    The brush strokes with the Artis are there because the brush is dirty. Maybe change soaps, even dish soaps, dawn will clean it, i saw on the site that you can use a little bit of Dawn. If my artis brush is dirty, it will be streaky, no way around it. DYou can also sprit some alcohol on them and wipe them on a microfibre cloth after each use if you don’t have their mousse. It was recommended by the artis ppl.

      I love testing dupes!! I've got a new one to film - spoiler alert, I'm pretty sure the Flower Beauty powder is a dupe for my favorite Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish. I want to test it a few more times.

    You can get the Artis brush clean if you use ordinary soap...the old-fashioned bar kind! Just moisten, work up a lather, then work it in and rinse off. And it will come up clean. I have one for my foundation and was a little miffed to see that happen, but good ol' soap works a treat. xx

    • @goow

    I love oval brushes I just got to try out a set from fantcen they are so good I need to pick up the real techniques one for sure I like how big it is and that it's domed

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm finding it to be a nice size. That dupe I got on Amazon from La Legure is similar but larger - and almost too large. The RT brush is a nice in-between size on the larger end of the scale.

    I've been waiting for this review! I saw the Real Techniques brushes at Ulta a week or so ago. I bought my first (starter) paddle brush about a month ago from Sally Beauty Supply for $13.00. It's a little bit smaller that these brushes and is more of a teardrop shape. The pointed end is easy to get into the inner corners of my eyes and around my nose.

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first dupe I looked at here was the O WOW brush on Amazon - similar, teardrop with the pointed end. I like it but it's a little too small for all-over foundation. Not sure if that's the same as the one at Sally.

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what the O WOW brush looks like but mine is def smaller than yours in the video. The head is 1-1/2" long and 1" wide at the widest point. The brand on the handle is "face secrets". It suits my needs but I don't use a brush for foundation application nearly as often as I use my beauty sponges. Love my Ulta and Real Techniques sponges! :) Have you tried hydrogen peroxide to clean your handle? Rubbing alcohol might work as well.

    I have yet to see a review that demonstrates to me that those Artis brushes are significantly better than other paddle blushes that cost less. The other thing I notice is that not too many youtubers are using them routinely on makeup application videos now that the initial craze died down. That RT brush looks pretty bulky to me. I don’t know. Once in a while I use that paddle brush that came in my Boxycharm, and it works just fine. Interesting comparison here though.

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do love that one from Boxycharm - it's a Crown brush! The RT definitely has some weight and bulk... I'm guessing intentionally, as none of my other paddle brushes have quite so much heft to them. May have been a conscious design choice for those that want a substantial feeling brush.

    • @JJamiah
      @JJamiah 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      as a person who has bought the cheaper artis brushes and have bought now the Oval 8, Oval 7, Oval 6 and Oval 4, they don't compare at all. They soak up my expensive Lancôme and MUFE foundation. I use one pump and I get full coverage. While the craze died because they are ridiculously expensive and not for everyone, the quality of the brush did now. it is all on what you want to spend. I did buy the Real Techniques foundation blend and blurr, and it sucked up my formula. It was very good, but Artis still ranked top and I returned the RT brush.

    Very nice review on the brushes, I was thinking of getting the Artis brush too to compare of some I have. I even find some of those oval brushes in TJ Maxx, thanks for sharing have a good day :) love and blessings xoxo

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My TJ Maxx almost always has some oval brushes! I don't regret having the Artis brush... it's nice to feel fancy sometimes. And I like having it for comparison's sake. But it's definitely not a must-have considering how good the dupes are.

    Hi Shelly! Love this review! I was wondering about the RT brush. I'm going to get this RT. I don't have any Artis, but I just got the one from Jouer that came with the foundation. If you get the foundation alone, it's $38. The brush alone is $24 but if you get both as a set it's $45. I opted for both. Even though I can't compare it with the Artis, I think it works nicely! xo

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you like the Jouer foundation? My review will go up tomorrow, and... well I won't spoil it... but eeek.

  • @sweetox_9690
    @sweetox_9690 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't know if it's just because I find the Artis so much more luxurious and my brain is playing tricks, but it seemed to apply better than the RT. I'm probably just crazy 🙃

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it does spread foundation more evenly more quickly - I can do a full face faster in a lot of cases with the Artis. It's hard for me to see a difference in the end result... but my eyes are getting bad, too! :-D

    I still love the brush we got in our Boxycharm a few months back! What I'm super curious about are the oval/real technique brushes for eye makeup. Have you tried any of those? I'm also really curious about the new blue line from real techniques so I know what I'm asking for this Christmas ;-)

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a few of those eye ones (from that duo-chrome Moda kit that was at Walmart a while back - might still be there) but so far the eye brushes are just awkward on me!

