  • My first ever kiln opening video on You Tube! I am Starlynn of SoulHaven Pottery and I make one-of-a-kind, artisan pottery designed to make your soul happy. So, I hope you enjoy this video and learn something along the way! I am not at all tech savvy so, be nice to this old woman ;)
    SouHaven Pottery is a small-batch artisan pottery studio that focuses on creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces designed to make your soul happy :) enjoy!!
    NOTES: First mug is my "Mystery Glaze" inside and outside is Ancient Jasper by Amaco with the Mystery glaze over the AJ! It was taking too much time to look for that one so I edited it out

    Can't get enough of your textured handbuilt pieces. I'd love to watch a video of how you attach the textured base of those mugs...I admire how smoothe the connection is...mine are chunky and rough.. well done love the dragon's eye and fairy Rose glaze combination.

    Hi Starlynn! Welcome to the TH-cam world! Your video was fine. Congrats on a great kiln opening! I think there's a setting on your camera where you can turn off the auto-focus. That may help you. You'll still need to manually adjust for close-ups...or edit them in later...but once you focus it will stay at that focal point. I've subscribed, and am looking forward to more content! Keep 'em coming!

    Hi Starlynn! Welcome to the fantastic 'Potters-on-You-tube' community! No need to be nervous, just be you, and have fun with it. The rest you will learn along the way, just like pottery. Maybe turn off auto focus on your camera? I am not that tech savvy either, lol. Great kiln opening, I've subscribed and am looking forward to more! Happy Potting, Monique

I think I will try a different vantage point next video and see how it works :). It's a journey, right? Thanks for watching and subscribing!!

    Hi there can you tell me what you did not rehydrate the dried up glazes please? Thx.

    • @SoulHavenPottery-gt2gf
      @SoulHavenPottery-gt2gf  ปีที่แล้ว

      @denisejohn4589, You mean how did I do it? I put all the dried glaze out of almost empty glaze bottles (they had dried out) into a jar…multiple glazes but they were all stable Amaco glazes. Just squeeze the plastic bottles and shake them and the dried glaze will come off the sides. Pour all the pieces into a jar and add some water to cover 1/2 way up the dried glaze. Wait. Stir and shake. Add more water and wait some more. Add more water to desired consistency. Then stir it up and brush it on your pieces. It will be a test! So use cookies under your pieces in case the glaze runs a lot😉

      🥰Thank you so much…I have a website-in maintenance mode now-I haven’t been good at keeping up with it! I also work full time as a nurse and should be going part time soon so I can focus more on the “business” part of the pottery. When I get it together and have a shop update/sale I’ll post that and if you are in Los Angeles, I have applied to be at the Beverly Hills Art Show this May!

    So fun to watch! I’m right at the point that this video is perfect- trying to learn about different combos! You may have said, but was this to come 5 or 6, and if just 5, what is your process in deciding 5 or 6?

    • @SoulHavenPottery-gt2gf
      @SoulHavenPottery-gt2gf  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! thank you! I usually program for cone 5. Because my kiln is fairly new so it fires a little hotter to usually 5-6 even if prog to 5! If I have a lot of glazes I want to melt and run, like the peacock technique, I will program a cone 6. I use cones so I know if parts of my kiln fire hotter so I can also put more pots on that level that I want to run more or put pots on cooler levels that I know run a little anyway, even at cone 5, so I don’t want them to get too hot and run too much and stick to the shelf! This is a lot of info! Let me know if it makes sense-I just woke up😁-or if you have any questions👌
