@@sageofthickcalves my boy I just got done arguing with a fool that told people to grow up from absolutely nothing and told them to be happy that they need an iphone to play a game that's exclusive to it. Episode 1 and chapter 1 of Boruto has a flash forward scene that hints at more to the story meanwhile the movie feels like a one and done no cliffhanger nothing .
The coolest thing about Road to Ninja is that it gives implications on how Kishimoto views genjutsu like Infinite Tsukiyomi and implies that all the infinite Tsukiyomi realities are their own real universes
There was one episode with Sakura where she switch places with herself to another universe and it caused me to think that people under the Infinite Tsukiyomi switch places with their ideal selfs universe. Kinda mess up if you think about considering that their doppelgängers are being put turn into White Zestu in their place.
That obito age thing is very informative, I’d honestly like to see you do a break down of a lot of those little inconsistencies like Itachi’s age or orochimaru saying kakashi didn’t have the sharingan last time he saw him
Kishimoto probably did not know that Obito would become the final villain of the story when he made the original databooks so Kakashi becoming a chunin at 6 is probably a retcon He did not know what direction the story would go in at that point
@@edra2005 Kakashi is stated to be a Chunin at 6 in the manga and then stated to be the youngest academy graduate ever in the Itachi Shinden novels, which came out after databook 4. So not only does the manga take precedence over the databooks, even the novels reconfirm Kakashi’s age. Also, Kakashi’s Naruto website birthday column from September 15th of this year tells us Kakashi was a Chunin at 6. The mistake isn’t his graduation/Chunin promotion ages.
Ive been trying to explain to people that moveset abilities but not necessarily the cut scenes are canon for years the only youtuber ive seen understand this is you
I see Road to Ninja as Canon. Also for the Kakashi and Obito thing couldn't it just be the fact that Kakashi completes his exams alone and then later has to compete with Obito as well As it would make Rin also like 4 years older than Kakashi. I did like the Storm mention on how their movesets are sort of how they could fight however the series doesn't really have time to portray that. Like while Subsitution Jutsu isn't as broken in the real series as it is when used as a storm mechanic some Jutsu's don't require handsigns and unless one character is way weaker than the other they aren't just going to let themselves get combo'd.
So the problem with that solution is that you’re arguing they’d allow a jonin to participate in the Chunin exams, or at the very least a Chunin. Kakashi and Obito joined team Minato at the same time, and that would’ve been right after graduating the academy, at which point Kakashi’s 5 and Obito is 9. Since Obito doesn’t know about Sakumo’s death, and Kannabi Bridge happens 5 years after, he cannot be any older than 10 at Kannabi bridge. So there’s no way that lines up with the manga.
@@sageofthickcalves Assuming he became Jonin at 10-12 or when he got into the Anbu my idea would just be that Kakashi would graduate at 5 and take the exam teamless or in an unknown team at 6 really have nothing to do and link up back with Obito and that Group at 9 and then be suppressed in the exams when he takes them with the group but maybe getting Jonin here or at least recommended then Obito gets Chunin at 11.
@@ZelZ-.-z I mean it is just outright states that only genin can take the Chunin exams. Why would they allow Kakashi to take the exams as a Chunin? Also, in the exams that we see him and Obito participate in together, Kakashi gets promoted to Chunin and Obito doesn’t. So that theory doesn’t work

Amazing video! I always wanted a video like this on TH-cam to clear things up. There are however some instances where I'm still confused about their canonicity. Correct me if I'm wrong about this but in OG Naruto Raiga is ''killed'' by Naruto in a filler, which is not canon obviously, but then in the Boruto anime, which is canon, Buntan mentions that event. So, does that make that filler arc or at least her father's death retroactively canon?
This is no doubt gonna be controversial, especially considering not a lot of people were happy about this particular character's last-minute introduction, but I actually like the Flashback about Kaguya and her sons from the Anime. I loved to see how Hagoromo became the Sage of Six Paths and how he trained his own sons and the journeys they both went on. I would like for that part to be canon cuz I really liked it.