  • @luxess6948
    @luxess6948 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    First and most important question is do these real technique brushes come with a pad and a cleaner?? Second, have you tried the brushcraft line of brushes that are at the same price point as the real technique? And if so what do you think of the 7 compared to the elite and the real technique? Also have you found some alternative cleansing pad cleansing foam for your brushes? And just to throw this out there if anybody got disgusted with the Becca it brush or one brush you can get the ecotools sculpting face and body brush for 1299 and it's a million times better

    • @goow
      @goow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought the brush by itself. I didn't see any options with cleaner, though the cleaner I have at home is the Real Techniques cleaner. I haven't tried anything from Brushcraft yet but I will look for them!

  • @651LYS

    • @goow
      @goow  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet they are. Almost every paddle brush I've tried has been totally fine, even up against the Artis. I love the Artis but I wouldn't buy it again just because others are so similar... unless I win the lottery or something! :)

  • @lovemyrainydays
    @lovemyrainydays 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmm... wondered about this since I saw it on their website last week when I was ordering a new expert face brush. Wish we Aussies got it at the US price equivalent though - that paddle brush you said was $20, for Aussies is $41 (which is about US $31.50)... but then my face brush was $17.25 (US $13.25) when for you it's under $10. The plain ole original complexion sponge - US $6, for us $12.30 (US $9.40). Plus there's shipping on top of that. Sucks big time. Back in the day I could order from the them and just pay the exchange equivalent rate but they've craftily changed that on their website and now the minute you say you need shipping to Oz, they shoot you over to our version of the site and the higher prices!! Still, at least it's cheaper than a local stockist (a Sephora/Ulta type store) where a single sponge is $17 & the expert face brush is $23 (US $13 & $17.60).

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow such a big difference!! I'm counting the days until I can go back to Ireland again because all of the makeup there is cheaper than in the US. But yowza, Australia! It's still #1 on my bucket list to visit Australia some day!

    • @lovemyrainydays
      @lovemyrainydays 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, living here in Oz has it's advantages, but being in North Queensland where the shopping is limited and expensive, and weird weather (floods & cyclones) and bothersome animals (poisonous snakes, spiders & jellyfish) abound are not 3 of them. LOL.

    • @goow

      The paddle brushes are my faves for foundation - though really all of my dupes apply it just as well. Some hold up to washing better than others. But otherwise I think it’s just preference in size, shape, weight etc.

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was watching their demo video and I'm wondering if they just assume concealer goes up around there and you'd use a different brush. But I do take my foundation up into "the concealer zone" so I like a brush that can get around the contours.

    • @JulesOfWisdom
      @JulesOfWisdom 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Geek Out of Water I see, but I still think I'll pass because you did such a good job of showing how bulbous the brush head is. I don't go into the undereye, but I do like to cover the side of my nose near the inner eye corner. I have some dupes from the reseller Ross and for now I'll stick with them. Of course we never know what's on the horizon. 🌈💸😂

  • @gretchentaylor4402
    @gretchentaylor4402 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it a better finish than a real techniques sponge??

    • @goow
      @goow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't directly compare a sponge to a brush - mostly because they give totally different finishes just because they're different tools. I'd say quality-wise, they're equal. I get great longevity out of my RT sponges and the brush is holding up just as well. But whether one is better than the other depends on the foundation, since some foundations are better with a sponge or a brush.

  • @JJamiah
    @JJamiah 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Artis Brushes needed to be cleaned after each use. The brush didn't look clean when used and it will leave streaks if you don't clean it or have cleanser product build up inside of it.

    • @goow
      @goow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cleaned it prior to application, though the thumbnail photos and intro to the video were all filmed after I filmed the demo - so they're dirty in the intro but clean when I went to apply the product. That's as clean as my Artis gets; it's over a year old at this point.

    I bought my Artist Elite Collection mirror finish oval 6 foundation brush when it was offered in a 3 piece set at QVC and after about 3 months the neck of the foundation brush broke 😱I was so angry as it was so expensive .. please be careful expensive doesn’t always equal to quality

    • @goow
      @goow  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! I think I would go straight to Artis with a complaint! That is ridiculous! Honestly I like all of my dupes as much as the Artis. I keep it for comparisons like this but I wouldn't spend the money again. Wayne Goss brushes, on the other hand.... so worth it!
