This series is very much appreciated! Some episodes I've watched several times. Other episodes maybe weren't interesting at the time, but are now. For example, I started with a gamepad, so I didn't pay much attention to the FFB episode. Since then I've bought a wheel and obviously watched the FFB episode with great interest. It's a massive library of high quality content that really has helped be evolve and enjoy Project CARS 2 more, so cheers!
Hate being used as a brake in the first turns :( Happens so often, as i qualify 5-10th ish most often in PuGs, but glad i joined the GZR community.. Much more fair racing and common sense!
Thanks for your videos and effort. I wish your tips could have been integrated into the game as a racing school with practicing lessons kind of like some other sims. There are so many variables to adjust in PC that it's a shame they don't teach you how to use them propely
Wow the graphics in this video look way better than I have them on my PC and they also look less demanding? On what are you graphical settings? or will you ever make a video about that section of the game?
The game isn't that demanding at all. Run it maxed out with a GTX1070 with vsync at 144fps. Unless you use supersampling as AA that's really demanding but gives you the best image quality.
I’m gonna continue the engine temp conversation on this because it’s a later video. Anyway does my Engine braking have something to do with my engine temp rising, I have my Radiator opening on 85%, my Engine braking on 2 and my Air Restrictor on 80.10mm (highest it can go for the v8 supercar)
It could very well do, and I imagine it does however I haven't actually tested to see if there is a direct link. It certainly makes sense that having more aggressive engine braking would impact engine temperatures by causing it to hold its temperature a bit more rather than let it drop when off throttle. Air Restrictor I've not ever changed from the max value, as there is no need for it to be lowered pretty much ever.
If the penalty system worked better at penalizing "rammers" , it would help. 2nd clip was in a league situation with people who respect each other and racing etiquette, try doing that in a random online lobby and see how it is for real..
Coming up with a blame system is extremely difficult. The variation of differing scenarios you come across in racing makes coming up with a blame system extremely difficult. At least to appoint the blame to the correct person consistently when pretty much every scenario that can be thought up, can have the blame go either way depending on what they were doing. That was the reason why the decision was made so that both drivers involved in an incident get penalty points, so its consistent. And yeah the second clip was in a league situation, but the first clip was in a random online lobby yet people even respected each other there too. What I was mainly trying to explain in the video is that there is some power in your own hands to avoid them and help people try to change their approach to the first lap, as even non-rammers can be too aggressive at the start.
Ok..that's a strategy for multiplayer/onlinerace. But if you driving offline against AI it's often a horror in the first and second round. As everybody know the AI is stupid as bread.....so you must have a lot of luck to not fire off the enemies in the first meters. I have mentioned that especially Brno in PC2 the AI cause at the start a mass crash. Doesn't matter if the aggressively is at for example 20 or 0!!!! What is here your recommendation?
Treat them like an online lobby and you're racing against other drivers. If you treat them like AI from other games, you're going to get bumped around a fair amount. If you actually treat them like other players and only go for gaps where you have an actual move on rather than sending it and hope they avoid you, you're going to have a much better racing experience. As you say though, there are cases where contact is pretty much unavoidable. Your best bet is to try and find space and balance going into a corner aggressive but be prepared to be slow on the exit as the AI does check up against each other.
that's all well and good but when you have people in the lobby who act like torpedoes and think they can go from p12 to p1 on turn one, then you end up just a spectator as you get punted and spun out regardless of how careful you are as a driver
Sometimes yeah, there is nothing you can do to avoid them, but a lot of the times there are. That was what this video was about in highlighting that there is power in your hands to avoid them too. Just because you shouldn't have to move out the way or avoid an obvious rammer, it doesn't mean that you can't.
No, its using TrackIR 5 which is a head tracking device. You get the same head movement and tracking as VR, but I'm looking at my monitor still so the head movement isn't 1:1. About 30 degrees of my head movement is 90 degrees of head movement in-game. It works nicely in the sense that I have the head tracking and can look around, but can still use all the buttons on my wheel, keyboard and mouse easily as I don't have a monitor and surround a couple of inches from my eyes blocking my vision of my surroundings.

As always.. great video Yorkie! Thank you for continuing to put these out!

This was a nice interesting vid, if only everyone watched it and adhered to the T1 etiquette!
Thank you for the video!
Thanks again :)
Very nice.

Are you using TrackIR?
I am indeed

Is that VR gameplay?

Alright. Yeah, I know head tracking. Thanks for replying that quickly though.
