Firemaking in OSRS just got easier

- Today's game update brought the long awaited Wintertodt changes. Ironmen and normal accounts alike should no longer feel rushed to get 99 firemaking before training up other skills. The warmth meter has replaced hitpoints at this boss (or minigame) and there's many other quality of life fixes that came with it. Also discussing how Wintertodt has changed over the years to fit into the path of ironman progression.
The other half of the news post is updates to Varlamore part 2, which includes drop rates and changes related to Hueycoatl, Amoxliatl, Colossal Wyrm agility course, Mastering Mixology, potion storage, reagent pouch, and more!

Living in Aus, the downtime is usually very sad. Comes on during our peak playing time in the evening.
As a central european, its always around noon for us, but i totally can see why for you lads ( also for the Kiwi's) can be an issue

I've only done like 5 games so far but it seems like you can just use the regen bracelet and rapid heal/hp cape and be full health almost all the time. Really easy option for higher lvl players and those that used to use redemption.

@@lampisfun1139check update notes. They specifically made a synergy for those items to affect the warmth meter, because of feedback.

These replies are filled with people who don't seem to understand that something being easy doesn't simply refer to the complexity or skill requirement but can also refer to the effort required. So yes, It does make it have less bullshit which lowers the complexity, yes going out to the tent after every 1-2 runs to refill on food requires more effort put into it and makes it overall less afk, and no it was never hard just overly complex and is surprisingly dated for how new the content is relative to other content.
With 99 hp cape and regen bracelet, I never went below 87% warmth in the few games I tested. Even tanked the exploding brazier.

I did a solo game until 13.5k points without hp cape or regen bracelets and I never went below 80%, and I also tanked some braziers. It seems basically impossible to die.
Time to bang out 99 fm
did 6 or so rounds of wintertodt and got well over 35k xp, which isnt that much different but its a nice little buff. soooo much nicer to do with the changes; the potions and warmth meter feel excellent, as well as the changes to how often the damage stops your actions. just feels so much better in general.
I just started my Ironman. Went to 82 fm within couple of days. I was using +- 2/3 of cake every game. Yesterday, after update, using 4 warm clothes, I have eaten only couple of times (only cuz I was getting a lot of attacks in a row). But using potions to heal, there is no need to go outside: crates are not bulking my inv and food is just potions that can be crafted inside.
Also very huge update for Ironman, because now HP lvl doesn't matter, everyone takes same damage. We can actually play the game alongside getting 99 fm.
Haven't tried solos, but pretty sure it is going to be much easier.

😳10exp per potion kinda high NGL
To save bank space with potions, I only keep potions in 4 or 1-dose vials. I'll quickly combine or split up any 2 and 3-dose potions when I get to the bank. It's a little extra work, but it neatens up my my bank by a lot.

I wish instead of a bar to track warmth they would have just turned the health orb blue when you're playing the mini-game. It functions like health, food recovers it, it is fatal and not safe, rejuv potions already heal the pyromancers health. Anything but more "look at this bar" mini-game

I look back at the flames of zammy zulrah bug fondly. And I'm not sad or upset it was removed, but just glad I got a chance to learn zulrah with it.

Baskets of strawberries are 5 heals per invent slot now. With the new crate storage mechanic, do solos still have a cap of 28 loot rolls?

I love this update as when I started my HCIM I didn't play runescape that much and just thought why not a HCIM. So by the time I found out Wintertodt existed I had 63 hp...
its really nothing amazing for ironmen, its kinda outdated advice and im not sure why people still think wintertodt is good. The rewards scale with your other skills levels so you want everything to be decently high otherwise it gives you lots of trash. At best all it gives is some coins while getting free FM xp.
But for coins on a low lvl character go wildy agility course for 2m/hr in alchables, its 100% safe if you're 30 combat or lower

I want to play how I want without being restricted by combat level just because I lacked knowledge at the time.

I wonder if you have placeholders of (4) dose in your bank and (3), (2), & (1) doses in potion storage can the (4) go into bank and all the others go to potion storage?
