Turbo Vs The Non Turbos

- another great day in the backcountry! The turbo G5 was working wonders in todays snow conditions while the non turbos had a bit harder of a time. not to brand bash but it really seemed like the non turbo doo out performed the poos in these snow conditions.

Just the fact that Kyle was able to keep up with a 146 in those conditions just goes to show how good of a rider he is. Awesome video🤘
He stretched it to a 155
It's a 155 so same as the rest but a 146 wouldn't climb very well in the steep no matter how good the rider
Get this guy to 100k he puts a vid out every day for us
The added power from the turbo is quite obvious in today's video! Wow, what a difference. Thanks again for the best sledding content on TH-cam!
Right! Thanks 🙌
I was thinking they put nitrous on it when it was in the shop!!
How much more horsepower does the turbo have than a NA at that altitude?
@Dan Griesemer 180 vs about 140
When it came out I thought the adjustable limiter strap was a gimmick. It’s actually quite impressive and really makes a difference in that deep snow and in really steep zones. Certainly isn’t as fun on short, but when you need the traction it’s great. Great addition to the Doos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for explaining how you were able to still use the broken clutch to get that sled out 👍
Thanks!
Beautiful scenery, even more beautiful weather and a turbo sled....doesn't get much better than this except for enjoying it with your best friends!!
The Doo is back!😁
Lethal comeback!
Sure is!
fuck I love the doo's
Matt, I know your stuck on the factory clutching, but that rpm fade and mph loss you see and can hear in the videos is tunable and you will be able to ducktape the throttle ALL day long and never see high temps... been there. Wish you would just try it for a weekend.....
@@MuskokaFreerider what ended up being wrong with the ski doo?
Sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee watching Matt rip up the mountain. What could be better….being on the mountain too of course! One day, until then I’ll enjoy the best riding content there is on TH-cam. Keep it up Matt.
Love the new camera mode. Feel like I can see what you are seeing. :)
great videos this year! I miss your dad on the trips as a fellow Jerry it was good to see him riding with you.
i am curious how a 175 Doo turbo would fair in the trees on a day like this. i miss my 175 but love the turbo 165” i’m on.
We all miss him! I wanted to have a 165 turbo for deep days this year but it didn’t work out that way
Man, you guys have damn good snow! We can't seem to get any!!! Keep up the killer content!
The turbo seemed like it was flying in this video!
It was!
As Ace Ventura says….”NOBODY MESSES WITH THE DOO”😂. Awesome day and of course…top notch content and stucks!!!
When you talk about the doo's! Muskoka always comes to mind,!
Thanks for showing the stucks!!
so sick! I need to make it up there one of these days.
I ride out here in MN. "Flat Lander" Got to get out there some day.
Great video. And keep on keeping on. Riding the Sierras, just not every day. 4 days a week, though. 😪
The perfect camera timing on the tree hook 👌🤣
I like watching you to see what lines you are taking and would I or anyone else take the same lines. The answer is most of the time I would take the same. But watching on camera some look a lot sketchier. Great videos keep them coming.
Remember everything on camera looks mellow
@@MuskokaFreerider I am 100% sure that it is a lot steeper and deeper than it appears. You should show the height sign like you did at the beginning of season. I'm sure you will show in time or I might have missed it. Any ways keep up the great content.
Ski Doos slogan for 24. "It's lonely at the top."
When it's not broken down or a Polaris Boost isn't on the mountain. Hell the 9R was keeping up with a turbo G5 just last video
@cleanrice 9R makes alot of noise and seems like it goes nowhere pointed up. The sheer G5 power was overwhelming. Not enough spark plugs left in BC to get a boost up there.
You need to ride your old yellow summit more ..its very good practice in traction hunting and line selection
Was hard to see those NA’s burning 🔥 up a belt to make those pills! Wow! What a difference 🤘glad you got a sled to ride!
You just ride a ski-do better. Probably better than any other ski doo guy honestly. Glad saxtons riding with you guys!
I think Jay Mentaberry and Blaine Mathews might have something to say about that :P
That thing is a fucking monster of a machine
Perfect vid where are you snowmobiling?
He's at Revelstoke, usually on Boulder mountain
Matt becoming a bit of a turbo diva… lol great day guys
And this is why we love these videos. Shows a guy what sled to buy and not buy. Lol turbo forsure
Kudos to Dallas, he rides that n/a quite well. Definitely a Doo Day!
Yeah he sure does!
That turbo runs like a champ... You can definitely tell when you second guess your commitment on a line though lolol. You should bring all that snow to Florida so the rest of us can play to. I think are cypress tree stumps would eat them tracks up quick but it be fun chasing alligators though lolol
Thanks for another great video!
