I'm really enjoying the content in this game! Also maybe for Koopa the Quick, once you place him down, you can play as him and run to the destination, the game could then save the inputs and that would be the movement for him.
7:20 Hey it's me! This gets more and more phenomenal with each update. These updates also come out blazing fast, especially considering the amount of mind-blowing stuff is added with each update.
If only there was a way to make an actual castle for your paintings to be displayed in and entered like in the original Mario 64... But of course, that's a big ask if not just impossible. About the hack itself, it's coming along wonderfully! Can't wait for the full release!
Nice upgrades, been following along. Can’t wait for the release. This is the next big thing! Sounds like your invested in making this and I admire your passion.
Suggestion: make it so theres a mode where you can specifically place stuff (basically you can move without the restriction of the "block grid" and you can place block in specific spots) this doesnt apply to placing blocks(terrain) though
Not sure if this has already been implemented but it would be convenient if there was an option to playtest from anywhere in a level you're making. That way people can quickly test specific areas rather than start over every time.
This hack is looking incredible! I'm glad to see the inclusion of animated lava! I'm hoping there will also be animated water similar to the water in The Cursed Mirror (like waterfalls)
@@rovertronic Yooo dats awesome! Cuz now you could do like a Cosmic Cove themed level or like some kinda Super Mario Sunshine beach level or something IDK; Really glad to see you implementing all these cool features in the game!
One of the most incredible projects out there, you are doing one hell of a job, my man! I´m curious about one thing: even if it is in a distant future, how "portable" would be this project with the RE Mario 64 for PC?
(By the way, custom textures for that future “rom hack maker” would be cool, obviously that’s insanely far into the future and I’ll prob stick to RM, but this is still sick af
You could have a little cover-flow style gallery of paintings, or a Sonic Generations-style fancier interface with Mario running between paintings in an infinite hallway.
this looks so cool, only thing i can think of is maybe add some way to make more dynamic looking terrain, like maybe some sort of vertex editing system or more slope varieties? idk, rn it just looks like minecraft with the current block system
The width of blocks is fine, but I feel like you need more granularity on the vertical axis. Half blocks, shallow slopes. More precise heights for different levels of jumps.
Hello! This game looks fantastic, but there’s some things that I hope are added. . Semi-Solids or background blocks would be cool to see in levels . Climbing fences would make levels more fun . More width and higher my to make levels would be a great edition. . Multiple playable characters would be really really really really cool
It would be amazing if you could also add paintings you created into levels, that way people could create their own castle or levels that lead to more levels! And (if you haven’t already) Star doors, key doors, and doors.
idk if this is possible but you could implement a rating system (kinda like geometry dash) where you could essentially verify a levels quality and maybe keep track of like who’s collected the most stars.
This is sick! But I have a 3 questions 1. Will the final game have a way to make your own castle with painting? 2. Is this game going to release some day? And 3. If you will release it where would the game be to download?
I know you said you like your menus to be simple, but man I would really love the options to have cute little icons for them. I can imagine the game style selection having each option take up half of the screen.
Nice job on this, really like what I'm seeing here. In the video you mentioned that you wanna add an RGB slider for the Power Stars. I was wondering if that feature was also feasible for tiles and enemies, since it would allow for more customizability and creative level themes. Another thing I was wondering is if the conditions that some stars in SM64 had will also be returning. For example "kill X amount of enemy Y to make power star spawn at position Z" or "Interact/talk with NPC X to make Power Star spawn at position Y". Last question I have is what the current grid size for level building is. It looks like it might be 64x64x64 [Which would be funny], but I'd rather ask to be sure.
Hey I have an idea! you can make something like an "invisible block" that is like a hitbox for the slopes that makes that slope slippery. Oh and you can make other models for mario? like the dog collab one! or the kaze emanuar one. But not like the "Low Poly promo model" or a model importer directly
Would it be possible to have the custom lower-poly Mario model from your hack, but in the regular SM64 theme? It might help if people want their levels to lag a little bit less I guess?
Idea : add a feature where you can select a level from Mario 64 or even other rom hacks (not including gimmicks) as a sample for something like remakes or just to learn how to create good levels (just like how you can select your own levels in SMM2 but this time you're selecting roms instead) Anyway i am super excited for this hack !
these updates are amazing! what's the music playing at the start? almost sounds like something out of a Disasterpiece album. ah, I missed that slide-in at the start. perfectly hidden for me lol.
Most people in Mario Maker would screw around with the tools and make a level in the process, finding a theme along the way, AND THEN when done, come up with a good title for it. Seems weird to write the title before you've made anything.
Do you think it's possible to insert a "hub" level that connect let's say 3, 5 or more level to recreate the experience of a complete game? And maybe an introductory dialogue (written by us) between Mario, Toad, Peach that can explain the story? Am i asking too much?😅
I don't think you're asking for too much! Eventually I plan on adding on having interconnected levels, so you'll be able to place paintings in a HUB level and connect everything together.
I have some questions; Will an SD card be needed to save the levels? When playing it on PC, will that folder called "Super Mario Builder 64 Levels" be created? And finally... Will it work the same on Android emulators? For example "Android Project64" and those in the play store?
"SD Card Emulation" is a little misleading. It emulates the SD card for flashcarts. However, on emulator, it uses a virtual SD card, which is literally just a folder on your PC. Unfortunately, until android emulator developers implement SD card support, you won't be able to play on android.
Hey, I have a great idea. What about you add Cooper’s and maybe you can add the unused dry bones enemy yeah just some new enemies for the game if you’re very cool also by the way, if you want to it could be kind of cool if you can add some Koopa lings kind of like Mario maker, but a whole lot better, also I like the game I can’t wait for it to come out 7:41
There isn't really a solid release date. It technically crossed 100% a long time ago, but then we decided to add more features, giving the project more longevity and versatility. So we don't know. We'll just keep adding more stuff and polishing things until it has a full game's worth of content.

Imagine a SM64 Beta theme alongside the Vanilla theme and the Beyond the Cursed Mirror theme
This guy is insane! Really awesome work! Incredible that the new generation of mario 64 modders are pure high quality!
Huge fan Rovert. One of the best SM64 rom hackers to ever do it!

it reminds me of pre/early 2010s Roblox Studio

The tile system has recently had a full overhaul! We have sideways slopes now, so terrain looks much more natural now. It's also more optimized!
