Hey David, I'm a huge fan of your Legend Of Reason series. I can't wait for your next book to come out. Personally I would love to see the series on the big screen. I truthfully think that it could be a real hit.
Well thank you very much! I would absolutely love to have the series picked up for a movie or TV series. I have tried in the past to get the trailers in front of the Hollywood types, but I'm afraid they just won't give me the time of day. I even have a few "ins" in Hollywood. I am good friends with Bruce Willis's double, and I also know the fight coordinator for Gladiator and the Blade movies. I worked with both of them on my book trailer for Blood and Bronze, and that trailer is even listed on IMDB as a short film. But alas, unless I win the Mega Millions and fund it myself, it doesn't look like Hollywood will look my way any time soon.
I don't want to to get any hopes high, including my own. But my family is friends with a few people in the movie business. I am going to try to contact a friend that writes the scripts for some movies and TV shows. I'm hoping for the best.
TH-cam has apparently made some STUPID changes, making it very difficult for me to find and answer your comments. I am trying to figure things out so please be patient.
So glad I've found your clip. Been wanting to make a gauntlet for a long time but had no idea of the process. Seems daunting at first but once you split it up in separate steps it seems pretty straightforward. I can practice using bunch of old pans and other stuff before shelling out for better quality steel.
Looks like I'm going to need to invest in some hammers, an anvil, some brakes, clamps and vises, and a bunch of other stuff... ... Unless, of course, you offer completed gauntlets for sale...
if you'd actually be willing to get an anvil you'll never find a better price than at harbor freight it's basically the ross dress for less of tool stores like same weight anvil is $200 on other websites
It appears TH-cam has removed the Inbox feature, so I can't read your message. But my files are now encoded. I can trace back any files illegally sold back to the original. And yes, he/she will be charged for any downloads they have distributed.
David Guyton No, it still works. But I have to admit, I cant find my inbox folder on the youtube site neither. But you will receive an email/notification. From there you can access your inbox. OR enter NextLevelInnovation on FB.
David Guyton Hope you mean LASER-GADGETS and not nextlevelcrap. Drop me an email via website. He is showing your gauntlet and a few others things, not sure who made them. Not him for sure.
Also, despite the fact that I have never (and probably will never) built armor, this seems like a very detailed and well-made tutorial. Props for being thorough and for encouraging safety!
The moronic TH-cam comment system is now telling me I cannot reply to comments. --- PHILIP EGAN --- Because during the filming I had to make changes. The parts you see in the video are shown before the final fitment and assembly. If I tried to assemble it like they appeared on the table in the video, the articulation would be horrible.
David Guyton I'd really like to see the inside view of that thing. You know, like a view of the inner arm. The outside looks great. Just want to see underneath it, and the fastening system you have going. Thanks
No you do not have to pay for a template. You can use all the information I give in my videos and make your own template completely for free. If you want your project to go easier, you can pay a few dollars to save you a lot of work. You'll probably learn a lot more coming up with your own design though so I suggest you not buy a template.
El-Em-En-Oh For the kids like you that want to build this, you can buy a visa gift card for a couple of bucks, and $5 for a kid isn't that hard to find
This is mesmerizing. I need to get myself an anvil. And a ball-peen hammer. And most of the other tools. And the talent and expertise to pull any of this off.