Wow the machines are breaking at a alarming rate lately hope you got a few more in the shed 😊dam foreign metallurgy 🤭doesn’t ever match up to our American Billet ☺️
Love your vids! Thank you! Wondering, Are these breakdowns because you guys ride so hard or are these unusual? I go out West, but I'm 50 years old and I'm a Jerry. I have a 2017 850 summit 165, stock. Just curious if these are unusual breakdowns for you?
So fun to see the turbo again she eats for sure🤟🤟
The Doo turbo was doing really good in these snow condition
It would have been nice to see a Polaris Boost today and compare
Turbo for the win!
Man that G5!!! BRAAPP!!!!!
I said it once and I will say it again u make the best videos
Kyle must have his sled set up for wheelies. If he tightened that front and loosened the back he would climb so much easier
Yeah that’s the khaos really showing the difference today
Wouldn’t it be loosen the front and tighten the back to make it climb better? I’m in the process of making my 9r pro a bit more playful so been adjusting a bunch. But awesome to watch the struggle.
@@dannyhooker8853
No if you loosen your limiter straps and tighten the rear shock you'r track is going to work as an chainsaw, yes the ski will be a bit in the air but you will not go anywhere in the deep snow.
@@mrolsen6987 sorry I though you were talking just the shocks.
Bet your loving that turbo again
Before being a Doo or Poo guy I’m guessing Matt is a TH-cam guy and wants everyone to enjoy his content. That’s why Muskoka Freerider is my favorite
soooooo much better when ur on the TURBO!!! Sorry...I have a DOOOOO.
Solid day
I'm sold. The adj. limiter is priceless. Plus the speed of G5-T... like everything is in fast forward. This is rider energy savings. I think the Poos need to lose their tunnel bags to balance them out. Thanks for sharing another awesome 👌 vid.
doo is where its at
@@NightshiftCustom @bigchaloopa lmao
He specifically made a comment when he was down low that it wasn't climbing and he had to ditch the fuel can. I swear you Doo guys have selective hearing.
All those Polaris comments. Didn't you just pick up the Do from the Shop!!!! I know your just diggin. But sometimes Karma Follows . Seems like you All need a bit of Clutch Maintenance when you're putting a constant Whoopin on them ! Just Sayin
Let's see next year a 9r T. !!!
In all seriousness who has What Tracks, have you done a Equipment Comparison on the Main group 🤔?
Are you running a different camera setting? Seems to have a fisheye look at times
that thing just goes up what ever he wants to clime
why dose the skidoo turbo make that snake noise?
Sweeds have 300 words that describe all kinds of snow.
The doo stomped it out again
Again? lol it just got out of the shop and was down for like 10 days
Sorry if this is already been asked but is your turbo Ski-Doo a 154 or 165? Thanks
Check gopro! i think you're still in that action mode when recording
The turbo is nice. Which sled is your favorite, doo or polaris?
Hi I would like to know what a limiter strap is
The turbo is point and shoot today.
Just a question, is this at the kakwa?
Turbo was epic! What was wrong with it earlier?
It was just the reeds
@@jamesjanzen9806 "just" lol
Are you having over revving issues with your 154? Have a 2023 shredder 154 and it's hitting the rev limiter bad on clicker 1.
Loving the carnage!
What clear lens goggles you wearing Matt?
“For the na’s not me” lol
Would have been better drive the 9R. Incredible climb from the turbo 💪💪
Does anyone know what camera settings he uses?
How much do you weigh brev?
There's no substitut for turbo power 🤘
Did you put after market reeds in or what?
Do you keep track of how many belts and how many liter's of fuel for a full season?
What’s the deal with the Polaris always breaking the clutch🤔🤷🏼♂️ is it from the heat?
"Always?" That's the first Polaris clutch I've seen break. Usually it's Cat that are breaking clutches.
@@208SledHead it’s the second one I’ve seen on this channel 🤔🤔
@@rods907 I commented before the end of the video. Yea that’s two this season.
Turbo all the way😎
Nice
Is it my phone freaking out or is your mic static popping? Awesome video like always!
I think the audio was good today
@@MuskokaFreerider sometimes my headphones do that too lol so I never know what to trust😂
What is that backpack?
You have to ride with the cboys next year
Is Saxton not on artic cat anymore?or on the black cats?
Nope. He signed with Polaris at the end of the season last year.
Dallas would be a savage ona turbski
the wide angel makes it hard to look at. i like that we can se more, but it make me feel dissy.
What was wrong with the doo? It broke down some days ago
Why isn't the 9R available in boost?
Because it'd be a 40k sled lol
Is the plural for Polaris Polarai or Polarises? Kind of like octopus being octopai?
How much do you figure your back pack weighs!
I hate to keep saying it, but I said it 2yrs ago, Polaris took a step Backwards when they went to the Maytrx Chassis vs the Axys. My Axys is so much better trail sled vs the Maytrx, idc what anyone says!
