I am glad you liked it. 😊 Can you please tell me in brief how dapsone is helping you manage pyoderma gangrenosum? And what really you liked about the video? No pressure, only if you want to. There may be other patients who may benefit from your story. 😊
Sir, All your videos are very much helpful for PG residents to easily understand drugs and concepts in dermatology. Thank you for initiating these educational videos. What is the cause for drop in Hb in the first month of starting Dapsone in patients with normal G6PD?
I am happy that you are finding these videos helpful. ☺️☺️ G6pd can be normal if the reticulocyte count is high. Dapsone can still cause hemolysis. Normal g6pd just ensure that the cells would be able to handle that. But the hemolysis can be severe such that normal g6pd may not be able to handle that. That's why it's important to look at CBC for hemolysis.

That is a good question. Although for safety purposes, its a good idea to do G6PD before giving dapsone for any indication. But in a resource constraint setting, you may give few doses of dapsone and look at the CBC. See if there is any picture of hemolytic anaemia. If the anemia is severe, then you may consider stopping dapsone. G6PD really helps in determining the chances of having hemolytic anaemia, but as I have said in the video, the levels could be phenotypically and genotypically variable. So if you can do, get it done. If not, then look at the CBC for its side effects.
Surely. The pathomechanism of AD is quite complex to say the least. Since it takes a lot of time to make these detailed videos, I want to research and then provide extensive information. I will make a video on your suggestions. Stay tuned please 😊😊
That's a good question. Sickling test positive means the patient is having sickle cell trait. Dapsone should be avoided in all cases of disorders which may lead to hemolysis.

Do we need to routinely check G6PD for all patients started on Dapsone?

sir any references on whether NLEP mandates G6PD testing before starting MDT, and if it doesn't then why so?
Sir need rituximab videos🙏🙏🙏
