    Greetings from Normandy,France I’m watching your channel and I subscribed. I promise you when I will go to San Diego. I will look you up. Possibly November 2025. 😊
    I really like the RT 1200 so that might be my next buy.

    Interesting review. I have owned one for nearly ten years. In all that time I never thought about the aesthetics of which side the drive belt was on, just that the belt was on!
    The worst ting about it is the heat off the engine on hot days (but it is handy on the cold days for keeping warm) and the buzz from the handle bars. I guess they can't be that bad as I am still riding the bike.
    I replaced the standard screen as it was too short. 200 miles out of a full tank, the best was 85mpg, usually 65 to 70 mpg.

      Glad to hear you're still enjoying the ride. I agree about the heat and vibration. I've gone back to my vfr1200f. Be well and thanks for watching.

    Great reviews, I've been watching older content on your channel for a while and I was searching for an F800gt when this was posted so I wanted to say thanks for the honest review.
    Also, I'm in for $1500. I know that's low compared to the market, but I have a large shipping cost to account for as well. Thanks again for the videos!

    For me, my 2013 is the perfect bike. Has BMW comfort seat, Vstream sport touring windscreen, not overly tall, looks nicer. Leo Vince slip on. I don’t do real long distance trips. Perfect in between a full touring and a sport bike. Handles great, plenty fast in my opinion.

      There is a white one on the local market and ot looks great.

    Fatal flaw : interestingly enough, my wife as a passenger feels the F800GT is the bike with the least vibration she has sat on (incl. a 4 cyl. Honda ST1100).

    As a 6 months owner I appreciate your review, but would like to stress the heat problem, on both sides expecially in a warm environment, it's a serious issue even after 10-15 minutes from engine's start. I have the withe version, it looks great with stock fairing, and dash visibility is quite good. Another thing I've found is that DIY maitenance takes longer time compared to other bikes because of the multple layers of fairings to unmounto in order to arrive to air filter. I'll keep it and try to solve the heat problem with a homemade air duct.Thanks

    • @pegasusmotorcycletours
      @pegasusmotorcycletours  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for that. Did I me turn the heat in my review because I definitely Italy filmed it and wanted to stress it?

    I have the same bike in Valencia Orange (same color that was available on the 2011 BMW 1M) along with the stock windscreen and the factory comfort seat. It's a good all around bike, but nothing that stands out as superlative. I had the same issue with the black plastics, especially up front. The next time I have it apart I'll either respray them with black paint, or use a heat gun. In the meantime I used a plastic reconditioner with black dye (Hybrid Solutions with Graphene) and it has helped quite a bit. I don't have an issue with the saddlebags, but then again I don't lane split much. My bags have held up well, but if I keep the bike for many more years, I'll probably have the shells wrapped in color-matched vinyl. The heat, yeah it's unpleasant, especially when the triple digits hit, but nice on colder morning runs to work. The vibrations aren't too bad, but I can see how it would be a negative for some people. Thanks for the great write up!

      Gorgeous color. Brings so much out of the bike esthetically.

    I found your review a little confusing, you spent a lot of time talking about the rear wheel, the third party screen and seat and the BMW ownership experience. The third party kit has nothing to do with BMW, so should really be omitted and as a person who has owned and experienced BMW dealers in the past, should also have been omitted. You spoke very little about the riding experience and contradicted yourself by saying it was a throwaway bike then said it was great Bavarian Engineering. I've owned one for 5 years and love it. Put in premium petrol and the vibrations calm down - especially at higher RPM. Also, use the top the rev range with the gear box and it's a very entertaining ride. For context, I also have a number of other bikes including a Daytona 955i and r1200RT LE.

    • @pegasusmotorcycletours
      @pegasusmotorcycletours  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for sharing. I have to respectfully correct you in that nowhere have I said it was a throwaway bike. I just claim that its bland overall with notocable vibration and the negatives of service requirements and visits to the dealer. When I speak of accessories I am describing option available for the bike. Andof you are a former dealer than your stance will be different from that of the consumer or owner, clearly. I'm happy to hear you are a satisfied owner - I have nothing more to add to my take on the bike and I thank you for participating in the conversation.

    It could be weight distribution with the exhaust and brakes on the opposite side of the belt drive system

    I've been shopping for this bike on FB Marketplace. Only to find this video while researching. Turns out, I've been looking to buy your bike haha.

    I just looking for a gt with low weight and found this model, but a lot of people speak about two contras: one the vibrations which you mentioned. Other one is the way of how the power is delivered, they say it makes the moto not enjoyable.
    Also I'm looking for the suzuki gsx-s 1000 gt. Just only 10 kg heavier

    • @pegasusmotorcycletours
      @pegasusmotorcycletours  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't have experience with the new suzuki but have never been disappointed before its going to be a more spirited ride though considering it's a liter.

    Who cares about side of belt? Missing the most important thing, handling. 213 kg wet ! With torque almost 90NM at 5800 rpm no one can offer even today on the market. Vibrations ... but effect ? Fuel economy is 50% of vfr 800 on high revs. Vfr is heavier, less torque, high fuel consumption and chain... I thing f800gt after 2017 is best sport touring allrounder for touring, because no one can offer so low weight, high torque and belt free maitenance. Rotax made fantastic job. For mountain roads perfect.

    • @pegasusmotorcycletours
      @pegasusmotorcycletours  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is nible but my vfr was a more sport ride. I do find the belt unattractive to look at. And the vibrations are a deal breaker for me. And apparently tlymany others judging from thecomment section.

  • @Plasmo20
    @Plasmo20 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Dam. I am just selling out on my long time F800S due to the vibration and into an F800GT because when I rode it the vibration is way less. Your'e saying the FGT has a bad vibration and its a deal breaker? FFS. Back to experimenting with bar end weights then.

      Or maybe because GS is too high for a short guy, and is too large for city traffic jams, amd has toomich displacement for cost of insira ce, qnd the problems caused by shaft transmission are consideredtoo manu and they keep the bike stopped for a quite long time .
