When I do a repair like this, I usually sand, primer, base coat the repair area, then clear coat the entire panel so it’s a seamless finish and no clear coat to blend. Far easier to blend base coat, then clear coat.. I tried it and always ended up with a slight edge where you can see the transition. Clear coating the entire panels then a complete compound and polish on the adjacent panels it all looks factory
Brian nice repair. I love to see amature painting, and the results were great. Would you share where you got your paint and clear coat products? Also, are you concerned with the vapors in the clear coat? I hear they can be very bad for your lungs. At least when I tried on my car with the 2k clear coat can by spraymax. Thanks for your great videos. I want to tackle the roof and hood on my 2005 Avalon, but not feeling quite confident yet Also, what about overspray on the rest of the car, or the car immediately next to you? When I tried in my garage, it went everywhere and I thought I did a pretty good job masking
@@jonwinship9099 I am french so I am very likely using the wrong term here. I am talking about the masks with filter cartridges that need to be changed after a day or two of use. That is what we use around here for painting cars.
Please take it to professional body shop, it's going to peel off 100%, not tomorrow but couple month later for sure. You can't blend within the panel on dark colors, prep wasn't done right either. Not trying to be a smart ass, but after all these years of your professional approach to things you do- this looks like a wrong turn.
Would you like me to capture footage of wet sanding and polishing the area to finish up before replacing the badging?
Yes please!
Yes !
Sure

Wow! With using proper technique and patience, you did an amazing job!! 👍🏻🇨🇦

Really cool video and a great tool but the shop to have. I always learn from your sanding and polishing.
It’s looking good Brian. Nice to see someone taking the time to do it right.👍
Well done! You weren't lazy nor in a hurry.
Nice
Looks good looking forward to seeing the rest of the job!! Thanks Brian!!
Nice and of course
Thanks Brian 😁👍
Definitely want to see the entire process. Do you think you could achieve the same results with aerosol cans? Thank you for your time.
Cans produce crazy texture.....for me anyway.
Brother, I love these videos. You’re helping us go to the next level.
I’ve been wanting to know how to do this 🎉
I will get more footage.

All vapors can be. I have a rebreather I use when not doing videos. I get my paint from a local body shop supply store
Nice work… what primer did you use? Are you planning to repair any paint chips? Thanks for all the great content!!
Limco Primer and Sealer. There are some scratches into the metal I need to address.
Brian, you should be wearing a painting mask when spraying clear coat. That stuff is really nasty and can have lasting health effects!
A respirator would be better

That looks like it makes a big mess.

Wanna bet? Not trying to be a smart-ass....but name it. I will be maintaining this vehicle....so I can prove it regularly.
I'd bet on Brian. Plus he's not even done with the process either.
