    Greeting from Psytrance production where each 16th note has steady 40-50hz pulse at 147bpm. If you learn psy kick and bass, you can do anything 😅

      Does it change per bpm what if you were making say dark/psycore/slambient

    • @digidope
      @digidope ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yeahna You mean +160bpm genres? Those usually lack low end due the use of 16th kick that is too short to have low freqs. Basses also tend to be snappy. Different genres have different styles. I'm playing on Psytrance festival in few weeks, so need to go to check the Hi-Tech stage where BPM is 160-250 🤣

    • @yeahna
      @yeahna ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@digidope haha yeah definetely 160 plus is my preferred. Interesting I'd recommend if you haven't checking out the label the endless knot where they play slambient it's very sub bassy and consistent hits around 180 - 220 it is very heavy dark ambience music with thumping sub bass bass lines. What festival you playing? All the best with it!

    • @digidope
      @digidope ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yeahna Sounds interesting, will check that out. Festival is Kosmos Festival in Finland. D'n'B is also 174bpm and still sub heavy, but the style is very different.

    If you use a pluck bass and a kick, you can also ditch the note the note of the bass that lines up with the kick entirely. This gives a lot of seperation. But if you lack glue because of this, you can either invrease the tail of the kick, or you can you can use the previously mentioned glue compression and saturation techniques to glue them

    What Ive been stuck on lately is the tone of my bass/sub. I made a bass patch with Operator, In headphones I think it sounds great, same on my small monitors and it looks good in Tonal Balance, but in my car its off (too subby or not clean). Then the other day I found a patch through a project file that uses operator and it sounds so much better and Im still not sure why. Any thoughts on how to train the ear for that type of thing? Its been messing up a lot of my tracks???

    Wow, great video! The world really does need more content addressing low end. I'm a huge fan of using Pultec-style EQs generally and have been using the Bettermaker 232D on my low mids and side highs to control low end and stereo imaging before I get into final tonal balancing. That parallel distortion thing though... 🤔

    Idk about the UAD one, but with the other Pultec emulations I've used you HAVE TO turn on oversampling as well to get the boost/cut trick to work. You'll get a little bit of an effect without it, but the difference is night and day once it's on so def check and see if your UAD one is the same! Could seriously change the effect for ya! Boosting and cutting the same frequency will add some serious thump with oversampling on.

    I'm studying a lot of mixing and to be honest it's the most difficult part for me. I can't really listen the differences of most of things you're doing. I'm using a professional monitor and everything but oh boy, this shit is haaaard!

  • @InTheCity3D

    Drawing waves is great, but explaining what actually goes on with the speaker, makes phase cancellation much easier to understand.
    In a speaker, sound is produced by the movement of the diaphragm back and forth, creating waves of compression (pushing air) and rarefaction (pulling air to shape the sound). When two sound waves are in phase, their compressions and rarefactions align, reinforcing each other and producing a clear, strong sound. However, if sound waves are out of phase, the speaker attempts to do both things at the same time, pusing and shaping at the same time, resulting your sound, sounding like ass.