A Winter Soldier sleeve would be incredible... My next project will be the Iron Man gauntlet in one of your other videos! Keep up the great work, Brah!
im not sure if you know me from a different one of your gauntlet vids but... i rewatched ZNA production's gauntlet vid and he said "madsivley bassed off of David Guyton's gauntled video's." so sorry for doubting the video and i hope that i could just be accepted as a big mystake and i apologize for doubting you.
+David Guyton at first i didnt see the while gauntlet ispirated by thing. So i just thought i would apologize. edit- also brass is a good starting metal to test your gauntlet work
Yeah I get that, I just meant if you had made any. Like a quick video showcasing them. But to see a tutorial in the future would be awesome too. But yeah, that would be very time consuming. I completely understand.
The trim I put around the edge is the same basic shape as the rest of the vambrace, and just riveted on (so it is two layers). Yes I used sandpaper and a scotchbrite pad to sand the surface and give it a brushed look. It will also hide any scratches from the building process, and help to hide future scratches as well. Just be sure to sand in the same direction for each part.
a female welder! Glad to see you smashing stereotypes! To answer your question, yes, you can scale it down with your printer or with a photocopier after printing. A guy did this to make one for his son and it came out perfect. You can also just cut the pieces a little smaller instead of scaling down. Probably easiest to just scale down though. You can comment, PM or email me if you need any help
I don't have a link for these exact gloves, as I bought them in a motorcycle shop. Also, TH-cam won't allow me to post links in the comments section. But, Walmart sells Thinsulate brand leather gloves for about $13. Any leather glove that fits your hand will work fine. I suggest NOT using thick gloves like the kind a construction worker would wear though
It appears that Google/TH-cam has made some changes to the comments options. Give it a day or two and see if you are able to do it. It used to be an option right under the comments box that you type into, but it appears it is gone now.
The process is the same for a paper gauntlet, as far as the cutting and shaping is concerned. Getting the paper to hold its shape and getting the parts to attach together is the hard part. I only make paper gauntlets to figure out how to make them in metal.
Not quite sure I understand. If you cover the underside of the wrist articulation will be horrible. It's POSSIBLE, but add all that metal to all the existing metal plates would be really difficult and everything would get in the way
Sometimes comments get marked as spam for no apparent reason. I assume some viewers do it...I don't mark comments as spam. If comments are offensive, i will delete them but that's all I do. I may be doing sabatons soon
no, there's nothing folded over. There's just a trim piece at the outer edge that I riveted on with copper rivets. The metal is doubled up there, but it's not that thick. The template explains how to do this in the instructions
plastic, paper with resin, fiberglass...whatever you like. I only know how to do them in metal though, so if you want tips on using other materials you will need to look at some other tutorials
Template prints out to 5 pages I think, so you'll need about that much in metal. Rivets were 1/2" and 3/4" inch, I think. Any size rivets should work though. I think the copper rod was 1/4"
these are motorcycle riding gloves I got for about $25 at a motorcycle store. You can get similar style gloves at Walmart for about $13. Thinsulate it the brand name
I used the copper rod because it is larger and would look better. It also allowed me to make rivets that had a hammered texture. You could use the rapid rivets, sure. And for the bone structure, you could try putting a ball peen hammer in a vise and using it as an anvil (see my Version 2 tutorial where I use this method)
The board is marked so that the hole can be lined up with the markings for the knuckles. The center of the knuckle is to be lined up with the center of the hole in the board. The hole is for the metal to bulge out into as you hammer it, raising the knuckles from the underside.
You can find regular steel at Home Depot, but not stainless steel or brass. I have no plans to do a complete suit but I will be adding armor tutorials as often as I can
the lack of symmetry is intentional. It makes it easier to move your hands when they are properly adapted to the human form. The template will print out for a left gauntlet...for the right, just flip the pieces over
ATTENTION! If you have questions for me to answer, please comment on the actual TH-cam page of the video. For some reason when you comment on my videos that are shared on Google+, I am unable to answer.
U need to have a Google Profile to answer it on Google plus ^^ And awesome work! realy impressing me! are u a blacksmith? or did u learn another job related to metall? so or so, very damn awesome done!!!
I do have Google+. There are still glitches in their system. And actually, no, I am an author. This gauntlet was my first time trying to work with metal.
I don't have time to make armor to sell. I just make tutorials. Do a search for a TH-camr named Jordan Tanner. He sells my design and he also has a few designs of his own
Just make sure the hole size is slightly bigger than the rivet you choose. I don't remember the sizes of rivets I used, but I think they were 3/4" and 1/2" (they shrink significantly once you crimp or hammer them together). Yes you can use traditional rivets, which will actually be much stronger, but more difficult to attach to the glove. See my Version 2 gauntlet video to see how I make real rivets from nails.
Thanks, glad to be of help! I am working on more armor videos, yes. I get a lot of requests for a helmet. Trying to come up with a way to do it without welding.
Great Vvideo, now i i could just have sound, schools computers are not understaning my desire for sound when watching videos :P and have no internet at home so that could be a challenge, but this will help alot with the making of my Mordekaiser costume. I have never done a cosplay armor before, though i've done lots of research, and i don't mind it taking lots of time :) it's not fun if it's to easy ;) Great work!
haha...it still shows you how to make a tutorial too. Just do what I did! (It's actually titled that way on order to come up higher in the TH-cam search results)
i was wondering but maybe you should do the armor for the knight in Makai Knights. Look it up and watch it . If you need more info tell me. But this is great i got totally inspired to try maybe the paper one first before i go onto steal. Then again if you are open to suggestions Please do Makai Knights. Or even look up makai kishi. Its a japanese knight story .. thought you might like the challenge of the golden knight armor or maybe even the white and black armor. It'll be pretty amazing if you do get to this ! Thanks and your so cool.
I would just place the parts on the glove without riveting at first, and then mark the glove with a pen so that you know where to poke holes through the glove for the rivets. You may find you need to trim some pieces to fit your hand perfectly, however this gauntlet is not ultra-precise, and it should fit your hand fairly well without any modification.
This was actually my first time ever attempting anything in metal. I don't do much armoring...what you see in my tutorials is all I have made. Anyone can do this if they put the time in
LET'S TRY AN EXPERIMENT. +1 this comment if you hate TH-cam's new comment system.

Because it's about 1/3 the cost of brass, and it's stronger and much easier to find. You can certainly do it in brass though if you really want to.
Drill size has to be determined by you. Just use a size that is slightly larger than the rivets you buy (or make). There's no exact size for it.

Great Vvideo, now i i could just have sound, schools computers are not understaning my desire for sound when watching videos :P and have no internet at home so that could be a challenge, but this will help alot with the making of my Mordekaiser costume.
I have never done a cosplay armor before, though i've done lots of research, and i don't mind it taking lots of time :) it's not fun if it's to easy ;)
Great work!
I am the author of the Legend of Reason Series (fantasy novels). Book one is Mighty Hammer Down, and is free everywhere in ebook format
haha...it still shows you how to make a tutorial too.
2010!!! wow, I missed this one... Nice job David! You show us the art is not totally lost
just paper? An hour or two, I guess.
Only not nearly as handsome or rich
I would just place the parts on the glove without riveting at first, and then mark the glove with a pen so that you know where to poke holes through the glove for the rivets. You may find you need to trim some pieces to fit your hand perfectly, however this gauntlet is not ultra-precise, and it should fit your hand fairly well without any modification.
It's not huh? Make your own then.
took me about 3 weeks to create.
This was actually my first time ever attempting anything in metal. I don't do much armoring...what you see in my tutorials is all I have made. Anyone can do this if they put the time in
well thank you very much!
No time to do a full suit
think you can make a infinity gauntlet Glove the one Thanos Wear on the avengers infinity war trailer that would be awesome if you made one
I plan to make the Infinity Gauntlet, yes
فورعي
It teaches you that too.
my question is why do 3.68 million people want to know how to make a guantlet
how to make a gauntlet, how to draw a gauntlet, what's te difference
the real question is- why not