What about naruto filler that is referenced by canon sources, like Naruto defeating Raiga mentioned by his daughter when both the boruto anime and its novel?
@@ATPokemon yeah anything like that can be considered loosely a part of the Naruto canon, it just wouldn’t be safe to use the showings themselves for scaling, since it could’ve happened differently
Also another tier of canon could be linked with the author, for instance many in the community do not recognize anything that is not written by the author of Naruto Masashi Kishimoto, such as the Boruto Manga outside of the Movie and Mitsuki/Sarada short stories that were written by Kishimoto himself. Not saying that the Boruto and Boruto TBV manga cannot have their OWN universe, with Mikio Ikemoto as the writer.
Fantastic video, very informative, but I do have 2 questions. 1: Could you say/argue the Naruto and Boruto anime and manga are different continuities given differences such as Kaguya preparing for Urashiki who is an anime only character? 2: Would you say if feats performed by the anime apply to the manga (and vice versa)? For example, Fused Momoshiki gets slapped away by SPSM + KCM Naruto but in the anime he goes back and forth with him a bit, especially given how Boruto with True Essence of Karma is fighting Limited Code who at least hypes himself up as comparable to Naruto and Sasuke.
Thank you! 1: Naruto anime can be a different continuity, but the boruto anime is just stated to essentially run alongside the boruto manga. Anything that’s different is either an expanded version that’s also canon, or a contradiction, which isn’t canon. 2: Anything that doesn’t directly contradict the source material should be fine in regards to the boruto anime.
Thank you for this because I remember reading a comment some time ago claiming that Ashura was the creator of the Rasengan and that Namikaze clan were descendants of Ohtsutski Ashura and that the rasengan was a clan ninjutsu/kekkei genkai like with the sharingan for the Uchiha. That is unbelievably false and I’m gonna go over why. 1. It is mentioned MULTIPLE times that the rasengan was created BY Minato and now with the One-shot further solidified that considering that he wasn’t even the one who came up with the name. How can a jutsu be used by multiple people, throughout multiple generations, yet no one thought of a name for it until that point in time and not even a Namikaze member came up with the name. 2. One of the important things to remember about the base Rasengan is that it’s INCOMPLETE and wasn’t completed until Naruto used his shadow clones to overcome that 2 chakra nature change simultaneously that the jutsu longed for in order to be complete. Now let’s say this jutsu WAS passed down from generation to generation and it wasn’t created by Minato. You’re telling me that for probably thousands of years, the Namikaze clan have been passing down an INCOMPLETE jutsu and it wasn’t until Naruto’s generation that it was finally completed and now with Borutos Rasengan, a literal generation later, surpasses even THAT?! I’m sorry but I find it hard to believe that NO ONE prior to Minato was able to complete the jutsu and I’m sure someone would’ve figured out that the answer or at least one of the answers is to make shadow clones even if it’s just one clone. Either Minato is just that smart and talented or the Namikaze clan are just truly that stupid with Minato being the exception, which is just not the case. 3. Whether the Namikaze clan are descendants from Ashura, which I highly doubt, is irrelevant but the Senjus who are confirmed to be descendants IS relevant. If Ashura truly did create the Rasengan and it was passed on from generation to generation then why didn’t Hashirama use the Rasengan ANY of the times we saw him. You’re probably thinking “oh he probably can’t use shadow clones” but that’s not true considering he can make just as many as Naruto so that’s definitely not the case. You also might be thinking, “well the Rasengan is too advanced for Hashirama.” Hashirama, regarded as the god of shinobi even amongst outside villages, who can tame the kyuubi with ease, who can go head to head with Uchiha Madara where even other kage have a hard time even holding up in a fight with him, CANT do a simple rasengan?…….just let that sink in. Sorry for the little tangent but I felt that needed to be said in case there’s STILL anyone who genuinely believes Ashura was the creator of the rasengan even though it has been specifically mentioned that Minato was the creator. Sometimes it’s even REFERRED to as “the Fourth Hokages Jutsu” which that itself should be enough evidence.
