    Happy New Year Rob!
    As a U.S.P.S. Clerk I carry a blade daily cutting shrink wrap, plastic straps, shrink wrap ect. Not being very educated about blades I had a few Walmart knives the last few years a Gerber and currently a Kershaw leek. I found your channel about a month ago when I went looking to sharpen my knife. I think you make great videos and your opinions and reviews are honest and trustworthy.
    my only gripe is now I'm impatiently waiting on a used large Sebenza 21 regular blade with carbon fiber inlays, should be quite an upgrade from my leek. Looking forward to sending it to you for a proper edge next week. Keep up all the good work you do here and with your ministry thank-you.

      +Sam Conover Thanks, Sam! Glad to hear from you. BTW, I use the good old USPS exclusively for my shipments. You're batting 1.000 in getting knives home safely, over 2,000 times in the past 3 years. Not so for my customers sending knives to me using the other guys. The Post Office rocks!!!

    Hi Rob, been off line for a while, travelling a bit. Anyway this is the first vid I have watched for a while. I must be influenced by you over these past 3 yrs, as I carry 4 off the knives on your list, its strange as I actually rotate my para 2 with my endura blue steel more often this past year. Just bought a couple of Barlows, which you have sharpened recently, so I will be sporting a Northfield madison on a regular basis as well. Off course in the UK the only knife I AM LEGAL TO CARRY ON THE STREETS is my grinlling, but I am blessed by being far from the madding crowd most of my time. My 940 is my favourite knife of all time brother, my 21 is next. Your the man Rob, be back in touch with civilisation soon. Oh and always a small wenger pocket pal in my wallet, razor sharp. God bless all in 2016.

    One minute into this video I finally un-stuck that damned Griptilian thumb stud I told you about awhile back. I broke two T-6 drivers doing it. Someone REALLY cranked that thing down. I suspect your new video granted me the power! Happy New Year, sir!

    Happy New Year, Rob. I have the superblue Stretch and I just love that knife. I recently purchased an Endura HAP 40 and I'm really liking that. It may just push that Stretch out of my pocket.

    happy new to you. loved your video this year will be looking at traditional folders for collection and carry. i too love the 940 the cadet (which i gave to my Son). the spyderco was a bit a a surprise but understand you view thought that the use of the knife for a fellow lefty closing the knife would be a bit off but never owned a mid lock knife but always held back for that reason.

    Hi Rob, Happy New Year Brother!
    Great to touch base, albeit via social mediaI've been "working" pretty much straight through the last three weeks.
    Spot on with the selection my friend, my "rotation" is surprisingly similar notwithstanding my "work tools"
    Have a Good One!
    Grace and Peace,

    All winners! Great to hear about the Endura and a nice surprise that it overtook the PM2 for 2015.
    140-nothing : )
    Agree 100%, no point in carrying around a dull knife.

    I've had my 940 Osborne for about a year and a half. It's the only knife I've carried daily and I've loved it ever since I got it. Sounds like I got lucky buying off of Amazon because mine is perfect. I will probably buy something else soon just to change it up, but it has served me well.

    Great video, and fun! Great knife choices & good reasons for those choices. I also found that interesting ( although not too surprising ) that Nut'n noted how many guys were walkin' around with dull blades. I can't speak for any of the super steels, as I've no experience with them, but don't most knife guys know by now, that by allowing their conventional steel knives to get rather dull, they are drastically shortening the service life of that knife? A knife in need of a major sharpening means steel MUST be removed, each & every time. Whereas frequent touch ups on a strop ( or a mild honing on a fine black/hard Arkansas stone ) lessons the frequency of true sharpenings, resulting in much longer blade life. Don't those guys pay any attention to videos like yours? I will forever be impressed with your older video about chopping that dead tree down in your back yard, as I was AMAZED at how you brought that big 'ole 1095 blade back to phone book paper sharp with only a stropping! After chopping HALF A TREE DOWN.........I never woulda guessed that a strop was all it needed in a million years! ( Nobody can say THAT blade didn't receive a spot-on heat treat!!! )

    How are you able to perform the middle-finger 'Spidy Flick' on your Endura? I have the ZDP189 and HAP40 (sprint run) Endura's and I can only just flick them open with my thumb. Excellent vid as usual Rob. God bless mate..

    Two years ago the PM2 & SR-1 were on your top three EDC knives list, with the 940. I wasn't surprised the Lion Steel missed your top 5 list in 2015, but was shocked the PM-2 missed the top 5. Would love to see your top ten modern and traditional knives sometime. Also, the Victorinox Cadet would be the perfect EDC knife/multitool if it had scissors, instead of the file.

    Greetings fellow leftie, I enjoy your videos and respect your opinion. I am looking to purchase my first sebenza 21 and would like to know if you recommend the plain or inlaid handles. I am indifferent to the aesthetic value and only interested in ergonomics. Thank you,

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Roy Jones I do think the micarta inlays aid the ergonomics of the handle. They give it a more hand-filling feel, and better grip. They do make the knife a little more intrusive in the pocket however. I find myself carrying my inlaid Sebs more than my plain handled one though. Hope that helps!

    I agree on the cadet. In my pocket all the time. It is the solution to many needs. Fixing a hockey helmet, slicing an apple, just two things I did with mine today. . You get it, quality, useful, right size for my pocket. I really like your lanyard, need to fashion something like that for mine.

  • @kennyplatt1235
    @kennyplatt1235 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    My most carried knife of 2015 was a 940 as well, it's just so good for its size and weight that it's hard not to put it in the pocket! My most carrier knife of 2016 however will probably be my new 551-1. You should try and get your hands on one, it is fantastic. The CPM-20CV is easy to sharpen and holds an edge longer than S30V, and it's only very slightly heavier than a regular Griptilian, and slightly thinner. The action and lockup on mine is perfection, but that varies quite a bit, unfortunately, from knife to knife with Benchmades.

    I had a 940 about 8 months ago it was off centered and one of the Omega Springs broke just from playing with it. so I sent it back got it one month later they actually forgot about it believe it or not. had tons of blade play and the blade was scratching up against the handle it was so off centered. sent it back again came back perfect, and I loved it but I was so mad at that point I sold it... great knife though, when there is no problems.
