourself, what do I do now it’s 2 am in the morning, and I can’t get any sleep... hmm... well I still have seeding to do. should I stay or should I go? yeah I’ll go! And the next day you can’t even stand on your feet😂 but that’s how it goes when you can’t sleep and you can’t stop thinking about what you have to do😂😂

How much time does it take to go seeding after you start the engine? like 15 mins or something like that?
The idea is to get their warm slo it will flow. 5 minutes should be enough fora small unit

Mike, from the video the Fendt does appear to have a great lighting system. You also get in a lot of stair climbing on the cart! You take care.
It's challenging and that's a great machines
60 hours straight it pretty hardcore, best I did was 22 hours then 2 hours sleep then 12 hours, that was enough for me, never again.
My longest was 36hrs straight in the oil field running flow back water. I knew if I was on the grey/brown fuzzy and in between the green fuzzies I was on the road

Fabulous lights on the Fendt! just awesome. Seems like you could use a headlight for inspecting things like the planter or the grain bins or doing work in the shop. may I suggest a rechargeable headlight from Amazon for about 20 bucks. They use the 18650 batteries that last forever, and when dimming, just recharge for another 12-16 hours of bright light. They're addicting. I have four.
I have a question Mike. Will the Fendt pull with the 4 wheel assist unlocked?
We use a curling broom to push down the inoculate. Works pretty good i think.

When you're so tired you can't just sleep so you get up and be productive just to go to bed x hours later. But hey, getting the job done is better than nothing.

Hey mike I got a question for you, I have been watching the seeding videos, and I have noticed a few time you have showed the x30 monitor and I noticed you run your drills with the ASC off and drill control off, and your manually lifting drill at headlands.
