❤️ I did this in several of my concerts in 2007. I used to invite people to the stage, and put a chair at the center, so I could improvise looking to the person. Each person brings a different energy. It's amazing. Another thing i used to do was to invite people who didn't play the piano, and without looking, I asked them to create a short theme at the piano. So I went there and after repeating everything the person played, I created an entire composition based on the theme they provided. People love to participate. I didn't know Chick did that too. 🎉❤❤❤

Today's loss of Chick Corea feels heartbreaking. A major creative force in the US and the world. What a shame that the NYPhil's scheduled performance of his trombone concerto was cancelled due to the pandemic, as was Chick's performance of a Mozart piano concerto. I'm so gad to have had the opportunity to see him perform with his Electrik Band, the Acoustic Band, and a special concert with him and Gary Burton with the Handel and Hayden Society. A world class talent, and an amazing human being. RIP, Chick...

When Chick played Vigdis' portrait, I cried tears of joy, inspiration and hope. We can create the world we want if our hearts are open to the beauty that is around us. RIP Chick Corea.