Nobody in here cares about trail sleds
@@208SledHead it's all of them bone head, trail and mnt
Does the Polaris Turbo work as good as the Ski Doo turbo’s do?? What’s your opinion Matt.
Ski doo turbo has more power than the boost
I'm curious how you adjusted your limiter strap on the go? I'd like to be able to do that with my VR1. Do you have a video on how you did so or is that common and I'm oblivious? 😂
That is a Ski-Doo only benefit!
Ok awesome! Thanks Skylar.
It’s an option from factory on the skidoo mountain sleds. I think can be added aftermarket as a kit. Simple rotating lever to shorten or lengthen
Question more than a comment. I’ve been a Doo rider for the last number of years. Easy to remove sway bar link.
Bought a Khaos 155 last year. Do you remove the entire sway bar??
No need, people don’t remove the sway bars on new mountain sleds
Yea I never touch mine
Thanks guys. We ride in Quebec, from NS so not much steep terrain but lots of snow.
I'll be curious to see if Polaris re-takes the crown for most power next year. It makes sense that the BRP makes more since Polaris had the most last year...if this is gonna mark the beginning of the turbo wars? Polaris could throw a huffer on the 9 and take the title, but I kinda hope they don't and leave the 9 for a dedicated tree machine.
Kyle on the rodeo Khaos really had to work today!
The 9R won’t hold together as it is in its NA form.
@@specforged5651 How do you know this?
@@specforged5651 Who is your dealer?
Polaris needs to fix all the flaws and issues in the current models before releasing anything else!
Hey Matt you can’t park there🤘🏻
Did those trees owe you guys,. did they insult your mothers? Cause you guys were tree pounding. That blizzard was a blast I have ridden many time in similar conditions at night. Once in a ground blizzard in the Alaska range. Rode 42 miles with katabatic winds. That is when nightfall comes and the immediately cools when the sun goes down and you get about 20 foot deep 100mph layer of air falling down the alpine. It was equal parts amazing and terrifying. When the snow comes down that heavy it is, lets say challenging to see anything.
You were hauling ass in those trees to day for that one part, that sled is a beast. Seems more fun than the pair o' lips 9R.The 9r is still a really cool sled, but the 5G turbo mountain sleds seem a bit slower. I wonder if you could get them to tighten up their limiter straps?
Hey Matt, thanks for another cool vid!!
Your buddies on the Poo's need to learn how to make easy on hill rear skid adjustments to help when they are having climbing issues.....especially on the Khaos models.
Get them to talk to Turcotte or watch this to start?? th-cam.com/video/8C-AwHFxNAU/w-d-xo.html
Way more to it than limiter strap adjustments!!
Brett is very sharp with suspensions!!
Hope this may help them!!
So what was the issue with the doo?
It was just the reeds
Those Polaris sleds look heavy af on video the doo seems lighter
Polaris are lighter
Polaris is lighter but they trench bad if you can’t keep up speed to stay on top of snow. I think they need to revise the Polaris tracks. The bigger the lug the worse the trench issue.
@@Brad22790 I wonder how they would do with a 5/8" lug, should really rip then!
@@Brad22790 Dude the Doo's trench waaaaAAY worse than the Polaris does. This is a known fact man. Polaris and Cat get on top of the snow better. That's why McMurray's stock Alpha beat Matt's turbo Freeride last year in a drag race.
👍👍👍👍👍
possibly the density altitude
What’s the hp difference between 9r and turbo
A lot.
I saw the vid of Ben
Where is jared?! 😅
Gen5 vs 9R race
He did that already. He raced Dallas a few times. He is faster off the line but Dallas catches up and passes him.
Racing a NA sled @ altitude vs. a turbo? WTF do you think is gonna happen dude? lol
Was up dude
Try another mod build for next year,?
Turbo 9R....
Na. Save your money and get a G5-T.
@@bigchaloopa but he already has a G5 turbo
@@bigchaloopa A turbo 9 would walk that G5 in reverse.
15.00: Why do people go NA? turbo's been proving their worth for what, 25 ish years now. And with acceptable longevity past 10 or even 15 years now. And these days turbo's are even stock with factory warranty. What do I not get?
For most people, a NA is plenty. Just because you have a few days or some terrain a turbo will be the king, for most people and most other days it doesn't make that much of a difference except a turbo is heavier, way more expensive and reliability will still be worse even if they are pretty good as you point out.
Price
Non turbos handle better, lighter, cheaper, burn less fuel/ oil
Just an itty bitty tiny $6000+ difference in value for NA vs Factory Turbo.
I ride at sea level to 3,000ft. I sold my silber turbo alpha and got a 9r this year. I’m liking the instant power of the na sled and how light it is. Wouldn’t have a turbo again at this elevation.
Good content but please ditch the superwide fov. Makes me kinda nautious.
