- The Weinsberg Ford 550 MQ campervan is 553cm long, 206cm wide and 205cm inner height. According to the Weinsberg website, the Weinsberg Ford 550 MQ offers up to 750kg of payload whereas this model shown at the CMT trade fair was claiming almost 800kg of payload. Even if the website is correct, I assume that 750kg will not be a problem for most people!

I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I am very happy to say that I am the owner of a 2022 Ducato based Weinsberg CaraBus 600 which I purchased new 6 months ago. One of the many reasons for buying it was the self evident quality and durability. We have now covered 3000 miles and have only had one warranty issue which was a touch controlled LED spotlight which sometimes wouldn’t turn off after it had been on for a long period. Knaus/Weinsberg quickly supplied the replacement light (despite the hurdles of importing into the U.K. caused by Brexit) and all is now well. I know several owners of Knaus/ Weinsberg products and none of them are complaining of poor quality or service. The reality of the Caravan and Motorhome industry, as with the car industry, is that the dealer is responsible for administering the manufacturers warranty and it is often the dealer’s warranty department that is the weak link in the system. This is particularly true if you are trying to get support from a dealer that you didn’t buy the vehicle from.
Great response - and detailled too. I agree that it is the responsibility of the dealer who sold the vehicle - who in turn may not be able to get the necessary parts. As for Brexit, now travelling between Poland, Germany and the UK, I get a very clear picture of the damage done by a handful of traitors who wanted to asset strip the UK economy for their own nefarious ends.
Alan, if you want to fit larger shower and sink drains, you remove the small one and drill a larger hole and fit the larger drain. You may have to fit a reducer / enlarger pipe adaptor underneath if the pipework is a different diameter but it should be a simple half hour plumbing job . . . . . . . . . . . provided the drains don't drain directly into the waste tank, that is!
If I tried doing that, I think it is a cert I would ruin the whole shower tray! On the whole the piping tends to be a standard size inside (as far as I have noticed)!
lage payload, good storage, nice bathroom layout, this is an ideal size van, better than the 4 people ones, easyish to park but plenty internal space...
Alan the reason I was told for the delay in Fiat Ducato campervan & motorhomes is because a very large delivery service provider has placed a very large order quantity for Ducato vans & being that Fiat are part Italian government owned, that order has taken precedent! I was told this in early December last year at the dealership where we were having our habitation checks & snags sorted.
Beauty, but 2 things bug me. 1: cooking next to the bed. whoever thought of that?! And 2: the flare is just 1 big one. I prefer the way other brands do it, with 2 smaller ones on both sides.
Thanks for your suggestions. The problem is that with a vehicle this small, there is nowhere else to put the cooker. As for the flare, remember that the door opens and so there can only be a little one on the door side and they are very expensive to install - and two will double the cost!

Interesting video Alan. The “easy access” table is a clever design that doesn’t have a leg to get in the way as you enter or leave the dinette area. The table is supported by a strong bracket which is fixed to the underneath of the table and then attaches to the rail on the side wall which is strengthened to offer sufficient support but also allows the table to be move fore and aft.
I am sure that you will be surprised to know that Knaus (who manufacture Weinsberg) are the winners of the the 2023 Practical Caravan Magazine Owner Satisfaction survey which was conducted in association with the Camping and Caravan Club. As the name implies this is not awarded by journalist but is the result of feedback from owners. This hardly concurs with your often repeated opinion that Knaus are an inferior brand.
Wow that would be prefect for me as long as it was AWD. I spend 3 months in a smallish ford camper in New Zealand and loved it, and it was no way near as fancy.

My preferred van but getting details of when they will be available in the UK is like getting blood out of a stone. I am very tall and the near side rear flair, albeit at a cost of c £1300, is a great option for a fixed transverse bed. Their UK dealers are equally frustrated at the poor communication from Germany. At lease one is so fed up at letting customers down that they, whilst they have units on order, will not agree sales, or even take deposits, unless the vehicle is actually with them. Pity about your oft repeated comments about problems with the actual vans, as I am on a FB page with many members and I see very few if any owners complaints. However Alan you are at the front end of the market and I respect 100% your views.
I saw your message when you wrote Stephen so I wrote to a dealer who told me the answer I expected which is that he did not know when it would be available. A lot of people complain to me about the dealers but I now sympathise with their problems - I speak to quite a few. The current situation is not the manufacturers problem either, it is outside the control of everyone. I think on FB people are less likely to say negative things, when they complain to me it as more or less confidential so they can say what they like. However I want to be positive, can I suggest you look at the new Pilote Atlas or if you like, I could put you in contact with someone who would build the whole thing from scratch to your specification.
The diesel heater shuts off when there X liters of diesel left in the tank, so you won't run out of diesel because of heating.
It's just on an H2 platform. All large van manufacturers will do an H2, including Fiat.
Yes it is but in Ford it is higher.
Great little van this one, Alan! Do you happen to know if there's an internal roof bed option for this vehicle like Weinsberg have with some of their other vans?
I think you mean a drop down bed like this one Robin - th-cam.com/video/wnAOIkUvhjs/w-d-xo.html . Weinsberg do this in some models as you say, but as far as I am aware, this is not possible here.

Claudine, je parle français. J'ai étudié le français à l'université au Royaume-Uni, et j'ai également suivi des cours dans les universités de Lyon, Paris et Caen. Cependant, il n'est pas réaliste pour moi de faire des vidéos dans d'autres langues que l'anglais car cela prend tellement de temps ! Je suis désolé, je le ferais en français si je pensais que suffisamment de gens regarderaient, mais il existe un certain nombre de chaînes en TH-cam couvrant les camping-cars en français !