@@sageofthickcalves Fasho💯 I remember about a little over a decade ago if you googled the jonin ages it read as followed: Kakashi - Part 1: 26-27(he was yhe youngest jonin in the village aside from Anko who was a special Jonin) Gai and Kurenai both 30 years old and Asuma was 31 the oldest of the bunch. Then it all changed somehow
Nice video. So the only contradiction for the ages should be the fourth databook. I dont know the best way to resolve this but maybe its only the age they counted in the main dimension and obito spent maybe 3-4 years in the kamui dimension allowing kakashi to catch up. Headcannon but thats one way to resolve it.
Well we don’t have any indication that time doesn’t pass in the Kamui dimension, so I think the most logical thing to say is that the adult age in db4 (which Kishimoto worked on in a very limited way) is an error.
The Kakashi and Obito age really has me for a loop always... Even if all you said is true, it still doesn't make sense... By the time Kakashi fought in the Chunin exams, he was supposed to be 6... That looks nothing like a 6 year old, he should look like Konohamaru did, secondary, I doubt rin would have a crush on a 6 year old when she is 10. I don't know man, it's weird af
@@RAZORlukic Yagura looked like a teenager when he was in his 30s. I don’t think going off of how we subjectively think people look is a good metric for determining age when we have statements telling us how old he is. As far as Rin, I’m not sure it’s really that weird in a world full of shinobi, especially if Kakashi is super advanced at that age. But I also don’t think that’s a good metric for determining how old he is there. Here’s the issue that you’ll have to get around: Kakashi is stated to he a Chunin at 6 in the manga, databooks, fanbooks, mini guides, anime, and Naruto website birthday columns. It’s a consistent piece of the canon material no matter how you want to look at it.
@sageofthickcalves I mean we know itachi was attending the academy via a shadow clone which made him an early graduate and he took the chuinin exam alone so kakashi could've taken it alone before everyone else aswell, the only problem with that with that is why he would take it again? Perhaps he got himself demoted from the rank of chunin to gennin so he could take the exam with them again? 😂 Edit: i concede Kakashi being younger than the rest of his class makes perfect sense, he was a gebius of a kind afterall
Haven't watched yet but this is a great video concept that I'm glad is being covered. Whether everyone agrees or not, hopefully people will at least have a basic understanding of the Naruto canon.
Let's just simplify it and say manga >>>> anything and everything else. Any information in other stuff that expands on the manga is inherently inferior, or just complimentary. But that doesn't mean you're allowed to craft entire arguments around that information. And if any rebuttal is given like "it's not in the manga" that's a valid counterpoint and should mutually end the argument.
@@commander1suv492 this is partially true. Yes, the manga is > everything else, but saying “it’s not in the manga” doesn’t discredit the validity of other canon works. It’s only if it CONTRADICTS the manga
Hard disagree honestly... The Manga is obviously above all, but if there is other official information from the Author or Publisher or BOTH out there: Simply stating that its not in the manga shouldn't end the argument unless it DIRECTLY contradicts the manga..
I agree with you for the most part. If it’s not in the manga it really isn’t canon. Unless it’s a CONFIRMED statement from Kishimoto or he ACTUALLY WORKS on it. Otherwise it’s just supplemental fluff at best.
@@sageofthickcalvesDo you think since the multiverse and timelines are confirmed in Boruto, canon will work in Naruto like it does for the Dragonball franchise as different continuities?
@@collinthesage7436 These are just stories that were given to writers by the studio to milk the IP. Weren’t written, read, or supervised by kishimoto at all. Ignoring the contradictions, they’re just fun side stories at most.
