I'm so glad that I randomly came across this video and saved it to watch. As someone on the very early stages of being a performing musician, this gave me extra insight on several different ways to turn my performances up another notch. The things gone over in this, are probably the majority of my current missing links with my performances. Right now, most of my performances are just at open mics, to work things out, and to up my experience as a performer. I also see, that if I can pull off a performance in a way that it captivates the attention of an open mic audience, then my performances will captivate the attention of any audience. Which, that's my goal on the performing aspect of being a musician.
Short, sweet and to the point - love it. I'll be trying this out at my next gig. I'd love to hear some of his recommendations if you're playing seated.
This is awhile ago at this point and i couldn't locate a soundcloud or spotify track myself but Alex does have a youtube channel! www.youtube.com/@ABainTrain

Don't!
@@gerardsloan5197 Some peole have to play seated due to injuries or aging.
Thank you for this quick and straight-to-the point lesson! It was very helpful, and I hope to remember it when playing live shows in the future! :)
Great advice! Man, I’m definitely gonna use at my next gig. Shoot, I could use that doing my covers. But not every song tho.
start your set that way.... covers should need no introduction. Give the added attention to what you've created!

I respectfully disagree, as I much prefer someone to get right down to business with no contrived monologue. However, to each his own.
Kool!