@@QGUU it literally shows them on a timeline WITH THE MANGA, and the end of it says the story CONTINUES in Boruto. If they just wanted to show you the order to read the novels they would not have put the manga stuff on there.
Since I'm reading Naruto e I want to continue with boruto and I'm reading both first level of canon and second level of canon, Which Boruto only anime arcs are quoted in the manga? I only know that the chunin exams are quoted but there is a novelization for it.
The biggest problem for me about the Kakashi and Obito having different ages is the way Kishimoto draw them, they seem to have the same age especially in the Minato oneshot if they are 4 year apart then Kakashi at 4 is as tall as Obito at 8 💀 (they are not graduated yet in the academy) Also there are a lot of reason why people think Minato is atleast 15 at the oneshot what should mean that Obito is at max 17 in the leaf attack (Minato died at 24 and in the oneshot Obito is at max 8 years old 8+9=17)
@@Enlightenment4035 yeah my theory is that they’re closer to 3.5 years apart, so Kakashi can be 10 when Obito is 13, and 5.5 when Obito is just turning 9, so there would be a half year or so when they’re 5 & 8, 4 & 7, etc. I will say, Kakashi is notably drawn as a few inches shorter than Obito in Gaiden, so that could be an indication of that. Minato is likely no older than 14 in the one shot manga because Kakashi graduated at 5 and he’s in the academy there (since he’s met Guy and Obito), and Kakashi is 10 years younger than Minato.
I might have asked you this question before but I’m not sure do you think tobirama having bringer of darkness is canon because I do because he has yin release but hashirama doesn’t and tobirama is known for creating jutsu and that jutsu plus in some of the games I’m pretty sure they have them both use it which I’m fine with them both having it I just think tobirama having it can be considered canon
Couldn't most every thing be considered canon due to the whole "ten directions" thing that kashin koji has? Not necessarily that the events happened, rather they could have happened seeing as the point of the ten directions is to give it's user the ability to see other outcomes.
@@cruzuballe8110 it’s not confirmed to be a multiverse, he’s just seeing multiple possible future scenarios. If you want to adhere to the Naruto multiverse theory (which I do because of the Jiraiya time traveling turtle arc), I’d just say that “canon” in this video would be referring to the primary canonical timeline (manga timeline).

boruto should be secondary canon. is not written by kishimoto himself, just supervised by him. So in that sense, only the naruto manga and the novels and naruto the last are canon. the rest is secondary or lower. and databooks are barely canon, they are always wrong and make some absurd clames
@@000TheMatheus000 Kishimoto picked up writing it after chapter 53. He currently writes it. He was also a part of “every concept and idea” even in the first 53 chapters, according to the show-runners of the anime and Kodachi himself.

@@sageofthickcalvesDespite the movie not being canon, the events that took place in it are the reason I was never worried about Kakashi If he were to face Kara members. They may be powerful, but they're not shinobibat heart. Overly confident and often let their guard down etc. Even if a ninja doesn't have Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. A ninja always has Taijutsu! You rely too much on that armor - Kakashi(ninja clash in the land of snow) People like to pretend like ninja tech is a new thing. I personally was never worried about him. With or without the Sharingan's eye of insight, his Taijutsu has always been relative to Guy. I'm not going to pretend like he can take on a shinju.

The biggest problem for me about the Kakashi and Obito having different ages is the way Kishimoto draw them, they seem to have the same age especially in the Minato oneshot if they are 4 year apart then Kakashi at 4 is as tall as Obito at 8 💀 (they are not graduated yet in the academy)
Also there are a lot of reason why people think Minato is atleast 15 at the oneshot what should mean that Obito is at max 17 in the leaf attack (Minato died at 24 and in the oneshot Obito is at max 8 years old 8+9=17)
@@Enlightenment4035 yeah my theory is that they’re closer to 3.5 years apart, so Kakashi can be 10 when Obito is 13, and 5.5 when Obito is just turning 9, so there would be a half year or so when they’re 5 & 8, 4 & 7, etc.
